“Wait—wasn’t it said that Nangong Mo, the imperial grandson of Duanyun Kingdom, was once the Queen’s former fiancé? Could it be that Nangong Mo has come as well?”
Instinctively, they looked toward the opposite side, yet among the crowd, they couldn’t tell who exactly was Duanyun Kingdom’s imperial grandson.

“This is bad.” Another person stroked his long hair and said softly, “It seems we must send a signal to the King. Now that a love rival has shown up, at the very least our King should know what kind of situation he’s facing.”

Staring at the vast sea, the man standing there frowned deeply, his fists clenched tightly. “Is she really inside Death Island?”

“We’ve received news from the King of Eastern Capital. She is indeed on Death Island,” Ye Ningfeng said in a low voice. “Your Highness, the Island Master of Qiongyu Immortal Island will never release Ruoxi’s mother. This trip… I’m afraid it will be extremely dangerous.”

This was the truth. After all, Ruoxi’s mother was the Grand Protector of Qiongyu Immortal Island—once a woman who nearly became the Island Master herself. Would her junior sister, Baili Wushuang, really let her go?

Shaking his head, Nangong Mo let out a deep chuckle. “She knows I am the imperial grandson of Duanyun Kingdom. She won’t make things difficult for me.”

“Yes, but Your Highness,” Ye Ningfeng said solemnly, “have you considered this? The moment you step onto Qiongyu Immortal Island, it’s like a lamb walking into a tiger’s den. You could become a trump card in Baili Wushuang’s hands, used to deal with—”

“Enough!” A cold glint flashed through Nangong Mo’s eyes as he clenched his fists. Even if that were the case, so what? He couldn’t truly help Ruoxi. The only thing he could do was use his current status to do at least something for her.

Far out on the sea, a small boat slowly approached. Standing on it was a woman dressed in flowing white robes. A thin veil covered her face, concealing her true appearance.

Yet her bright, piercing eyes locked onto the group ahead as she smiled faintly. “The Island Master invites Prince Murong to Qiongyu Immortal Island. As for the rest of you, forgive us for not entertaining you all.”

“Your Highness, it’s a trap!” Only allowing Nangong Mo to enter? Ye Ningfeng’s expression darkened further. He pressed a hand against the small crossbow hidden in his sleeve and said in a low voice, “I am Your Highness’s study companion. I share life and death with you. Please allow me to go as well.”

“Even a study companion is not allowed aboard. Otherwise, both of you—please return.”
The arrogant woman raised her chin and smiled disdainfully.

Knowing that the woman was deliberately belittling his status, Ye Ningfeng sneered coldly.
“I am His Highness’s study companion—and also the Fire King of Duanyun Kingdom. Is that still not enough of a qualification to enter?”

“How presumptuous! Even if you were the king of Duanyun Kingdom, you still wouldn’t be allowed in!” the woman snorted coldly. “The Island Master has said—only Prince Murong may enter!”

With a flick of his right hand, the bow appeared in Ye Ningfeng’s grasp. Calm and merciless, he drew it with one hand. His eyes were icy, as though they could freeze everything around him.

“Will you let us pass or not? Kill you, and we can still enter just the same. Believe me—I have the strength.”

“You—!” The woman’s face changed drastically. The purple battle aura gathering on the bow shocked her. She hadn’t expected such a young man to be a Purple Sovereign.

Clenching her fists, she hesitated. Just then, from the cloudless sky, a gentle voice echoed.

“Let him come in as well…”

“Yes!”

The woman replied respectfully, then said impatiently, “You two—come aboard.”

“Your Highness.” Ye Ningfeng withdrew his bow and glanced back at the group behind them. “All of you, wait here for orders.”

“Yes!” Everyone replied in low voices, naturally understanding what he meant.

As the two boarded the boat, they gazed at the vast sea ahead. White mist enveloped everything around them, distorting their vision. It felt as if time itself had stopped in that moment—only the sound of rushing water echoed in their ears, the unfathomable fog pressing in from all sides.

No one knew how long had passed. Gradually, the dense mist ahead began to disperse, and then an island that looked like a fairyland appeared before them.

A vast peach grove spread out, intoxicating to behold. The entire island was filled with a faint fragrance not found in the outside world—light, yet irresistibly enchanting.

As soon as the boat docked, Nangong Mo couldn’t help but take a deep breath. His face changed instantly as all the strength in his body seemed to be drained away, his legs nearly giving out beneath him.

“Your Highness!” Covering his nose quickly, Ye Ningfeng immediately realized this place was far from simple. He pulled out a medicine bottle from his person, poured out two pills, and said urgently, “Your Highness, these were prepared by His Majesty. Take them quickly.”

“Mmm.” After swallowing the pills with difficulty, Nangong Mo finally felt a bit better. He glanced at the woman standing nearby, her eyes smiling—as though mocking them.

Anger surged in his chest, but he only clenched his fists and stared ahead coldly. “Please lead the way.”

“Then you’d better follow closely. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck here for the rest of your lives—never able to leave.”
With a disdainful remark, the woman flashed away, heading deeper inside.

Nangong Mo followed immediately. But the moment he took a step forward, the scenery around them changed completely.

In an instant, dark clouds filled the sky. Even the peach trees turned into withered branches and rotten leaves. It was as though they had fallen into an endless black void where nothing existed.

“Your Highness, we’re trapped in a formation. It seems Baili Wushuang never intended to let us through at all,” Ye Ningfeng said coldly. With a sweep of his right hand, a streak of purple battle aura shot forward.

Boom!

An explosion echoed through the air.

“It seems she only used the formation to confuse our vision—our hearing still works. Your Highness, let’s move.”

With his hand on the bowstring, using the sound of the exploding aura as a guide, the two trapped men advanced step by step.

In an empty chamber, a woman lay reclined on a soft couch. Watching the image of the two men, she raised her brows slightly, lazily flicking her sleeve.

“Li Yi, tell me—what do you think their purpose is?”

“I don’t know,” the man replied coldly as he looked at the image. Unnoticed by Baili Wushuang, he frowned slightly. Had Murong Hua gone mad, sending his own grandson here?

Sitting upright, Baili Wushuang chuckled softly. “Never mind. They’re nothing more than two filthy rats. Who knows how long it’ll take them to crawl out. As for my trapped senior sister—I don’t have that much patience to wait for her. Has the totem research been completed?”

“It’s nearly done.” A sharp gleam flashed in the man’s eyes as the King of Eastern Capital bent forward and handed over a letter from his sleeve.

Taking the letter, Baili Wushuang skimmed through it rapidly. Her eyes lit up, and she burst into laughter.

“So that’s how it is—so that’s how it works! Senior Sister, you refused to give me the Blazing Fire Totem back then, but it doesn’t matter anymore. I’ve already found a way to inherit it. Hmph. King of Eastern Capital, how much longer before the inheritance is complete?”

“Three more days. It’s already being verified,” he replied softly.

“Good. Take me to see it.” Three days—just three days, and she would obtain the Blazing Fire Totem. At that point, the entire Qiongyu Immortal Island would belong to her. She would see who could still stop her then!

In the boundless darkness, the trembling woman suddenly opened her eyes. On her forehead, a flame-shaped mark appeared, blazing red for an instant before disappearing again.

“This is bad!”

Her face turned pale. Baili Yan clenched her fists and stared outward in horror. “Has she already figured out the method? No—I must get out!”

With a sweep of her right hand, purple battle aura gathered and slammed fiercely against the spherical barrier before her. Yet no matter what she did, she couldn’t break through the boundary. The harder she resisted, the faster her own aura leaked away.

She struggled, but couldn’t move even an inch.

“Hahaha, Senior Sister—how is it?” A figure appeared, dressed in luxurious golden robes. A triumphant smile curved her lips, and on her forehead was an additional flame-shaped mark.

Her whole body shook violently as Baili Yan lunged forward, staring in disbelief at Baili Wushuang’s brow. “You… you actually—!”

“That’s right. I’ve obtained the Blazing Fire Totem. What—surprised?” Baili Wushuang laughed loudly. “After all these years, I finally found the method. You should be thanking me.”

Staring at the woman before her, Baili Wushuang extended her right hand, and a black, sharp blade appeared in her grasp.

“Senior Sister, do you still remember why our master favored you so much?” she sneered. “He gave you the island-guarding Thunderbolt Spear, but only gave me this nameless sword. I refused to accept that. Now, shouldn’t your Thunderbolt Spear be handed over to me?”

As her words fell, the totem on Baili Wushuang’s forehead flared brightly. A red glow enveloped Baili Yan, and within the sphere, a long spear suddenly appeared.

“No!” Baili Yan’s face changed drastically as she reached out desperately toward the Thunderbolt Spear.

But no matter how fast she was, she was still slower than the woman in front of her.

The crimson Thunderbolt Spear fell into Baili Wushuang’s hands—zzzt!—and she abruptly released her grip.

Her palms were already scorched, burned by the spear.

Her expression darkened as Baili Wushuang stared coldly at the woman trapped inside, sneering, “I didn’t expect it to still protect its master. Fine—I’d like to see whether it listens to me, or to you!”

Cold light flashed in her eyes. Red clouds surged from the totem on her brow. Purple battle aura wrapped tightly around her right hand as she clenched the Thunderbolt Spear with force.

Hum!

The spear vibrated violently. The clash of the two powers caused the stone floor around them to sink inward.

Baili Yan watched coldly from within, sharp light flashing in her eyes.

Bang!

With a sudden twist of her hand, the marks on the spear vanished. The flame cloud on Baili Wushuang’s brow faded, and she burst into laughter, gripping the now-subdued Thunderbolt Spear.

“Well, Senior Sister? Your Blazing Fire Totem and your Thunderbolt Spear are both in my hands now. What can you possibly do?”

“I didn’t kill you back then because you hadn’t told me how to obtain the Blazing Fire Totem. Now I have the totem, and I have the Thunderbolt Spear. What can you do anymore?”

“I respect you as my Senior Sister, so after I leave, I’ll have them destroy this place and at least leave you a whole corpse. From now on, Qiongyu Immortal Island will be under my control.”

She sneered coldly and turned to leave. “Now I finally have enough qualifications to enter the White Lotus Cave.”

So that was it.

Her true objective… was still that place.
