“Xiao Wu,” Ling Ruoxi whispered, pressing her hand gently on his head. “You don’t understand. Sometimes what your eyes see and your ears hear can deceive you.”

“He killed my mother right in front of me! How could that be fake?!” Xiao Wu roared, his face pale. Day after day, night after night, he recalled that day—the day the beast killed his mother with its own hands. He would never forgive this creature, never!

Jumping out of Luo Mingyu’s arms, the child, brimming with murderous intent, fixed his gaze on the kneeling man. His tiny right hand extended, and a golden bow and arrow appeared in his childish grasp. He stood like the god of wrath, pulling the arrow tight, eyes locked on the target.

“No sinner escapes the Golden Eagle Bow. Die!” His expression hardened. The child released the arrow, which turned into a streak of golden light, flying toward the person ahead. Even Ling Ruoxi didn’t have time to stop him.

The kneeling man remained calm, his gaze unwavering. Coldly, he whispered two words: “Save him.”

Whoosh! Golden light erupted, almost illuminating the entire sky and sea.

The child holding the bow staggered back in shock. “Impossible! Why… why won’t even the Golden Eagle Bow recognize his guilt? Why?!”

The kneeling figure did not move. The golden arrow shot past him, and at the last moment, it shifted its trajectory.

Ling Ruoxi had never seen anything like this before. Could a weapon truly dominate someone’s mind?

When she met Luo Mingyu’s gaze, she instinctively looked toward the standing Sacred Lynx—and suddenly understood. It was that boy who had intervened. If she had realized this was the Sacred Lynx she admired, she might not have remained so calm.

“You brat, do you even know how he got all those injuries? You only see part of it. That wretched kid—he suffered like this all for your sake!” The Sacred Lynx pressed a hand on Rainchou’s shoulder, lifting the kneeling man to his feet.

“For me? Impossible! He killed my mother and nearly ate me! There’s no way he suffered for me—he deserves this! His sins must be punished!” Xiao Wu clenched his bow tightly, refusing to believe otherwise.

“Deserve? Hmph.” The Sacred Lynx snorted. “Clearly, you’ve had no proper upbringing, brat. And you—let your woman keep you in line.”

With a sweep of his hand, holy Dou Qi flowed into Rainchou’s body. After a moment, the lynx shook his head. “No, I’m too old. The backlash from your formation has left you with deep internal injuries. Your skin is already decaying, your internal damage extreme. That you survived is a miracle.”

“Indeed,” Ling Ruoxi murmured. “His injuries are the worst I’ve ever seen. Left untreated for hundreds of years, his internal organs were near collapse. Yet even so, he tangled with Luo Mingyu for so long… truly remarkable.”

Meanwhile, the child standing there understood none of the humans’ conversation. “What are you talking about? Tell me!”

“Fine. As your father, I’ll explain.” Luo Mingyu smiled faintly, pressing his hand on Xiao Wu’s head. “His injuries weren’t caused by you, but because of you he suffered. The wounds came from the formation. The island’s inherent toxicity is deadly; he absorbed all the poison from the island through the formation. His body will never heal. In other words, he was just a vessel, a container for the toxins!”

A sudden flash of realization struck. From the moment Rainchou revealed his true form, Luo Mingyu had known. He had just chosen not to reveal the secret—let the person speak for themselves.

“So what? He deserved it. He put all the poison into his body. What does that have to do with me?” Xiao Wu snapped, retracting his arrow.

“And you? Any words to say? He’ll know eventually,” the Sacred Lynx asked, stretching lazily like a cat. “I’m not interested. Brat, next time you drag me out as cannon fodder, I’ll make sure your married life is miserable!”

With that, the silver-white figure vanished into the ocean in a flash of black light.

Luo Mingyu smirked. “If you threaten me again, I may never let you out in my lifetime.”

“Uh… that’s your true beast?” Ling Ruoxi whispered, realizing the Silver Wolf lived in the beast dimension. Could the previous figure have been the Sacred Lynx?

The legendary cute, fluffy Sacred Lynx… was actually that small boy? Ling Ruoxi buried her face in her hands. That thing wasn’t even half as cute as Silver Wolf.

“Thanks for the compliment,” Silver Wolf said smugly, looking at her.

Rainchou slowly stood without saying a word, turning to leave.

Ling Ruoxi froze. “Aren’t you going to explain? At least tell Xiao Wu the truth—he’s still a child.”

“There’s nothing to explain.” Rainchou’s eyes glinted coldly as he shut them, taking a weak step forward before collapsing.

“Hey!” Ling Ruoxi caught him, shocked that someone so severely injured could still be so stubborn. Luckily, her medical training could finally be of use.

Xiao Wu clenched his fists. “Mother, don’t save him! He’s my enemy!”

“Xiao Wu, maybe he has his reasons. Let’s save him first,” Ling Ruoxi whispered, casting a pleading glance at Luo Mingyu.

Shrugging helplessly, Luo Mingyu replied, “Understood. The wife is always right. Let’s carry him back.”

“What are you doing?!” The child’s face darkened completely. Golden light pulsed around him, his tiny hands trembling. He raised his head, pointing at the real culprit. “He killed my mother! He tried to kill me! If you help him, why save me?!”

“Kid, saving you was accidental—we didn’t even know you were in there.” Silver Wolf held his head in disbelief. The brat was really headstrong.

Accidental!

Xiao Wu’s eyes blazed crimson as he realized the humans hadn’t intended to save him at all—they never saw him as one of their own.

“Fine! I get it! You humans, along with this stinky snake, want to take my territory? Not so easy! I’ll kill you all! All Death Island beasts, obey—take them down!” He spread his hands, golden light erupting around him.

He had returned—and now these arrogant intruders would see who truly ruled here!

“Xiao Wu, that’s not what we meant…” Ling Ruoxi tried to explain, but the child interrupted.

“You are just humans. I am merely a beast. You came here to covet my bloodline, my divine beast blood! I hate you all. I’ll wipe you out, take my descendants to your continent, and turn your world into ours. Humans will only be slaves!” Hatred and rage burned in his eyes.

Luo Mingyu said nothing, merely raising his hand. Purple Dou Qi lifted Rainchou, doing nothing else.

The figure, half-crouched, slowly stood, brushing hair from his face. His sharp gaze softened as he pressed a hand on Xiao Wu’s shoulder. “Xiao Wu, you can’t do this. I never saw you as just a beast, and I don’t know what kind of beast you are. Look at what happened just now—do you really think Rainchou is purely evil?”

“He… liar!” Xiao Wu’s eyes flashed gold as he raised his hand. Golden Dou Qi erupted, ready to annihilate anyone standing in the way of his revenge.

“Enough.” A smile curved Luo Mingyu’s lips. He gently pressed Xiao Wu’s glowing hands, bringing them to his side.

“You know, the woman you call ‘mother’ is mine. Enough fussing. Even if it took ten thousand years to trap you, I’d still cooperate,” he said.

A flash later, the figure disappeared over the ocean, leaving only his echo: “Death Island, I will return. I’ll make you scoundrels suffer!”

“This brat… was it poor parenting, mother or father? His head just doesn’t work!” Silver Wolf muttered, then fell silent, sensing the murderous aura. He remembered that his master was recognized by this child as “mother.”

“Let’s check Rainchou’s injuries first,” Ling Ruoxi said, frowning. With the barriers ahead, even that child likely couldn’t break through. The immediate priority: saving this formidable man.
