Mo Yanzhi had no idea what Han Tingxuan was planning. So when he saw the other man stop in front of Weizi Restaurant, one of the two biggest restaurants in town, his heart sank.
He hesitated before saying, “We don’t have enough money to eat here. How about we come next time?”
Of course Han Tingxuan knew they didn’t have enough money. He had come here not to eat, but to make money!
However… until he had succeeded, he couldn’t tell Mo Yanzhi about that.
So Han Tingxuan asked, “Yanzhi, which restaurant do you usually sell the game you hunt to?”
Mo Yanzhi had always been addressed by his full name, so when he heard the two words “Yanzhi,” he was slightly stunned.
He quickly answered, “Another restaurant.”
“Why not this one?” Han Tingxuan asked. “This place seems to have quite a reputation.”
“They have their own dedicated suppliers. They don’t buy from individual hunters. Besides, I can’t guarantee that I’ll have something to supply every single day of the year, nor can I guarantee that I’ll be able to provide the quantity they need.”
“I see…” Han Tingxuan nodded. “We’re short of money right now, so perhaps we can give it another try. I’ve thought of a good way to persuade the owner. How about this? I’ll go in and give it a try. You wait outside.”
Upon hearing this, Mo Yanzhi immediately said, “I’ll go in with you.”
Han Tingxuan looked at Mo Yanzhi in some surprise.
Mo Yanzhi pursed his lips. “That way, even if we run into Manager Zhou, it won’t matter…”
Han Tingxuan paused for a moment.
Only after searching through his memories did he remember that the original owner had a grudge against one of the two managers inside—Manager Zhou.
This restaurant had both a head manager and a deputy manager. The head manager, Manager Qian, rarely handled business personally, so most of the day-to-day affairs were managed by the second manager, Manager Zhou.
In the past, the original owner had joined forces with two local thugs to make trouble for one of Manager Zhou’s nephews. Thus, a grudge had been formed between them.
Manager Zhou had even warned that if the original owner dared to cause trouble again, he would make him pay for it!
After that, the original owner had basically gone out of his way to avoid this restaurant.
However, while they were on their way here, Han Tingxuan had subtly asked around about the restaurants in town. In the eyes of most people, Weizi Restaurant had a pretty good reputation…
So there was already a conflict between them?
Han Tingxuan smiled even more.
Originally, he had no excuse. Now, however, he had one.
“It’s fine, Yanzhi. I’ll go in by myself. You wait outside.”
Mo Yanzhi was about to say something else, but Han Tingxuan said firmly, “Be good.”
Mo Yanzhi froze and fell silent. He lowered his head slightly.
“All right. I’ll wait for you outside.”
Seeing Mo Yanzhi looking so obedient with his head lowered made Han Tingxuan feel that something was strangely out of place.
Yet, at the same time, his heart softened a little.
He patted Mo Yanzhi on the shoulder and walked inside.
As soon as the waiter saw someone entering, he came forward to greet him.
When he saw Han Tingxuan, a flash of disdain quickly crossed his eyes. However, the waiter concealed it very well. In the blink of an eye, he was smiling again as he greeted him.
“Welcome, sir. Just one person? Would you like a table in the main hall or a private seat?”
Han Tingxuan knew what kind of person the original owner had been. The fact that the waiter hadn’t immediately driven him out showed that the restaurant’s staff had received pretty good training.
No wonder business here was so prosperous.
Han Tingxuan smiled slightly.
His smile was neither fawning nor servile, nor was it arrogant or conceited. It was simply natural.
“Brother, I’m here to see your Manager Zhou. I’ve brought an apology gift to make amends.”
“Make amends?”
The waiter was slightly stunned and instinctively looked toward the counter…
Because of the time of day, there weren’t many customers in the restaurant.
In fact, Zhou Linhan had already heard what was being said over here. Han Tingxuan’s explanation had left him both surprised and suspicious.
The waiter saw that Manager Zhou didn’t say anything, but he also hadn’t objected.
So he led Han Tingxuan over.
“Manager Zhou, what happened last time was my fault. This time, I’ve come sincerely to apologize to you. To show my remorse, I’ve also brought a gift. Could Manager Zhou spare me the time it takes to drink a cup of tea?”
Han Tingxuan’s expression was extremely sincere.
Zhou Linhan frowned slightly as he scrutinized Han Tingxuan without saying a word.
He simply felt that the way this person spoke, his appearance, and his mannerisms seemed… somewhat different from before?
At this moment, Han Tingxuan continued, “I know I was a bit too reckless and unruly in the past. After suffering a serious illness this time, I’ve decided to completely turn over a new leaf. I hope Manager Zhou can be magnanimous and not hold my past actions against me. And I guarantee that the gift I’ve brought will definitely be something Manager Zhou is interested in.”
Zhou Linhan still said nothing.
However, after remaining silent for a while, he finally said indifferently, “Come with me.”
With that, Han Tingxuan followed Zhou Linhan upstairs.
Following behind him, Han Tingxuan quietly let out a breath of relief.
He wasn’t afraid that this man would refuse his “gift.”
What he was afraid of was that the other party wouldn’t even want to see him—wouldn’t even give him the opportunity to discuss business!
For now, this was a pretty good start, wasn’t it?
Sure enough, merchants valued honesty and trustworthiness.
There was a reason that, since ancient times, sincerity had always come before trust.
