Zhou Hai slowly looked toward Hu Xiaoyu beside him. She had her jade-like arms folded across her chest, a gesture that only made her graceful figure appear even more alluring. However, her question left him slightly confused for a moment.

“She’s my younger sister.”

Hu Xiaoyu tilted her head and studied Zhou Hai with a more serious expression.

“Same father? Or same mother? Are you biologically related?”

Zhou Hai shook his head, but his tone became more formal.

“Not biologically related. But I have an adoption agreement. She’s the adopted daughter of my teacher. After my teacher passed away, I had no choice but to take care of her.”

Hu Xiaoyu waved a hand dismissively.

“I’ve already heard that from Xiao Qiang. I just didn’t know you were the ‘Brother Luo Luo’ he mentioned. Forget it, I didn’t mean anything by it. Don’t overthink.”

They didn’t continue the topic, because the little loli had already run toward them with Watt.

In such hot weather, after running like that, both of them were covered in sweat. The little loli hugged Zhou Hai’s arm tightly.

“Zhou Zhou, I’ve finished everything!”

Zhou Hai pulled her little “claws” off his arm, handed her a pack of tissues, and asked, “Are you satisfied with the dorm?”

“It’s really nice! It seems they assigned rooms based on grades. It’s a two-person room, like a hotel standard room. There’s a laundry area and bathroom, and all the facilities are complete.”

“My roommate is an older sister. She even let me choose the bed first—she’s really kind!”

Zhou Hai gently patted her head, smiling softly.

“As long as you’re satisfied.”

“Alright, let’s go eat.”

The little loli’s eyes widened as she nodded. Her expression was so similar to Pork Knuckle’s that Zhou Hai almost laughed.

Watt, who was walking behind them, looked at her like he’d seen a ghost—but immediately shrank back when she shot him a warning look. He went to stand beside Hu Xiaoyu and said a few words.

Hu Xiaoyu waved them on. “Alright, stop standing here baking like dried fish. I think I’ve already turned two shades darker this morning.”

The little loli giggled. She really liked Hu Xiaoyu and felt an instant connection with her.

“Sister Hu is already glowing white, don’t worry!”

Watt cleared his throat. “Ahem… before we leave, can we discuss how we should address each other? Otherwise it’s awkward.”

Zhou Hai stayed silent. This really had nothing to do with him—was someone supposed to call him uncle? That would be ridiculous.

Hu Xiaoyu grinned.

“Behave yourself. Just don’t call me ‘stepmom’ and we’re fine—I won’t accept it even if you do!”

“Other than that, anything is fine. You can call me Sister Hu, Sister Yu, Xiaoyu, or even my full name. Got it?”

All three of them were speechless.

Watt looked at the loli resentfully. The loli shrugged as if it had nothing to do with her—after all, this was his “stepmom,” there was nothing she could do.

Watt lowered his head.

“I won’t call anything… I’m hungry.”

Hu Xiaoyu tried to pat Watt’s head like Zhou Hai did, but his hair was stiff like steel wire. She paused, then rubbed her hands awkwardly.

“Alright, enough talk. Let’s go. Xiao Luo Luo, think about what you want to eat today—it’s your choice.”

The loli looked at Zhou Hai. Seeing no objection, she began thinking seriously as they walked out and got into the car, heading toward the seaside.

The next day, September 6th, the little loli officially enrolled.

Because military training was mandatory after school started, she would be gone for at least a week.

Both Uncle Lu and Aunt Lu came to see her off. The loli’s eyes turned red, and Pork Knuckle rushed into the car first, curling up on her lap for comfort.

She stroked Pork Knuckle’s head, pouting the entire ride, but Zhou Hai didn’t seem worried, which confused her.

“Zhou Zhou… you won’t see me for a week. You’re not worried?”

Zhou Hai shook his head.

“No. It’s good for you. You don’t usually exercise much anyway—this will help. Just remember to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water.”

Hearing that, she immediately perked up, sitting in the passenger seat and swinging her legs while humming.

Zhou Hai glanced at her and continued, “After you officially start school, you need to exercise properly. And don’t skip breakfast—you won’t grow taller otherwise.”

Her smile froze instantly.

She hugged Pork Knuckle and stared at Zhou Hai furiously.

“Zhou Zhou, can you not be so hurtful? Don’t expose people’s weaknesses.”

Zhou Hai suppressed a laugh but didn’t continue—because he suddenly stretched out his right hand to shield her body and slammed the brakes.

The car screeched to a stop.

The loli screamed and lurched forward. Pork Knuckle, in her arms, was flung downward by inertia, its paw hitting the side of the car door as it let out a sharp howl.

Zhou Hai looked ahead—the distance to the car in front was barely a fist’s length.

Behind them, the situation was worse: the car behind failed to brake in time and bumped into another vehicle, causing a chain reaction of collisions.

The loli panicked and quickly picked up the whining Pork Knuckle.

Zhou Hai checked its limbs and body. Even without a full examination, he was certain—it wasn’t seriously injured.

It was just frightened.

He patted her shoulder.

“Don’t worry, Pork Knuckle is fine. No fractures or serious injury—just got scared.”

Hearing this, she finally relaxed.

She comforted Pork Knuckle softly, but the dog still whimpered dramatically, lifting its front paw and acting pitiful. She kept soothing it, rubbing it, and even fed it a piece of dried beef before it quieted slightly.

Soon, a traffic police officer arrived.

After inspecting the situation, he glanced into the car at the dog.

“Your dog injured?”

Zhou Hai shook his head. “Just bumped it a little. Should be fine.”

But at that exact moment, Pork Knuckle leaned into the loli and let out an even louder, tragic howl—completely contradicting Zhou Hai’s words.

The officer froze, then quickly finished his report.

“It’s recorded. The front car will handle compensation.”

After saluting, he left.

Zhou Hai rolled up the window and glanced at Pork Knuckle, still dramatically howling.

He tapped it lightly.

The loli tried to stop him, but seeing his serious expression, she hesitated.

Pork Knuckle looked up at him with grievance, still whining softly.

Zhou Hai pointed at its front paw.

“Pork Knuckle, you’re holding up the wrong paw. I clearly saw it—you injured your right front paw when you fell. Why are you holding up your left one?”
