It took Fang He only two seconds to subdue Poacher No. 3.
Her small-joint grappling technique flowed smoothly and cleanly—efficient, sharp, with no unnecessary flashy movements. In a single second, she completely locked him down and pinned him face-first into the cold, damp mud, unable to move at all.
Watching from the side, Miao Yunyou kept exclaiming how impressive it was, while secretly feeling lucky that Fang He hadn’t ended up fighting her during the finals that day…
By the time the others rushed over, the fight was already over. The poacher was lying face-down in the mud, his arms twisted behind his back, body stiff as he didn’t dare struggle anymore. He had completely lost the ability to resist.
Fang He casually dusted the dirt off her sleeves, her expression calm and indifferent, as though she had merely brushed away a fallen leaf. To her, this little trouble wasn’t worth mentioning.
The group acted swiftly and decisively, escorting all three poachers into an unused warehouse inside the resort area.
The three men were tightly bound with coarse hemp rope and lined up against the icy wall. The ropes dug deeply into their flesh, leaving them utterly unable to move.
Su Qingyu had tied the ropes personally, and it even looked like he had secretly added a few extra “tricks” while doing so, though Miao Yunyou hadn’t had time to ask about it.
She stood side by side with Fang He at the warehouse entrance and said apologetically, “Sorry for dragging you into this mess.”
Fang He smiled faintly, her brows relaxed and easygoing. “Just helping out, that’s all. By the way, what’s with these people? Haven’t they watched the martial arts tournament? They still dared to come here and cause trouble for you?”
What were they thinking? Was being alive not good enough?
“Who knows.” Miao Yunyou shrugged. “They said they just got out of prison. Maybe they’d only been out a few days and hadn’t paid attention to the news. Anyway, I already called the police.”
Inside the warehouse, Poacher No. 2 lifted his head at those words. Even though he was tied up tightly, his eyes were still arrogant and overbearing. Chin raised proudly, he threatened them in a domineering tone:
“The police? Little girl, I suggest you let us go right now. Leave yourself some room for the future. My uncle is a deputy director at the municipal Public Security Bureau. He’s got connections all over this city. Your resort still has to do business here in the future, so you’d better think carefully about the consequences.”
Miao Yunyou raised an eyebrow slightly, her tone teasing and amused.
“Oh? So after all this, turns out you’ve got someone backing you from above?”
So this was the legendary “My Deputy Director Uncle” scenario?
Seeing her tone soften, the man became even more arrogant. He sneered and began boasting:
“Otherwise, why do you think I’m so bold? I’ve gotten into trouble plenty of times before—when was I ever locked up for more than two or three days? Let me tell you the truth: today’s incident isn’t even a big deal.
Besides, those lousy cats of yours aren’t nationally protected wildlife. We didn’t even get the needle in, so at most it counts as attempted theft. In a situation like this, the worst we’d get is an administrative penalty—a fine and a few days in detention. Then I’ll walk right back out. I advise you not to make trouble for yourself and just let us go already.”
“Wow, that impressive, huh?” Miao Yunyou exclaimed while quietly turning on the voice recorder on her phone. “Then tell me, what’s the name of this director uncle of yours… oh wait, deputy director uncle?
I’ll look him up online. Can’t just take your word for it.”
The man was completely off guard. He casually blurted out a name, sounding smug and self-satisfied.
Miao Yunyou searched it online, and sure enough, the person actually existed. On the webpage, a formal ID-style photo appeared. The middle-aged man in the picture looked strikingly similar to the poacher in front of them—the eyebrows, the jawline, almost identical.
Fang He leaned over curiously to take a look too, and she also felt they were probably really related.
The official résumé was neat and polished, with the evaluation clearly stating:
“Upright in conduct, strict with self-discipline, impartial in law enforcement.”
Miao Yunyou clicked her tongue twice.
“Well then, I’ll reluctantly believe he’s your uncle. But this leader looks full of righteous integrity—steady eyes, upright demeanor. No matter how I look at him, he seems like the type who handles things fairly. He probably wouldn’t casually cover for his relatives, right?”
Those words completely fueled the man’s arrogance. He let out a cold laugh, his eyes full of dark disdain.
“How naïve.
Let me tell you this—my uncle’s own son, my cousin, once hit and killed someone with his car. In the end, they forcibly changed the case into the victim drunk-driving, paid some compensation, and settled it without even leaving a criminal record.
Around here, whatever my uncle says becomes the rule.”
He glared viciously at Miao Yunyou, his tone carrying naked threats.
“The current Public Security Bureau chief is already old and about to retire. The next bureau chief position is almost certainly going to my uncle. If you insist on going against us today, once he takes office, I’ll make sure your resort has no way to survive here. You won’t be able to stay in business in this city at all.”
Miao Yunyou replied expressionlessly, “Wow, that’s so evil~”
Beside her, Fang He noticed the recording icon continuously flashing on the phone screen. She pressed her lips together tightly, forcefully suppressing the smile tugging at the corners of her mouth as she silently watched the show unfold.
Seeing Miao Yunyou’s “frightened” expression, the three poachers all laughed together.
“Good. As long as you know to be scared, hurry up and let us go!”
Unexpectedly, Miao Yunyou’s eyes curved as she smiled.
“But this reminds me—someone else also introduced me to a few grassroots government officials before. Let me think… what position was he holding again?”
She deliberately dragged out her words, slowly speaking under the tense gazes of the three men:
“Oh right, I remember now. The current director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau. What a coincidence, huh? Just happens to be one rank higher than your deputy director uncle.”
The moment those words fell, the three poachers froze simultaneously. Then, almost at the same time, they burst into mocking laughter, their faces full of contempt and ridicule—
“Who are you trying to fool?!”
“Who do you think you are, pretending to be some big shot?!”
“Cut the mysterious act already. Stop trying to save face by bluffing!”
The three of them looked utterly disdainful, completely refusing to believe her. To them, she was just a young girl putting on airs to scare them—after all, Miao Yunyou simply looked far too young to seem like someone with powerful connections.
Too lazy to explain further, Miao Yunyou dialed the number right in front of them.
The call connected almost immediately after a single ring. From the speaker came the deep, steady, authoritative voice of a middle-aged man, his tone familiar and polite:
“Ah, President Miao! Rare for you to call me first. What’s the occasion today? Did something happen?”
Compared to calling her “Boss Miao” or “Coach Miao,” the bureau chief deliberately used the title “President Miao,” his attitude especially respectful.
Not to mention the higher-ups from B City had personally instructed him to look after her to some extent—even her performance during the martial arts tournament alone was enough that nobody dared underestimate Miao Yunyou casually.
The clear voice echoed distinctly through the phone speaker, reverberating throughout the empty warehouse.
The mocking smiles on the three poachers’ faces instantly froze solid. Their pupils contracted sharply, and their entire bodies stiffened.
It was actually the voice of the municipal Public Security Bureau chief—the same man who frequently appeared in local news broadcasts!
A sly smile curled onto Miao Yunyou’s lips as she spoke innocently into the phone in an unhurried tone:
“Director Wang, here’s the situation. Three poachers came to our resort today carrying veterinary tranquilizer darts, planning to steal the celebrity leopard cats from our scenic area. Honestly, something this minor wouldn’t normally be worth troubling you over.”
She turned her head to glance at the three pale-faced men, deliberately slowing her speech:
“But these guys were especially arrogant. They kept saying their uncle is a deputy bureau director and even claimed that said deputy director is about to replace you soon. They also openly bragged that their relatives could privately cover up a fatal hit-and-run case.
And they threatened to shut down my resort and make sure I suffer the consequences.
I’ve already recorded everything they said. I’ll send it over for you to listen to later.”
She gave a slight shrug, her smile bright and brilliant.
“I’m~ so~ scared~ right now~”
