For several days, the infrastructure projects had been progressing smoothly, and everything in the park remained in good order.
Early that morning, a temporary worker responsible for cleaning the back mountain area hurried nervously to Miao Yunyōu. In his hands, he carefully held an object tightly wrapped in cloth. His tone was anxious yet cautious.
“Leader, we found something strange in the bushes in the back mountain. It looks like a sharp hidden weapon. We didn’t dare handle it ourselves, worried it might be dangerous, so we brought it to you immediately.”
Miao Yunyōu took it and unwrapped the cloth. Between her fingers, she picked up a slender metal needle.
The surface of the needle was smooth and shiny. The tip was extremely sharp, and the tail had a small sealed valve. At a glance, it was clearly a modern object. The craftsmanship was refined, but it carried an unmistakable sense of danger.
Since Miao Yunyōu had never seen it before, she took a photo and searched it online. The moment she read the description, her expression darkened.
“This isn’t a hidden weapon. It’s a veterinary tranquilizer dart. The needle contains a powerful anesthetic capable of instantly knocking out large wild animals. It’s a tool used by poachers to illegally hunt and capture protected species. Extremely dangerous.”
The people beside her looked confused.
“But… there aren’t any rare or protected animals in our back mountain, right?”
Miao Yunyōu quickly pieced everything together.
“It must be those two leopard cats that guided people before. After their appearance went viral online and even made it to CCTV news, they became famous—and were targeted by poachers.”
“They’re trying to capture those rare leopard cats and sell them for profit. This dart was meant for them.”
Everyone immediately understood and became alert.
Tranquilizer darts didn’t distinguish targets—if an innocent tourist were accidentally hit, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Miao Yunyōu immediately ordered, “From now on, raise the alert level for the entire staff. Increase patrol frequency in the back mountain and forest areas. Anyone suspicious or unfamiliar must be reported immediately.”
“If anyone is found illegally entering or carrying dangerous items, don’t hesitate—under certain circumstances, you are allowed to subdue them directly!”
Not even half a day after the order was issued, a report came in that evening:
They had caught them.
Two filthy, ferocious-looking men were tightly bound with thick ropes. Shen Yàn and Luo Xinglan each carried one of them and brought them before Miao Yunyōu.
Both men were bruised and swollen, with scratches all over their faces and arms. Their clothes were torn to shreds, covered in dirt, looking utterly miserable. Fear still lingered in their eyes.
Seeing their condition, Miao Yunyōu felt somewhat satisfied, but she still turned to Luo Xinglan and asked, “You two did this?”
Luo Xinglan replied calmly and directly, “The cats did it.”
Su Qingyu on the side couldn’t help but laugh and added, “We didn’t even get to do anything.”
“When we arrived after receiving the report, these two were already surrounded by three cloud-patterned leopard cats. They were being thoroughly beaten up. The cats’ punches were so fierce that these two were curled up on the ground, crying and begging for mercy.”
Well, considering those leopard cats had once fought eagles before, dealing with two ordinary humans was nothing for them.
Miao Yunyōu slammed her thigh in regret.
“Oh no… I should’ve prioritized installing surveillance in the forest first! I missed such an amazing scene!”
This was truly painful for someone who loved entertaining chaos!
Su Qingyu quickly comforted her, “It’s okay, it’s okay. I recorded a bit of it. Do you want to see it, Leader?”
Miao Yunyōu’s eyes lit up instantly.
“You’re the smart one! Send it to me right now!”
“Oh, this actually reminds me,” Miao Yunyōu said. “We should purchase some body-worn cameras. From now on, when something like this happens, you all should wear them to preserve evidence.”
“That way, we won’t get framed by dishonest people.”
Everyone: “Ah… what is that? Not really sure. Whatever. The leader is wise.”
They originally thought the matter would end there, but unexpectedly, even in this situation, the two poachers still refused to cooperate.
Bound on the ground, they were still shouting threats loudly and arrogantly.
“Smart people would release us now! We still have a third accomplice hiding in the tourist-heavy area! If you call the police, he’ll immediately attack the tourists! When someone dies, your resort is finished!”
“Better to take a step back and let us go. We’ll forget this ever happened and never come back!”
Su Qingyu immediately kicked one of them to the ground.
“Oh? You think this is the kind of place where you get to act tough?”
Just then, a harsh burst of static came from the walkie-talkie on their waists. A third man’s vicious voice followed, full of brazen threats:
“Release them immediately! If I don’t see them within five minutes, I’ll attack the tourists right here and now! Worst case, we all go down together!”
Miao Yunyōu’s expression instantly turned cold. Without hesitation, she ordered the surveillance of the entire back mountain area to be pulled up and quickly locked onto the third person’s real-time location.
He was near the medical clinic.
The surveillance feed clearly showed him holding a weapon against the back of a tourist dressed in modern clothing.
Just as Miao Yunyōu was about to contact Chu Ningshuang at the clinic to rescue the hostage, she glanced at the hostage’s face on the monitor—and immediately relaxed.
The tension in her expression vanished. She even looked a little helpless and amused.
She squatted down, picked up the walkie-talkie from the poachers, pressed the transmit button, and said lightly:
“Hello, Player No. 3. I’m the owner of the resort. I’ll give you one last chance—are you really not planning to surrender?”
The third poacher replied fiercely:
“Release my two companions immediately, or I’ll kill this tourist! We already have criminal records anyway. Worst case, we go back inside for a while. We’re used to it.”
“But your resort? That’s going to suffer a huge loss!”
Miao Yunyōu didn’t panic at all. She continued chatting casually through the radio, smiling:
“Criminal records? So you just got out recently?”
“Oh right, did you watch that martial arts competition a while ago?”
She had already observed earlier that these two poachers showed no fear or respect toward her at all—something very rare nowadays.
The third poacher snapped:
“What martial arts competition? Never heard of it!”
“Alright then, that makes sense,” Miao Yunyōu nodded. Then she raised her voice slightly:
“Sorry about this, dear tourist. We really can’t negotiate with criminals, so you’ll have to rely on yourself and escape on your own. Is that convenient for you?”
Not only the third poacher, but even the two captured ones were completely stunned.
Is the resort owner insane? She doesn’t care about a tourist’s life at all?!
Even if capitalists are ruthless, this is way too heartless!
Then, they heard the “hostage” lightly chuckle and reply:
“It’s quite convenient.”
Because the tourist being held hostage by the poacher was none other than—
Instructor Fang He…
