Zuo Dan knew that grandmother simply didn’t want to interfere in young people’s matters. She had always been an open-minded elderly lady.
“Grandma, let’s start packing today. We can continue tomorrow, and the day after, we’ll move. The environment over there is great. I’m sure you’ll love it.”
“Alright.” Grandma chuckled in agreement.
With the moving date set, when Song Gang left that afternoon, he pulled Shen Yiming aside for a private conversation in the room. When they came out, Song Gang put on a serious expression, politely bid farewell to Grandma, and then left.
After he was gone, Zuo Dan immediately ran over to Shen Yiming. “What were you two talking about in there?”
Shen Yiming looked up at the ceiling. “Just chatting.”
“Liar. It must’ve been something sneaky.” Zuo Dan huffed, then turned around to help Grandma pack.
Because of Zuo Dan’s presence, Grandma was in a great mood all day, often breaking into laughter.
While packing in the afternoon, Grandma asked about Zuo Dan’s plans.
Zuo Dan replied, “My team hasn’t arranged things yet. I need to go back and find someone to take over my position, and I’ll need to train them for a while. But after that, I’ll come back to be with you. Definitely before October.”
“That’s fine,” Grandma said, not making a fuss. Even though they had already registered their marriage, in her eyes, a wedding ceremony was still necessary to make it official. As for Shen Yiming’s thoughts? She didn’t consider them at all. A woman marrying into a man’s family was already difficult enough—men should accommodate women more. That was something her late husband used to say.
As night fell and the family finished dinner, Zuo Dan sat with Grandma, chatting about their future happy life. Grandma laughed so much her face was glowing with joy.
In the kitchen, Shen Yiming boiled two large pots of hot water, then went back to his room to wash up thoroughly.
When he came out and saw the two still deep in conversation, he silently went back to boil another large pot of hot water, carrying it into Zuo Dan’s room and pouring it into the wooden bath bucket.
Then, he waited.
But the two kept chatting endlessly. By the time he had refilled the water a second time, Grandma finally yawned and went back to her room.
Shen Yiming quickly went to the kitchen to fetch more water for Grandma’s foot bath. On his way past Zuo Dan, he coughed lightly. “I’ve prepared hot water for you. Go take a bath—you’ll feel more comfortable.”
The mention of bathing made Zuo Dan’s heart skip a beat. She lowered her head and quickly slipped into the room.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw the steaming bath bucket. Blushing, she shut the door and started bathing, her mind wandering toward what might happen next.
As someone from the future, she placed more importance on legal marital status. Now that they were officially registered as husband and wife, certain things would naturally happen sooner or later. She and Shen Yiming liked each other, so she didn’t reject his intimacy.
Her only concern was… she had heard it was very painful.
After bathing, she hesitated in the room for a long while.
“Dandan, are you done? I’ll pour out the water,” Shen Yiming’s voice came from outside.
Zuo Dan blushed deeply. “Yes… coming.”
She hurriedly opened the door. Outside, Shen Yiming was also blushing, keeping his head down as he walked in to empty the water.
Zuo Dan didn’t help, feeling awkward as she sat to the side.
After cleaning up, Shen Yiming set the bath bucket aside and then left the room, returning a moment later with a book.
“Comrade Zuo Dan, from today onward, we are officially unbreakable revolutionary comrades. Starting now, we will learn together, improve together, and move toward a bright future together!”
Hearing that, Zuo Dan was delighted. Learning is great! Learning doesn’t hurt. She nodded seriously. “Good, good, good! Studying before bed will help us sleep better.”
Shen Yiming smiled and sat beside her, opening the book. Their heads touched as they read together.
But as soon as they turned to the first page, Zuo Dan’s eyes widened. She immediately covered her face.
“Shen Yiming! Where did you get this kind of book? You’re shameless!”
Shen Yiming remained serious. “Going into battle requires learning strategies. You can’t fight a battle without preparation!”
Zuo Dan shoved him. “I’m not looking, I’m not looking! Shameless! If you don’t know what to do, study it yourself. I’m not reading this with you!”
These words instantly provoked Shen Yiming. He snapped the book shut, tossed it into the corner, and pulled Zuo Dan into his arms. “Who said I didn’t know how?” He lowered his head and kissed her.
Both of them had just bathed, their bodies warm and carrying faint, lingering scents.
Their fragrances mixed together, creating a sense of intimate closeness.
Zuo Dan’s mind grew hazy from the kiss. She wrapped her arms around Shen Yiming.
When she felt him starting to tug at her clothes, she instinctively reached for his as well. It was as if they were competing, and soon, they had stripped each other clean.
Looking at the expanse of bare skin, Shen Yiming took a deep breath.
Zuo Dan saw him inhale deeply and suddenly remembered the time he had a nosebleed. “Shen Yiming, are you going to get a nosebleed again?”
Shen Yiming didn’t answer. He just lowered his head and sealed her lips, his hands eagerly roaming over her body. From top to bottom… until they finally reached the softness he had touched countless times before. His mind was filled with heat, his whole body feeling like it was floating. He could only rely on instinct—seeking more comfort, more pleasure…
Zuo Dan let out a soft sigh. Shen Yiming seemed quite skilled—maybe it wouldn’t hurt too much.
“Shen Yiming… what are you doing…” Zuo Dan struggled, kicking her legs in discomfort.
Shen Yiming was sweating profusely. “Wait… I’m looking for…”
“Looking for what?” Zuo Dan kicked him in the face. So much for acting like an expert.
Unwilling to give up, Shen Yiming moved closer again, trying to recall the images he had seen before… but it seemed like he never got to the later parts. Still, his body’s instincts were urging him forward. So, he followed his impulses, pressing against her and rubbing against her body.
A long while later, Zuo Dan lay against the pillow, panting as she stared speechlessly at her thighs. Then, she turned her gaze to Shen Yiming with disdain.
Beside her, Shen Yiming lay on the pillow, face completely flushed, eyes tightly shut, pretending to be asleep.
But in his mind, he was contemplating a very serious issue: Some knowledge truly needed to be studied.
Zuo Dan watched him for a moment, then kicked him. “Shen Yiming, don’t pretend to be asleep. Clean up your own mess.”
Shen Yiming immediately sprang up, put on his clothes, and dashed out. A short while later, he returned with a basin of water to clean up.
After everything was tidied up, Zuo Dan also got dressed. She reached out and patted Shen Yiming’s face. “Shen Yiming, if you don’t know something, stop overthinking it. Be a good boy and go back to your room to sleep.”
Shen Yiming’s face darkened. He pulled her into his arms. “Sleep.”
“Hehehe, sleep, sleep.” Zuo Dan snuggled into him excitedly, closing her eyes with a contented smile. No pain tonight! Shen Yiming, this little rascal, actually doesn’t know what he’s doing. Hahaha!
The next morning, Zuo Dan woke up feeling refreshed. Thinking about the events of last night, she couldn’t help but chuckle. Shen Yiming had already left the room, and when she looked around, even the book in the corner was gone.
When she stepped outside, she found Shen Yiming helping Grandma make breakfast. She quickly went over to assist.
She grinned and teased, “Shen Yiming, did you sleep well last night?”
Shen Yiming, unfazed, replied, “Not bad. I’ll probably sleep even better tonight.”
Zuo Dan smirked. Blowhard.
After breakfast, the three of them continued packing. Since everything was being sorted out, the house was in a mess. Shen Yiming suggested that they move to the new place today with essential items, and have the larger furniture transported by truck tomorrow.
So, after lunch, Shen Yiming went to arrange for a truck while the three of them rode over to the new house.
Seeing the neatly arranged home, Grandma was delighted. As she helped unpack, she praised, “You and Yiming both know how to manage a household. Look at how beautifully everything is arranged.”
Zuo Dan beamed. “It’s all thanks to Shen Yiming.” Then, she noticed something. “Wait, where is Shen Yiming?”
Grandma chuckled. “I think he went to the study. Men always like hiding in their studies. Your grandfather was the same.”
Shen Yiming didn’t emerge from the study until dinnertime. He looked refreshed, full of energy—not at all like someone who had been reading all afternoon.
Since they had just moved in and were still settling, they made a simple meal of noodles for dinner. Afterward, Zuo Dan took Grandma for a walk around the neighborhood. Only when Grandma had properly digested her food did they return home.
Back in the house, Grandma yawned and retired for the night.
Zuo Dan also hurried to wash up and head to bed. In the afternoon, she and Shen Yiming had agreed—she would sleep in the new bedroom, and he would sleep in the study.
But as soon as she entered her room, she saw Shen Yiming sitting brazenly on the bed, looking at her with a serious expression.
Zuo Dan widened her eyes. “Shen Yiming, what’s wrong with you now?”
Shen Yiming said seriously, “Comrade Zuo Dan, I’ve done some research on certain matters, and I think we should conduct some practical experiments.”
“…You really don’t give up, do you?” Zuo Dan chuckled, hooked her finger under his chin, and teased, “Come, come, let’s experiment. Let me experiment on you first.” After all, as long as she was comfortable in the end, it was Shen Yiming who was asking for trouble.
…
“…Shen Yiming, why are you putting down a handkerchief?”
“Uh… the book said there would be something.”
Zuo Dan, still groggy, wondered vaguely, Something? What something? Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her lower body, jolting her awake. She instinctively pushed at Shen Yiming. “It hurts! Shen Yiming, you’re hurting me…”
Shen Yiming froze, his forehead drenched in sweat, his face flushed red from holding himself back. “…It’s supposed to hurt a little… but it won’t after a while.”
Though he said that, he didn’t dare move for a long time.
Zuo Dan really felt the pain but couldn’t push Shen Yiming away. In frustration, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down, biting his shoulder hard. If she had to be in pain, they could suffer together.
Shen Yiming winced from the bite, a sudden jolt surging through his brain. Instinct took over…
“Shen Yiming, if you move again, I swear I’ll bite you to death!!”
As dawn approached, both of them woke up. Zuo Dan gritted her teeth and bit Shen Yiming again.
Shen Yiming took a deep breath and turned over.
By the time Zuo Dan woke up again, the sun was already high in the sky. The soft morning light filtering through the curtains made her eyes squint. She lay there for a moment before fully realizing where she was. Her gaze wandered across the room, stopping at a photo frame on the bedside table. It was a wedding photo, taken when they had just started dating—tricked into it by Shen Yiming.
Above the desk, a red paper-cut of the Double Happiness symbol was pasted on the wall.
Recalling the events of the night before, she pulled the blanket over her face. It’s real now… She and Shen Yiming were not only married on paper but had become husband and wife in every sense.
She was about to get up and dress when she noticed that she was already clothed—and perfectly clean. She curled her lips in amusement, got up, and walked to the wardrobe to change. Putting on a military uniform and tying her hair into a ponytail, she suddenly had a thought. Now that I’m a married woman, should I change my hairstyle? Short hair is trendy these days. I should get Shen Yiming to take me to the barber shop.
As she was fixing her hair in the mirror, Shen Yiming pushed the door open and walked in. He looked slightly surprised to see her awake, then walked over and hugged her from behind. “Um… does it still hurt? I made you some brown sugar water.” He figured she needed to replenish her strength.
At his reminder, Zuo Dan instantly recalled everything. Without warning, she reached out and started pulling at his shirt.
Shen Yiming grabbed her hand. “My grandma is outside.”
“Don’t flatter yourself! What do you think I’m doing?” Zuo Dan smirked and unbuttoned his shirt, finally satisfied when she saw the deep bite marks on his shoulder.
Then, remembering Grandma was still outside, she asked, “She doesn’t know, right?”
Shen Yiming answered solemnly, “When I went back to my room, Grandma wasn’t up yet. Besides, we’re legally married.”
Zuo Dan: “…” How did I end up marrying such a shameless man?
As they stepped out of the room one after the other, Grandma was already sitting at the table, drinking porridge. Seeing Zuo Dan, she smiled warmly. “Dandan, come have breakfast. Later, Yiming will go back to move the rest of the things. You and I will stay home and rest.”
“Oh.” Zuo Dan lowered her head, sipping her porridge. She didn’t dare meet Grandma’s sharp gaze.
After breakfast, Shen Yiming left energetically to move their belongings. Since everything was packed the day before, all he had to do was load the truck.
Barely an hour after he left, he returned with Song Gang, both men bustling in and out, placing furniture in their new home.
Zuo Dan and Grandma worked together to clean up. By noon, everything was in place.
Shen Yiming solemnly hung up photographs of his late grandfather and mother on the wall, lit incense, and informed them that they had moved into a new home.
Song Gang, feeling a little overwhelmed by the mix of solemnity and joy, suggested, “Let’s go out for a meal to celebrate Shen Yiming’s new home!”
Shen Yiming hesitated, glancing at Zuo Dan. He was worried she might not feel comfortable going out. “Maybe we should eat at home instead.”
Zuo Dan immediately countered, “No way! We should take Grandma out for a nice meal and enjoy the lively atmosphere.”
Shen Yiming raised an eyebrow before nodding. “Alright.”
The group went to a restaurant and ordered food. As soon as the dishes arrived, Song Gang clinked glasses with Shen Yiming.
“Shen Yiming?”
Just as they were about to drink, a soft, feminine voice called out. Song Gang looked up and saw a beautiful young woman. Damn, trouble already? Shen Yiming just got married, and now some girl shows up? His wife’s not going to let this slide!
He sneaked a glance at Zuo Dan, expecting an explosion of jealousy—only to find her merely looking a little surprised.
“Comrade Liu Lili, what a coincidence,” Zuo Dan said.
Liu Lili forced a smile. “I’m here with my mom for a meal.” She turned to Shen Yiming. “Shen Yiming, I need to talk to you. It’s something important… and it might concern you.”
Shen Yiming glanced at Zuo Dan, who immediately urged, “Go on, go on. Just come back quickly and finish your meal.” She was actually curious about what Liu Lili had to say.
Once Shen Yiming stepped outside with Liu Lili, Song Gang turned to Zuo Dan and sighed. “Sister-in-law, you’re really this calm?”
“What’s there to worry about? She was one of the educated youths from our village. She knew Shen Yiming before I did. If something was going to happen between them, it would’ve happened long ago.” Zuo Dan spoke confidently.
Grandma chuckled. “Our Dandan is a smart girl.”
Hahahha what a night. I am also curious about what Liu Lili has to say.

HA! Yiming is finally a realistic make lead.
I laughed a lot reading this chapter. It's a shame that the focus of the story has shifted away from Zuo Dan and her magical space, but even so, it continues to entertain. Now that the relationship between Zuo Dan and Shen Yiming has been sealed, I hope that Zuo Dan's magical space will become relevant to the story again.
