When Xi Yuechen returned, Su Ruo was feeding Xi Zi.
Pushing open the door, Xi Yuechen saw Su Ruo staring absentmindedly at Xi Zi’s delicate little face, muttering something under her breath.
Xi Yuechen now loved watching Su Ruo and their child together. Every time he saw such a scene, a warm current would slowly flow through his heart, giving him a secret sense of joy and emotion.
Even now, in such a seemingly mundane scene, Xi Yuechen was completely absorbed. His dark, deep eyes were fixed on Su Ruo, his expression unusually gentle. Even Su Ruo noticed something was off and instinctively looked up.
“Chief, you’re back?” Su Ruo first smiled with surprise, then frowned slightly. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Su Ruo’s words made Xi Yuechen withdraw his gaze. He gently closed the door behind him and walked over.
Tilting her head, Su Ruo carefully examined Xi Yuechen’s face, trying to read him.
The transfer order should have come through by now, right? Even if not, he should at least know “where he’s headed,” Su Ruo thought.
Suddenly, she remembered the look in Xi Yuechen’s eyes just now—deep and intense. An unsettling feeling surged in her heart.
Are we about to be separated again? All of Su Ruo’s emotions plunged into despair. Why was he staring at her so tenderly just to abandon his wife and child?
With that thought, Su Ruo let out a disappointed hum, shot Xi Yuechen a glare, and turned her full attention to Xi Zi, ignoring his father completely.
Xi Yuechen was baffled by Su Ruo’s sudden reaction. He furrowed his brows and asked in a deep voice, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
Su Ruo bit her lip, answering perfunctorily, though she clearly knew what she was doing!
Xi Yuechen didn’t understand. He simply walked over and sat beside her. “Don’t act like this. Talk to me properly.”
…Su Ruo felt even more frustrated. So now that you’re going to leave us, I’m not allowed to express my true feelings? I’m not your subordinate—you don’t get to boss me around like this!
“I’m not acting up. I’m just like this.”
Su Ruo mimicked Xi Yuechen’s tone—flat and neutral—but Xi Yuechen was not naive. There was no mistaking the dissatisfaction in her voice.
Yet Xi Yuechen didn’t understand. He lowered his head, wondering when he had offended this little woman. Everything had been fine just moments ago, so why did she suddenly look like she was carrying a heavy grudge?
Helplessly, Xi Yuechen couldn’t figure out what had caused Su Ruo’s mood swing. He was certain he hadn’t done anything to make her angry.
“Then why are you upset?”
Xi Yuechen’s cluelessness left Su Ruo completely exasperated. She couldn’t even summon anger. Of course—she had always known he was a block of ice, cold and stubborn. Calling him insensitive was mild; he was obstinate to the extreme. Getting upset at him was exhausting. He could unknowingly ruin her mood and feel perfectly fine about it.
“You should know where you’re being transferred, right?”
Su Ruo didn’t want to play cat-and-mouse with Xi Yuechen any longer. She decided to speak plainly, her expression softening slightly.
Enough. Why bother arguing with him? It would hurt no one but herself. She took a deep breath, realizing there was no one to blame but fate.
“Mm.” Xi Yuechen’s simple response finally made her realize the real reason for her unease.
Knowing why Su Ruo was unhappy, Xi Yuechen’s heart ached slightly.
“Where to this time? Far?”
Su Ruo asked with a resigned tone, having no hope left. Whatever the distance or difficulty, once Xi Zi grew a bit older, she would insist on accompanying him.
“Not far, just in B City.”
Xi Yuechen wiped away the bitterness in his heart and allowed a slight smile.
“What?!”
Su Ruo’s eyes widened in shock. Her mouth remained open.
B City? So he’s not leaving? Blinking a few times, she tried to suppress the rising joy and asked again to be sure.
“You’re not joking, right?”
Having fully braced herself for a faraway assignment, getting such a completely opposite answer left her stunned. If the Chief wasn’t joking, this transfer was perfect!
Though she knew Xi Yuechen rarely joked, Su Ruo couldn’t help but be suspicious. If he was merely saying it to comfort her, the disappointment would be unbearable.
“You’re not joking, right?”
Seeing her mix of joy and doubt, Xi Yuechen felt helpless. When had his credibility become so low?
“No, it’s true.”
Finding Su Ruo staring dumbfoundedly adorable, Xi Yuechen reached out to touch her hair. But just as his hand extended, he changed direction.
Where did his hand go? Naturally, toward little Xi Zi, who had been neglected by his parents!
Xi Yuechen had noticed that Xi Zi’s little face was pressed against Su Ruo’s full, soft chest, eyes closed, perfectly still—obviously asleep.
Su Ruo wanted to ask more, trusting Xi Yuechen, but disbelief kept her from speaking. Before she could, her attention was fully drawn to what Xi Yuechen did next.
Xi Yuechen carefully scooped Xi Zi from Su Ruo’s arms and held him close to himself.
Su Ruo blushed, feeling guilty. She hadn’t even realized Xi Zi had fallen asleep while feeding. How could she be so careless, focusing only on herself?
Heart aching, she didn’t stop Xi Yuechen and let him take Xi Zi.
But…
Xi Zi, having been ignored, had eaten and fallen asleep on his own. Naturally, his little mouth still clung tightly to Su Ruo’s nipple.
In that sealed space, being forcibly pulled by Xi Yuechen caused a physical reaction. Su Ruo’s lowered eyes and sensitive ears witnessed the scene:
As Xi Yuechen carried Xi Zi, Xi Zi’s lips, still grasping Su Ruo, were dragged along, stretching her breast slightly. When the distance reached a certain point, the room suddenly echoed with a “pop.” Su Ruo’s nipple sprang out of Xi Zi’s mouth, bouncing a few times along with her breast, trembling, especially the tip.
Su Ruo’s heart trembled in response…
Xi Yuechen’s eyes also flinched…
Xi Zi, oblivious, just sucked a couple of times and continued sleeping.
But the two adults were far from relaxed.
Su Ruo’s face flushed crimson. Faced with this embarrassing and erotic scene, she couldn’t react, lips parted but silent, eyes darting everywhere, mind blank.
In her embarrassment, she forgot her breast was exposed—also in Xi Yuechen’s sight. Though it had stopped trembling.
Even Xi Yuechen, normally composed, was stunned by this sudden erotic scene. His expression remained calm, but his facial muscles were stiff. His arms holding Xi Zi were tense, and his gaze lingered uncomfortably on Su Ruo’s chest…
Since Su Ruo’s pregnancy, Xi Yuechen had been abstaining for a long time. Before, his self-restraint was easy, but now, having tasted her, seeing such a scene made it almost impossible to stay indifferent. Who could remain calm?
So, with Su Ruo dumbfounded and exposed, Xi Yuechen had no choice but to escape while holding Xi Zi.
Why say “escape”? Because he quickly went downstairs, handed Xi Zi to Shen Liang, then hurried back to the nearly-unused public bathroom, taking a cold shower, completely avoiding Su Ruo.
That was a clear escape.
Su Ruo, staring at him rushing out, finally snapped back to reality.
She quickly pulled down her clothes, let out a shout, and collapsed onto the bed.
Heavens! Holy Mary! Couldn’t I have some dignity in front of the Chief? What just happened?! How could this happen?!
Why didn’t I notice Xi Zi was asleep? Or why didn’t the Chief pull a little harder? Why, son, did you fall asleep still nursing?!
Though Su Ruo and Xi Yuechen had shared intimate moments before, this scene was too much—so erotic and decadent. The pop sound was unbearable!
Su Ruo tugged at the sheets randomly, face flushed, heart pounding. She wanted to erase the memory, but the image kept flashing, making her even more embarrassed.
It was all the Chief’s fault! Watching me feed, and you just had to interfere! Xi Zi still had something in his mouth, and you pulled so casually! And then you ran away after the “pop”!
Blaming Xi Yuechen made Su Ruo feel a bit better.
But… thinking about facing him later, she let out a long, low groan. Why do I always embarrass myself in front of such a serious man?
What should I do next? Pretend nothing happened? Or strike first?
Ah… this is ridiculous and mortifying!
