RMM -Chapter 132 The Best of All Worlds

Rebirth: A Military Marriage 8 min read 134 of 365 35

When Su Ruo and He Wen arrived at Old Qi’s place, everyone else had already gotten there.

Liang Bo’an was also sitting in the room, chatting with Feng Weijia. Laughter filled the room, lively and harmonious.

“We’re here! Come on, come on—hurry up and welcome us!” He Wen laughed loudly as soon as she walked in.

“Oh my, who’s this? Isn’t this Mrs. Colonel Xi?” Wen Shaoning turned at the sound, saw Su Ruo standing at the doorway with a bright smile, and immediately joked loudly. “Ah, what an honor, what an honor!”

“Oh, stop it. Quit teasing me,” Su Ruo said as she walked in, smiling as she shot Wen Shaoning a glare.

“Isn’t Shaoning telling the truth?” Ye Huaiming chimed in. “Miss Su here is now a colonel’s wife—and in the future, she’ll be a general’s wife.”

Su Ruo ignored their teasing and glanced around. There weren’t many people in the room—just a few close friends who usually hung out together. She quietly let out a sigh of relief. If the room had been full of random, rowdy people, it would’ve been utterly annoying.

“Ruoruo, your belly’s already this big?”

Feeling a bit warm, Su Ruo took off her coat. With that, her prominently rounded belly was fully revealed, and Ye Huaiming couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise.

They had only seen Su Ruo once two months ago. Naturally, her belly had grown quite a bit since then, and seeing it so suddenly was indeed startling.

These big men usually never paid attention to such things. None of them were married yet. Su Ruo was the earliest among them to get married—and the earliest to have a child—so everyone was extremely curious about her belly.

“It’s already six months,” Su Ruo said as she slowly sat down on the sofa, one hand resting protectively on her belly. “Only three months left until I give birth. Do you think it could still be small?”

“Not bad—really starting to look like a mom now.”

Just as she sat down, a voice sounded beside her. She looked up and saw Feng Weijia.

“Of course,” Su Ruo replied without modesty, going right along with it. “Whatever I do, I do it properly.”

Nearby, Liang Bo’an quietly watched Su Ruo’s lively interaction with the others. A smile flickered through his eyes as he remained seated, watching without interrupting.

She’s become even more beautiful. Her whole body radiates warmth and happiness. Though it stings his eyes a little, he still feels glad.

Smiling so happily, with a family and a child—Ruoruo must be living a very happy life now. That’s good. That way, he can finally leave without regrets.

“Hey, Bo’an?”

While Liang Bo’an was lost in thought, Su Ruo suddenly called out to him. His heart jumped. He quickly came back to himself, lifted his head, and smiled as he nodded at her.

Looking at that gentle smile, Su Ruo couldn’t help sighing inwardly. Tsk, such favoritism from the Creator—how could a man smile so beautifully?

“It’s been half a year since we last met, right? What have you been busy with? You’re always so elusive.”

Hearing her question, Liang Bo’an shrugged helplessly. “What else? Just the usual mess at the company.”

“Boss Liang, you call that ‘a mess’?” He Wen teased as she walked over. “You’ve left us all in the dust and you’re still pretending to be modest.”

“Yeah,” Su Ruo nodded in agreement. “God of Wealth Liang, money can never be fully earned. You should take better care of your health.”

Su Ruo’s simple concern made Liang Bo’an’s heart tremble. He felt both satisfied and bitter at the same time, his eyes aching as he suppressed the emotions surging within. He nodded and murmured in response.

Feng Weijia watched this from the side and quietly sighed. It really tugged at the heart.

“He Wen, come on—walk with me over there. I have something I want to ask you.”

Feng Weijia went over, grabbed He Wen by the arm, and practically dragged her away. These two rarely got to meet—better leave some space for Bo’an. Who knew when they’d meet again after today?

Seeing He Wen dragged off, Su Ruo understood Feng Weijia’s feelings for her and assumed he just wanted some alone time. She smiled secretly and didn’t think much of it.

“What are you doing?!” He Wen snapped as she was dragged into a corner, shaking off his hand with a frown.

“Put away that look like you’re about to eat someone,” Feng Weijia said, pretending to brush off goosebumps and shivering in exaggerated disgust. “It’s terrifying.”

He Wen narrowed her eyes and viciously pinched the flesh at Feng Weijia’s waist. After hearing his suppressed cry of pain, she finally let go, raised an eyebrow, curled her lips into a cold smile, and said, “If I’m terrifying, then stay far away. What business is it of yours?”

“I—I was just trying to maintain your beautiful image,” Feng Weijia said, rubbing his waist and laughing awkwardly.

You’re my woman—if I don’t manage you, who will?
Such words could only be screamed in Feng Weijia’s heart, just to satisfy himself.

“Who asked you to maintain anything?” He Wen scoffed. “This is just how I am. If you can’t take it, get lost. Why’d you drag me over here anyway? Huh? What were you trying to do, leaving Ruoruo alone over there?”

Feng Weijia quickly soothed his wounded heart, then leaned closer and said softly, “Didn’t you see how down Bo’an looked? Let him talk with Ruoruo for a bit—what harm could that do? What could possibly happen? Why are you so on guard? Just pity Bo’an a little, okay? It’s not like you don’t know he’s based in the south now.”

Hearing this, He Wen’s expression softened. She turned back to look at Liang Bo’an, who was talking with Su Ruo, and sighed inwardly.

Only in front of Ruoruo did Liang Bo’an show warmth—his gaze focused, his expression unusually vivid.

Sigh… Chief Xi spends all 365 days a year in the army. Ruoruo barely gets to see him. Now she’s heavily pregnant and still can’t see him. Liang Bo’an, on the other hand, could stay by her side anytime—but unfortunately, Ruoruo only loves Chief Xi.

Thinking of this, He Wen suddenly felt that Liang Bo’an was truly pitiful. Fine then—just chatting. Let them talk. She wouldn’t interfere.

Seeing the change in her expression, Feng Weijia knew he’d succeeded. He silently cheered: See? As expected of my woman—so understanding.

“So… has Liang Bo’an really given up on Ruoruo?” He Wen asked curiously as she sat down.

“What else could he do?” Feng Weijia replied, sitting down too. “She’s already a mother now. Look at how happy she is—what can Bo’an possibly do? Force her?”

“Watch your mouth!” He Wen glared at him. “What force? Of course he should sincerely bless her!”

“Oh please,” Feng Weijia clicked his tongue. “Sincerely bless her? Why don’t you sprinkle some salt on Bo’an’s heart while you’re at it? You think it’s made of stone? Doesn’t it hurt?”

“I know Liang Bo’an is human—alive and breathing—but Ruoruo just doesn’t like him. What can be done?” He Wen shot back sharply. “She’s wholeheartedly devoted to Colonel Xi. If you’ve got the ability, go feed her a bowl of forget-love potion!”

“Well, if there really were such a thing,” Feng Weijia retorted, “Bo’an wouldn’t need you to remind him—he’d be the first to try it.”

“Go to hell,” He Wen snapped. “Forget-love potion? How immoral! Don’t you even think about things like that.”

She huffed and stopped arguing.

“Liang Bo’an… really planning to leave B City?” After a while, He Wen asked again.

“Yeah. What did you expect?” Feng Weijia sighed. “It’s been so many years. Watching Ruoruo love another man and have his child—how could he face that calmly? Smiling and offering blessings? Quietly leaving is already his greatest act of magnanimity.”

His words were filled with emotion, his tone low, making He Wen uncomfortable to hear.

“Sigh… I hope he finds the one who truly belongs to him someday,” He Wen murmured, almost to herself. “Leaving is probably for the best—less pain.”

“Exactly,” Feng Weijia nodded seriously. “See? Men are actually very easy to get hurt. So in the future, you should treat me better, okay?”

He Wen resisted the urge to punch him, snorted, and turned away. What nonsense—what did that have to do with her?

Su Ruo had always felt comfortable around Liang Bo’an. She thought he was handsome, outstanding, gentle, considerate, with excellent temperament and refinement. Sitting and chatting with him felt easy—he always brought up topics at just the right time, so there was never any awkward silence.

Probably only Su Ruo in this world would describe Liang Bo’an as polite and understanding. In everyone else’s eyes, he could be many things—but certainly not such fairy-tale qualities.

Nearby, Wen Shaoning and the others noticed the two pairs in the corners but didn’t interfere, continuing their own fun.

One pair—one deeply in love, the other completely unaware. They were just chatting; why interfere?

The other pair—Feng Third was enthusiastically pursuing He Wen, and they were mutually bickering and flirting. Even less reason to interfere.

So fine. They’d enjoy themselves.
The best of all worlds.

After chatting for a while, He Wen called for the food to be served. Ruoruo couldn’t miss a single meal now—Aunt Zhang had reminded her repeatedly before they came out, so of course she had to take it seriously.

The meal passed quickly. Afterward, they chatted a bit more before dispersing.

Seeing Su Ruo’s huge belly was nerve-wracking enough—they didn’t want her getting tired. Besides, in the dead of winter, there wasn’t really anywhere suitable for her to go have fun.

Feelings could be nurtured anytime. (。。
