QTIMP -Chapter 286 Character Persona – Violent (Part 14)

Quick Transmigration: I Must Maintain My Persona7 min read286 of 320

It was hard to tell what kind of emotion Si Qiu was feeling, so the person eventually gave up trying to read her.

“Miss Si, I’ll be waiting outside the door. I’ll take you there in a bit.”

“Alright, thank you!”

Si Qiu closed the door and went back inside to change clothes.

She put on a pair of work pants, a white shirt, and a jacket. Her hair was braided all the way from the top of her head down to the ends, and the whip was still wrapped around her waist.

The whip’s tail hung on her right side, its leather tassels resting along her right leg. This outfit softened some of the vulnerability she usually carried.

When she opened the door again, the man took her two suitcases. After leaving the hotel, he drove her to the market.

There, they completed the handover with the logistics personnel. The luggage was loaded onto another vehicle, and Si Qiu sat in the front passenger seat.

As soon as the driver got in and saw her, he said in a rough but friendly voice, “Comrade Si, if you feel unwell or need anything, just tell me. Don’t be polite with me.”

Si Qiu pretended to pull a handful of candy from her pocket and smiled as she handed it over. “Thanks for waiting for me. I’ve delayed your work, haven’t I? I don’t have any special requests—I’m ready to hit the road.”

The driver quickly waved his hands. “What are you doing? Transporting you is already arranged by the higher-ups. It’s no trouble at all. How could I take so much candy from you?”

Si Qiu still insisted with a smile. “My hand is small—how many pieces can I even hold? Take it back. When you’re tired or hungry, it’ll help replenish your energy.”

The driver was straightforward and open-minded. Hearing that, he stuffed the candy into his pocket. “I’ll take it back for my daughter.”

“You’re married?”

“Yeah, my kid’s already seven years old. I didn’t marry back then—my mother wouldn’t let me leave. Who would’ve thought that just that one night, my wife gave me a daughter.”

“Once things settled down, I quickly brought them here. For all these years, they’ve been living with my elders, always anxious and uneasy. As a husband, I really haven’t done my part.”

The two chatted casually all the way, and even though the road was bumpy, it felt like the journey passed quickly.

When they reached the entrance of the military camp, Si Qiu got out and underwent registration and inspection.

“I’m here to see your battalion commander, Chen Changsheng. My name is Si Qiu. Tell him that, and he’ll know who I am.”

The letter she had sent to Chen Family Village was signed with the name Chen Changsheng, so it seemed that after going to war, he had changed his name.

The soldier nodded. “Please wait a moment. I’ll go notify him right away.”

Si Qiu sat on a small wooden stool brought over by the guard post soldier. After a short while, another vehicle came down the dusty road she had arrived on.

The car was old and battered, bouncing heavily as it moved along the uneven dirt road. When it reached the gate, four men got out—two in military uniforms, one in a police uniform, and one wearing a plain gray jacket.

However, his hands were cuffed, and he was being escorted off the vehicle by the uniformed men. They also needed to explain the situation to the guards at the gate.

“Brigade Commander Jiang.”

“Register us.”

The man’s voice was low, hoarse, and carrying an oppressive weight.

From what Si Qiu could gather, the man in the gray jacket was likely a spy. Because it was an important case, he had been brought directly to the military unit.

The Brigade Commander Jiang, who was holding the spy, was over 1.85 meters tall. Carrying a 1.7-meter man looked as effortless as lifting a chick.

His facial features were sharp and deep-set, and his cold, dark eyes slightly downturned. Whenever he looked at someone, it carried a faint sense of superiority.

Yet his sun-tanned, masculine complexion softened that impression slightly.

The man beside him had the surname Lin, while the slightly older man in uniform was surnamed Shen. He was the head of the Investigation Division of the city Public Security Bureau.

When the car arrived, they immediately noticed Si Qiu sitting there. A young girl sitting against the guard post was simply too conspicuous.

Especially since Si Qiu had a somewhat delicate and soft appearance, which sharply contrasted with the cold, rigid military guard post at the entrance.

Director Shen was curious and was just about to ask what was going on with the guard soldier.

From a distance, a loud voice suddenly rang out.

“Si Qiu! Si Qiu!”

A man in military uniform ran out from inside, waving as he ran, shouting her name. Si Qiu snapped back to her senses and shot to her feet.

The people who were registering documents all looked over as well.

Chen Changsheng ran over from afar. He had already received a letter from home two days ago, learning that his parents had passed away—and that Si Qiu had come looking for him.

So when he heard the soldier’s report today, he immediately ran over. To be honest, he felt somewhat nervous. He had been afraid of this sister who had raised him since childhood.

As a child, he would be beaten for not studying, beaten for not working, beaten for not keeping clean. He was an only child, and his parents couldn’t bear to discipline him—so all his punishment came from this “child bride” sister.

Si Qiu didn’t know what he was thinking. And even if she did, it wouldn’t matter—that was the original owner’s business; she wasn’t taking responsibility for it. Though if it were her, she wouldn’t go easy either.

A sharp sound of something cutting through the air rang out. His body reacted before his thoughts did—he instinctively dodged sideways and bent back, narrowly avoiding the whip.

But Si Qiu didn’t give him a second chance. The whip curved through the air and struck again. His next dodge was a bit slower, and the sleeve of his arm was torn open.

The force was perfectly controlled—only a blue-red welt appeared on his arm.

“Ah! Sis, sis, I was wrong, I was wrong! Stop hitting me!”

He jumped around trying to avoid the whip. The soldiers on guard were about to step in and stop it, but upon hearing him repeatedly shouting “sis,” Battalion Commander Jiang raised his hand to stop them.

“Didn’t you hear him calling her sister? It’s family business—what are you interfering for?”

He stepped on the captured spy and kicked him slightly. “Lin, take him away and lock him up.”

After giving the order, he folded his arms and watched the show. This woman was interesting—she looked gentle and soft, yet her whip skills were fierce, sending the men from the Third Battalion into chaos.

Chen Changsheng had been under his command for six years. He had killed people and fought in close combat; he was skilled enough that even Jiang himself would need effort to subdue him.

Yet he was being completely overwhelmed by such a seemingly delicate woman.

In the end, Chen Changsheng took a hit on purpose, grabbed the whip tightly, quickly wrapped it around his hand, and knelt down smoothly.

“Sis, I was wrong.”

A man who had run up behind them quickly stepped between the two.

“Comrade Si Qiu, please calm down. Battalion Commander Chen was injured some time ago and only discharged two days ago. He was deeply saddened upon learning that your father and mother had passed away.”

“He understands the pain of not being able to fulfill filial duties before it’s too late. If the hometown letter hadn’t said you were coming, he would have already requested leave and returned despite his injuries.”

Si Qiu lightly flicked the whip, and Chen Changsheng immediately let go.

With a flick of her wrist, she coiled the whip back around her waist.

Her series of movements made Director Song’s eyes light up. He thought to himself that girls should be like this—if there was a chance, he should let his own daughter learn from her.
