Si Qiu tilted her head curiously, trying to look past them, but Michel shifted his steps and blocked her view.
She pouted unhappily and fanned herself with a small handheld fan. “Michel, what is it? Am I not allowed to come over here?”
Michel quickly shook his head hard. “Miss, how could you say that? There’s nowhere on this island you can’t go. It’s just that there are ferocious beasts inside here—we were worried it might scare you, so I asked.”
While speaking, he also made a few hand signals behind his back. The two people carrying someone quietly detoured and entered the pet park through the back entrance.
“So you came here to feed the beasts?”
Michel was about to nod in agreement, then seemed to remember something and quickly closed his mouth.
Freya stepped forward. “We’re just here to take a look. If you want to go in, you should call Sir first. If you really get frightened, even 100 lives wouldn’t be enough for me to make up for it.”
She might joke around with the boss normally, but at critical moments she clearly knew what mattered. At the very least, her importance couldn’t compare to Miss Si Qiu.
Si Qiu didn’t want to make things difficult for them either, so she simply picked up her phone and called Elias.
Elias was currently exchanging pleasantries with Fang Yiming. Fang Yiming still hadn’t managed to figure out the other party’s purpose. This kind of unequal cooperation always made people uneasy.
The phone vibrated. Elias glanced sideways at it and quickly answered.
His language automatically switched. “Qiuqiu, why are you calling me?”
Hearing his Chinese, Fang Yiming raised a slight eyebrow.
The girl’s clear voice, with a hint of sweetness, came through. “Elias, when will you be done?”
“Soon, I’ll be done right away. Where is Qiuqiu now? Do you miss me?” His expression relaxed, a clear smile appearing on his face.
Not a cold smile or a mocking one—but a genuinely warm, sincere smile. Fang Yiming immediately sensed something unusual.
“I’m at the entrance of the pet park with Freya.” Si Qiu leaned lazily against the steering wheel of the sightseeing cart. Her posture accidentally outlined a graceful curve, making everyone around her stare blankly.
The butler and Freya immediately stood up and blocked her from one side, while Michel snapped out of it and turned back with a cold glare.
Of the four people who followed him, two had already discreetly taken the woman away during his earlier signal.
The remaining two, feeling his gaze, quickly lowered their heads in fear.
From Si Qiu’s brief sentence, Elias immediately understood. Michel was probably handling that woman, and they happened to meet Si Qiu, so they didn’t dare let her inside for fear of scaring her.
Elias stood up and nodded slightly to Fang Yiming, intending to leave.
Unexpectedly, Fang Yiming did not remain behind out of courtesy and instead smiled. “May I have the honor of visiting your pet park?”
He was simply too curious—and his intuition told him this was a breakthrough point.
Elias didn’t hang up the phone. He looked Fang Yiming up and down. Fang Yiming met his scrutiny very calmly.
Finally, Elias showed a meaningful smile and nodded slightly.
Then he turned and left. Fang Yiming quickly followed.
Ahead, the tall man spoke softly into the phone:
“Is it hot at the pet park entrance?”
“Not hot. I’m sitting in the sightseeing cart and even have a small fan. But you should still hurry up—I’m bored waiting here alone.”
“Alright. Five minutes.”
After hanging up the phone, Elias looked at Fang Yiming, who was sitting with him on the sightseeing cart.
Fang Yiming smiled politely, but did not get off.
Instead, he asked, “Sir, were you talking to your girlfriend?” He also spoke in Chinese.
Elias slightly raised his tone and replied in the same language. “Yes. She’s young, and her mother spoiled her, so her temper is a bit impatient. Naturally, I have to coax her.”
Fang Yiming didn’t seem bothered by his show of affection and nodded in agreement. “That’s how it should be. Girls are sensitive and need more care. It’s obvious you two have a deep relationship.”
As he spoke, his gaze subtly swept over Elias’s face and the faint marks visible at his neck.
Elias naturally noticed it, but he didn’t mind. Instead, he slightly turned his face, allowing the other man to see more clearly.
“That’s right, our relationship is very good. She’s like a little cat—always showing her claws at me. But she doesn’t have much strength; even when she hits me it doesn’t hurt. It’s more like acting spoiled. Isn’t that what your people say—‘a beating is affection, scolding is love’?”
“Oh, right. Mr. Fang, do you have a girlfriend?”
“If not, then it must be hard for you to understand how I feel, right?”
Fang Yiming had originally been smiling while listening to the other man show off, but gradually, he could no longer keep the smile on his face.
With a stiff expression, he replied, “On that matter, I can’t compare to you. I haven’t been blessed with that kind of fortune yet.”
Elias raised an eyebrow when he heard that, his expression becoming even more smug.
“Mr. Fang, you don’t need to rush. Although you’re not as good-looking as me, and your physique is slightly worse… and you’re probably not as rich as me either, you’re still passable.”
“Someone will like you eventually. Don’t be discouraged.”
Fang Yiming was almost laughing in anger. He really wanted to kill him—but unfortunately, strength didn’t allow it. In his heart, calling him a “damn bastard” was all he could manage.
At this moment, the sightseeing cart had already reached the entrance of the pet park.
As soon as it stopped, Elias had already jumped down and walked quickly toward another sightseeing cart.
When he arrived, he saw Freya fanning Si Qiu with a hand fan.
Si Qiu was leaning on the steering wheel, tilting her head as she spoke to Freya. The atmosphere between them was relaxed and pleasant.
He strode over in a few steps, directly took the fan from Freya’s hand, then reached out and lifted Si Qiu out of the cart.
Fang Yiming wasn’t as fast. By the time he got off the cart, he just happened to see Elias carrying a girl down.
He hadn’t seen her face clearly, but the long black hair falling over her shoulders already confirmed his guess.
However, when he walked closer and saw Elias holding the girl’s hand, he was about to step forward to introduce himself when the two suddenly turned around.
A face of breathtaking beauty came into view, stopping him in his tracks and making him hold his breath. His heart began to race uncontrollably.
Then their eyes met—clear, bright eyes that made him feel as if, under the blazing sun, he had just drunk a full glass of ice water.
“Who is this?” a voice full of curiosity and surprise rang out.
Elias frowned slightly, pulled her into his arms, and lazily introduced him.
“This gentleman is from China. His name is Fang Yiming.”
“Hello, Mr. Fang. My name is Si Qiu.” Si Qiu had finally met someone who seemed relatively friendly and also from her country.
She reached out her hand, intending to shake his.
Fang Yiming rubbed his palm, realizing it wasn’t sweaty, and was just about to shake the “fairy’s” hand—when suddenly, a large hand with prominent veins firmly grasped his.
