When Song Xiaxia was dragged in, her clothes were barely intact, her hair was a tangled mess, and her face—soaked by cosmetics—was smeared into chaos.
She slowly lifted her head along the smooth floor and saw Elias’s exquisitely sculpted face, like a work of art.
She immediately put on a pitiful expression. She remembered that in her previous life, she had won his attention by silently crying like this.
But she didn’t stop to think—back then, she had been dressed up like a porcelain doll, presented to an audience.
Now she looked like something dragged out of a trash heap. The makeup that had already been smeared across her face only made the streaks from her tears even uglier.
Elias quickly covered Si Qiu’s eyes. He didn’t want her to see such an unpleasant sight and get affected by it.
Only then did Song Xiaxia notice Si Qiu standing nearby.
Even though Elias was covering her face, that graceful figure, porcelain-white skin, and jet-black hair at the crown of her head were enough for Song Xiaxia to recognize her instantly.
“S… Si Qiu? You’re Si Qiu? How are you here? Didn’t you already drown at sea?”
She lunged forward as she spoke.
Seeing her almost mad state, Elias kicked her away without hesitation.
Song Xiaxia was sent flying back, clutching her chest and coughing for a long time before she could breathe again.
Then came shock—and deep, poisonous jealousy.
Elias didn’t even bother glancing at her again. He frowned slightly and looked down at Si Qiu.
“Did that scare you just now?”
Si Qiu blinked her grape-like eyes, then shook her head.
Elias rested one hand on her back and brought a glass of watermelon juice to her lips with the other, trying to calm her down.
“Do you know that woman?”
Si Qiu took a breath. She had indeed been startled by Song Xiaxia’s frantic behavior earlier, but not seriously.
She nodded. “She was probably kidnapped with me. We stayed in the cargo hold for four or five days.”
“Or maybe five or six. We were always inside, so I lost track of time.”
Elias gently rubbed the top of her head. He had meant only to comfort her, but the silky feel of her hair made him unconsciously rub it a few more times.
“It’s fine. It’s all over now. You’ve got me from now on.”
While saying this, he gave Karl a glance.
Karl walked over and grabbed Song Xiaxia, preparing to drag her out.
In an instant, her fear was swallowed by rage.
“No! Let go of me! Si Qiu, I saved your life! And you’re just going to let them treat me like this? Ungrateful!”
Karl paused and looked toward Elias. Elias, in turn, was watching Si Qiu’s expression.
Si Qiu turned to look at Song Xiaxia.
Then she slowly stood up from the sofa—graceful figure, fair skin, calm composure—making the filthy Song Xiaxia feel instantly inferior. But that only turned into deeper hatred.
Si Qiu had taken her place. She was a thief. A robber.
And she was never good at hiding anything—everything she felt was written clearly in her eyes.
Si Qiu couldn’t make out what she was implying, but she disliked that look on her face and walked over to shove her.
“I’ll say this one more time—you didn’t save me. You even stole my steamed bun and knocked me into the sea. Stop going around claiming you’re my savior. Acting like that will bring you karma.”
It was the first time Elias had seen Si Qiu this angry. He immediately stepped between the two of them. When Song Xiaxia saw this, she looked as if she had suffered a huge blow.
She kept muttering, “How can this be? How can this be?”
After all, when she had followed Elias in the past, he hadn’t even protected her at all. To him, she had seemed no different from a decorative plant he kept around.
Not even a pet—just something placed there for show. Even her later attempts at scheming and causing trouble, looking back now, she felt he had simply been watching the show the whole time.
But now, he was so clearly protecting Si Qiu—and even went so far as to physically stand up for her. So what was all those days by his side worth, when he treated her like something to be kept away like bacteria?
If he had treated her like this back then, she wouldn’t have betrayed him, only to be used and end up dead without a complete body.
Elias gestured slightly at Karl. Karl immediately covered Song Xiaxia’s mouth and took her away.
Her future outcome was easy to imagine. Struggling in unwillingness, she managed to shout through the muffling:
“Si Qiu! You think you’ve gotten yourself a big shot? He’s actually a pervert! He’ll lock you up, isolate you from the world, and keep you like a pet. You won’t have even the slightest autonomy as a human being—you’ll go insane, you will definitely go insane! In the future, you’ll end up just like me!”
As she was dragged away with her mouth covered, that expression on Song Xiaxia’s face was enough to haunt someone’s nightmares.
Si Qiu turned back to look at Elias. He raised a brow slightly.
“What? Afraid after hearing what she said?”
Si Qiu slapped him directly.
“You creepy, damp, gloomy ghost—where did you learn to act like that?”
The sound of the slap wasn’t particularly loud, but in the room it rang out very clearly.
Elias tilted his head slightly. Then, lifting his gaze slowly, he studied Si Qiu as if carefully examining her. Finally, he took her hand—the one that had just hit him.
His subordinates all thought he was about to snap her wrist on the spot. They felt a pity for such a beautiful woman.
But instead, Elias lowered his head and kissed the palm of her hand.
“You really aren’t afraid of me, huh?” he asked again.
Everyone in the room froze. Their boss… had he been drugged? But then their eyes shifted to Si Qiu.
Fair skin like jade, naturally charming—indeed, she was worth forgiving.
Si Qiu, meanwhile, wiped her hand against his clothes hard, scrubbing off the place he had kissed.
Elias’ expression gradually turned cold at her obvious disgust.
Then Si Qiu said, “Go rinse your mouth. My hand just pushed that filthy woman.”
“As for being afraid of you—if you can kill me, that would actually be better. Then I could go find my mom.”
Her voice softened at the end, and she sniffled. She had been trying to follow what her mother taught her—trying hard to forget her—but every time she thought about her, she still felt very sad. What should she do?
Her eyes were already red, clearly on the verge of tears.
Theodore quickly stepped forward.
“Sir, should we ask how that woman knew about you?”
“She was probably told by the people trying to sell her. But it doesn’t really matter how she found out.”
With that, he was already pulling Si Qiu away.
“Alright, alright, don’t cry. By the way—did you post that video yet?”
Si Qiu’s sadness was abruptly interrupted, her attention shifting. She quickly picked up her phone to check.
