“Don’t talk nonsense. Mommy said Tang Che is the best! Right now, it’s only because of your father’s irresponsibility and your grandmother’s controlling personality that you’ve developed a minor stress reaction. As long as you actively cooperate with the psychologist’s treatment and have both mom and dad by your side, your condition will get better quickly—just like catching a cold. By the way, do you want to go take a look at Mommy’s new workplace?”
Tang Che suddenly lifted his head again. “Then Dad, let’s bring milk tea and pastries for her! Let’s bring a lot. The sisters at Mommy’s company gave me lots of tasty snacks last time.”
“No problem. Dad will have Assistant Li prepare them right away.”
Su Qiu’s office had just been moved to the new company, but the overall relocation was still ongoing. Plus, business had been growing rapidly, along with what happened yesterday.
So even on Sunday, the company still looked somewhat busy and chaotic.
Because of that morning’s interview, the newly hired front desk staff were already familiar with the father and son.
They greeted them politely and notified upstairs. At the top floor, Xiao Yuan was waiting by the elevator and directly led them to Su Qiu’s office.
Su Qiu was in the middle of assigning upcoming work tasks to Xu Tingting. She nodded at the two of them and continued working, only finishing after she had given all instructions.
Then Su Qiu looked at Tang Che. “Baby, Mommy set up a children’s playground in the company’s dining floor. Today is Sunday, and many uncles and aunts working overtime have brought their kids too. Do you want to go take a look? Aunt Xu can take you.”
Xu Tingting quickly added, “Yes, there’s not only play equipment there, but also dedicated staff looking after the kids. Your little sister is also there. Want to go have a look?”
Tang Che turned back to look at Tang Chaoyun. Seeing him nod, he reached out his hand and let Xu Tingting take him away.
After the office door closed, Su Qiu took a sip of water and hurriedly asked, “How was it?”
Tang Chaoyun pushed the examination report toward her. “The doctor said it’s not very severe, but it’s not light either. Fortunately, we intervened early—his personality and worldview aren’t fully formed yet. There’s still a good chance of recovery.”
Su Qiu carefully read the report, and anger began to surge inside her.
Seeing her knuckles turning white as she gripped the paper, Tang Chaoyun couldn’t help rubbing his nose and leaning back slightly on the sofa.
Then suddenly—smack—the report was slapped onto the coffee table.
“Your Tang family doesn’t have a single decent person in it! You turned a perfectly good child into someone with depression!”
“Mmph—”
Su Qiu’s mouth was covered by Tang Chaoyun.
“Lower your voice, lower your voice. What if someone outside hears you?”
“I know my mother was wrong. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she absolutely won’t be allowed near the child again.”
His hand loosened slightly, and Su Qiu immediately bit him. He frowned in pain but didn’t make a sound, instead releasing his grip on her completely.
“Not allowed near him? And that’s supposed to reassure me? If I could be reassured, would the child have ended up like this? This is a lifelong psychological scar. You think just ‘not letting her come near’ solves everything?”
Tang Chaoyun also knew she was right, but he truly had no way to deal with his mother.
“…Then what do you want me to do?”
“Have your mother transfer shares to Tang Che as emotional compensation. Otherwise, I’ll take this medical report and fight you for custody in court.”
When Tang Zhaoyun heard she wanted to fight for custody, he panicked and was about to say something to calm Si Qiu down, but then seemed to think of something and nodded.
“I’ll call her right now. Don’t worry, I’m definitely on your and the child’s side. And calm down—anger is bad for your health, it’s not worth it.”
Si Qiu shot him a glare and turned to sit down in her office chair behind the desk.
Tang Zhaoyun didn’t avoid her either and directly called his mother. On the other end, his mother clearly held resentment toward her son.
As soon as she picked up, she said sarcastically, “Well? Only now you remember me after comforting your wife and child?”
“If you really care that much, just send Che’er to me.”
A man’s voice could be heard in the background trying to mediate. “Old Madam, President Tang is filial. Please don’t say that—it will hurt your relationship.”
Tang Zhaoyun didn’t want to listen to his mother’s sarcasm and got straight to the point.
“I took Che’er to see a psychologist today. He’s already developed serious psychological issues because of you.”
“You still want him by your side? Now Qiuqiu is saying she’ll file for divorce, and with this medical report, guess who the child will be awarded to?”
“What? What right does she have to talk about divorce with you? And what right does she have to raise a child of the Tang family?”
Before she could finish, Si Qiu rushed over and pressed down on Tang Zhaoyun’s hand.
“No right? He’s my child—I have no right? Meanwhile you’re abusing your seniority and harming my son.”
“I’m telling you, I’m definitely taking this case. I’ll divorce your son immediately, and if I win custody, I’ll change his surname.”
Tang Zhaoyun had no choice. He reached from behind, wrapped one arm around Si Qiu’s waist, lifted her onto the sofa to sit, then turned and took the phone, walking out of the office with it pressed to his ear.
As he left, he even twisted the door handle a few times, probably trying to lock it to prevent Si Qiu from rushing out again.
He couldn’t actually lock it from outside, and Si Qiu didn’t really chase after him.
Instead, she leisurely returned to her desk and continued working.
No one knew exactly what Tang Zhaoyun said to his difficult mother, but in the end the old lady agreed to transfer 5% of shares to Tang Che, along with two commercial shop units of over a hundred square meters each in the city center for Si Qiu.
However, there was a condition: if the marriage broke down, Si Qiu had to voluntarily give up custody.
Si Qiu didn’t object. The old lady tightly controlled her shares—over the years, even her own son Tang Zhaoyun hadn’t been able to extract a single percent.
Now getting 5% for Tang Che was already considered some security for the child. Besides, after the divorce the child would already be older and unlikely to be manipulated by the old lady anymore.
So Si Qiu added more conditions herself, such as detailed records of her contact with the child, the Tang family’s independent custody arrangements, care for the child’s psychological condition, and so on. After that, all three parties signed the agreement.
Tang Zhaoyun showed no dissatisfaction with her “profiteering” behavior. In fact, he even watched with interest as Si Qiu verbally cornered his mother step by step, making her clutch her chest before hurriedly signing and leaving.
Only when Si Qiu’s sharp gaze turned to him did he straighten his posture and adjust his tie, thinking, You’ve already gone after my mother—could you at least stop firing at me too?
Si Qiu glared at him, then said to the lawyer she had brought: “Add these two shops under Tang Che’s name as well. In the end, it’s still my fault as a mother for not being capable enough to prevent him from suffering all this harm.”
When Tang Zhaoyun heard that, he felt a bit uncomfortable.
“Uh… I need control of the group shares, I can’t move those. I still have a villa in the western suburbs—let’s give that to Che’er.”
