Nian Suisui hurried over with a medical kit in hand and quickly explained, “You misunderstood. I’m just taking a few drops of fingertip blood to do a simple test with a test strip.”
Tang Chaoyun looked at Si Qiu with an unreadable expression, but in the end, he still extended his hand. Nian Suisui pricked his fingertip, took a few drops of blood, and placed them onto the test strip.
The result came out quickly.
“The test strip results look good. You can go ahead and sign the contract.”
The pen in Tang Chaoyun’s hand came down heavily as he signed, his gaze never once leaving Si Qiu’s face.
As soon as the contract was signed, she stood up and led her people out. “I hope you can move into the agreed residence within three days.”
Si Qiu didn’t mind his attitude at all and nodded cheerfully. “Of course. I take contracts very seriously.”
Following a step behind him, Si Qiu left the Tang Corporation with her team.
Once they got into the car, Nian Suisui couldn’t hold back her laughter. “Did you see his face just now? He looked like he’d swallowed a dead rat.”
“Qiuqiu, that move of yours was ruthless—an insult without using a single curse word.”
Si Qiu leaned lazily against the seat. “I wasn’t trying to insult him. I genuinely wanted you to run a proper test.”
“But the Tang family wouldn’t be that careless, right? They definitely wouldn’t skip annual health checkups!”
Nian Suisui leaned forward, clearly shocked.
Resting her head on one hand, Si Qiu glanced at her. “What’s the use of checkups? If someone leads a messy lifestyle and ends up catching something, do you think he’d tell me?”
Thinking it over, Nian Suisui nodded. She held her medical kit more carefully now. “You’re right, Qiuqiu. It’s better to be cautious about these things. These test strips are from the latest research—I’ll leave some for all of you later.”
“They’re easy to use and can detect quite a few infectious diseases.”
Si Qiu gave her a reassuring look, as if to say I trust you to handle this.
After dropping Nian Suisui off at her senior’s research lab, Si Qiu returned to the company with Wu Ying. The next period was going to be very busy.
First, relocating the company and recruiting new staff. Then, fully launching all the projects they had prepared earlier.
Oh, right—she also needed to call Song Huaiyi and have him temporarily sort out some usable items and deliver them to the large flat they had agreed on with Tang Chaoyun.
The reason for choosing that place was simple: it was conveniently located between Si Qiu’s soon-to-be relocated company, the Tang Corporation, and the child’s future school.
With 728 square meters of space, it was more than enough for a family of three along with a small number of household staff.
Meanwhile, Song Huaiyi’s phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, his hand trembled slightly as he quickly answered.
A bright smile instinctively appeared on his face, but as Si Qiu’s instructions continued, that expression gradually faded into loneliness.
After the call ended, he still headed upstairs and began packing the things she would need in the coming days—filling a total of nine suitcases.
He then had the driver take him, along with two maids, to the flat.
Si Qiu hadn’t given him a temporary password. Instead, she told him to get the access card from Assistant Li, which gave him a small sense of excitement.
After arriving at the residential complex, Assistant Li only showed up seven or eight minutes after receiving his call.
He hurriedly apologized to him. Song Huaiyi responded with polite small talk, neither arrogant nor overly humble.
Assistant Li handed him the access card, then instructed the security staff at the entrance to help move the luggage. By the time they reached downstairs, he began explaining things again.
“This building is one unit per elevator, so access requires a key card. The apartment has already been renovated, and the furnishings were all completed this morning. Coincidentally, the young master also moved in today. However, the old madam was worried, so she arranged a chef and servants for him.”
While Song Huaiyi evaluated this information internally, his expression remained unchanged. When the elevator doors opened on the floor, the entire hallway was already crowded.
Servants moved in and out, unpacking luggage. From the open door, voices could be heard inside.
“What kind of setup is this? Che’er’s room isn’t arranged properly! Even the wallpaper color is wrong…”
Song Huaiyi’s phone remained on an active call in his pocket. Si Qiu’s fingers were busy typing on her computer, yet through her earphones she could clearly hear the old madam’s complaints.
She didn’t say much—just picked up another phone and called Tang Chaoyun. Placing the two phones together, she let him handle the matter.
The call ended. Soon after, the old madam received a call of her own. Her face darkened as she cursed, “You ungrateful wretch.”
In the end, she turned and left with her people. As she reached the doorway, she happened to see Song Huaiyi. She gave him a disdainful once-over before stepping into the elevator.
Song Huaiyi gave a slight nod in polite acknowledgment, neither servile nor overbearing. Only after the elderly woman entered the elevator did he lead his people inside.
At that moment, a five-year-old boy stood in front of the sofa. He wore a shirt with suspenders, his left hand fidgeting with the smartwatch on his right wrist.
Clearly, his grandmother’s sudden outburst and departure had left him at a loss.
Song Huaiyi arranged for others to take over unpacking, then crouched in front of the boy.
“You must be Tang Che, right? Just like your mother said—you’re very handsome. Your mother entrusted me with arranging the house. Would you like to help me with it?”
Tang Che looked up at him briefly, then lowered his head and continued fiddling with his watch without answering. However, his eyes darted around the room.
Song Huaiyi continued gently guiding him. “Your mom prepared some toys for you. Where would you like to put them? Shall we go take a look at your room?”
After a long pause, a soft “Okay” finally came out.
Song Huaiyi smiled, taking his hand as they headed toward his room. Secretary Li observed their interaction without interfering, but followed them inside.
He looked around the room more carefully. It was over 50 square meters, well-lit, decorated in blue and white—clean and easy on the eyes.
None of the flaws the old madam had criticized actually existed.
Song Huaiyi then handed the boy a custom car model that Nian Suisui had brought back.
“Young Master Tang, I’m the housekeeper, Song Huaiyi. Do you have any requirements for your bedroom? For example, wall colors, bedding quality, furniture placement—if you do, you can tell me, and I’ll arrange changes. If not, you might consider where to place this model. Miss had it specially ordered from Germany through a classmate. I’m just not sure if you’ll like it.”
Tang Che carefully examined the model car, then glanced around the room again. His father had already asked for his opinions when the room was designed.
So he didn’t find anything wrong with it.
Hearing Song Huaiyi’s words, he first shook his head, then softly said, “Put this box by my bedside.”
His voice grew louder—still childish, yet firm.
