This time, Zhou Chengyu just straight-up brought them over, and Si Yanan couldn’t help but marvel at the depth behind it.
After all, the moment they entered, the owner personally came out to greet them. Zhou Chengyu was treated with remarkable warmth and respect.
The private dining room was simply decorated, but every item was exquisitely chosen. Even the tea set on the table immediately caught Si Qiu’s eye. She really liked it.
Si Anqi, sitting beside her, said, “You’re like one of those Western dragons—always drawn to shiny, delicate things. But with all the jewelry you have, you wear so little and just look at it. What’s the point?”
“I like it, that’s all. Looking at beautiful things makes me feel at ease.”
Without even lifting her head, Si Qiu began brewing tea for everyone. The tea set wasn’t just beautiful—it was genuinely high quality.
Zhou Chengyu was talking with Si Anqi and Si Yanan, but his peripheral vision never left her. Whether it was the way she marveled at the tea set or the serene calm with which she quietly brewed the tea, he found it utterly captivating.
It wasn’t about beauty—it was just… appealing. The sunlight streaming through the bright window cast a golden glow on her, making it impossible to look away.
The only thing disrupting the picture was that figure moving around Si Qiu, occasionally blocking his view.
After finishing the tea, Si Qiu poured a cup for Zhou Chengyu first. He accepted it with both hands, a faint smile lifting the corners of his mouth.
“Thank you, Younger Sister Si Qiu.”
Si Qiu’s hand paused slightly. When Lin Zixiang and the others called her “younger sister,” she didn’t think much of it—but hearing those two words from Zhou Chengyu made her feel oddly uneasy.
The five of them had eight dishes and two soups.
There weren’t any rare ingredients, but the flavors were truly delicious. The chef avoided heavy sauces and oils, letting the natural character of the ingredients shine.
Everything was fresh and fragrant—even the rice had a rich aroma, and the grains were pleasantly chewy. Clearly, the ingredients had been carefully selected by the restaurant.
Si Qiu ate with satisfaction. Si Yanan, seeing how attentively Zhou Chenyu looked after his daughter, couldn’t help but suspect that he was her new romantic interest.
But since their daughter didn’t confirm anything outright, they played along. Still, the Zhou family wasn’t like others—they would make sure to talk to their daughter properly later.
Si Yanan suddenly felt a sense of urgency. He began paying more attention to the family business, determined to expand its scale.
Or perhaps he should rethink his son’s education, steering him toward politics or the military?
That way, if his son had a successful future, their daughter would face fewer obstacles.
Meanwhile, Zhou Chenyu, taking care of Si Qiu as she ate, quietly discussed how they might make their relationship public.
Si Qiu hesitated. She wasn’t an ordinary girl. Despite the burdens of her persona, it no longer limited her intelligence.
After their recent online interactions, she had already noticed his occasional odd behavior.
In truth, Si Qiu understood that if Zhou Chenyu didn’t address the issues and adjust his mindset in time, their relationship could quickly face complications.
Yet her “love-brained” persona made her indulge in the sweetness of their time together, the surge of longing when apart, and even the bitterness when his attitude shifted.
Perhaps this was what some people called “a lucid descent into passion.”
“Qiu Qiu… I guess my second brother and uncle have already figured something out, right?”
“Since my second brother doesn’t object, the chances of our family opposing it are really small. There’s actually no need to keep it a secret anymore.”
Si Qiu prodded the last bit of rice with her chopsticks, her eyes lowered so no one could see her emotions.
Her voice remained quiet. “Then, since you said your second brother probably already guessed about the two of us, and he has influence at home, you should go back and ask him. He’s your real cousin; he’ll definitely analyze from the family’s perspective whether it’s appropriate for us to go public. Then you can come back and tell me about the decision.”
Zhou Chenyu felt a bit disappointed, but he still nodded in agreement. After all, Si Qiu was right, and her words made him feel that perhaps he hadn’t thought things through enough.
After finishing the meal, they went to buy some items that Si Qiu and Zhou Chenyu would need for living at school. With both families’ financial resources, transportation wasn’t an issue—they drove to a large shopping mall. The main effort was handled by Si Qiu and Si Anqi, while the other three men politely helped carry the items.
It was then that Si Anqi realized: if Zhou Chengyu wanted to pursue a relationship with someone, it seemed no one could refuse him. He really had personal charm.
Even when Si Anqi and Si Qiu were discussing the quality and color of daily necessities, he could give excellent suggestions. There was no careless or irrelevant response at all. His erudition, gentleness, and noble upbringing were fully displayed without reservation.
Compared to him, Zhou Chenyu was younger and less experienced and composed—not that he was lacking, but his second cousin was simply extraordinary. He completely overshadowed Zhou Chenyu, who was already among the top of his peers.
However, Zhou Chenyu had an advantage that the other didn’t: he was closer in age to Si Qiu and had experienced less darkness in life, giving him an aura of purity and sincerity.
All the Si family members were praising the Zhou family’s education. With such outstanding younger generations, if nothing unexpected happened, the Zhou family was bound to advance even further in the future.
Zhou Chenyu only realized while shopping that, for living at school, he still lacked quite a few things. Previously, he had refused the nanny’s help with packing at home and thought he had prepared everything himself. Looking at the suitcase in his hand, filled with his belongings, and then at his meticulous cousin choosing a hairdryer for Si Qiu while carefully comparing quality, he finally understood just how detail-oriented and considerate his second cousin was.
“The pink one looks really nice, but the blue one is also beautiful!” Si Qiu hesitated for a moment as she looked at the two hairdryers. She turned, intending to ask Zhou Chenyu to pick one for her. But Zhou Chengyu simply picked up both and set them aside.
Si Qiu thought for a moment and nodded. “It’s perfect to take both—we’ll each have one, Chenyu and I.”
Hearing this, Zhou Chengyu had originally prepared to explain if Si Qiu asked why he bought two. He had rehearsed, “Since you like them, just get both. Use whichever you want—it doesn’t cost much,” but the words got stuck in his throat.
Then he saw his younger cousin quickly walking over. “Okay, Qiu Qiu, you use the pink one, and I’ll use the blue one.”
“Why should I use pink and you blue?”
“You’re female, I’m male. Of course the colors should be distributed that way.”
“That won’t do—I’m liking the blue one more and more now.”
Hearing this, Zhou Chenyu hesitated for a moment. “Should we get another blue one then?”
