“What?” Liu Xiaopeng jumped up in shock, staring wide-eyed at Yu Qi in the distance.

I immediately signaled him to keep his voice down. After a long pause, Liu Xiaopeng finally sat back down and asked, “Why would you say that?”

“I suspect the appearance of this yin entity is closely tied to Yu Qi’s emotional fluctuations,” I said in a low voice.

“Last night, Yu Qi told us she had just discovered Daoist Yu cheating on her mother, and not long after that, Daoist Yu was killed—his throat was slit by that yin entity.”

“Think about it carefully. That guy Li Fei tried to harass Yu Qi in the wasteland. Is it possible she didn’t resist only on the surface, but deep down she was unwilling? And her roommate at the dorm—I’ve heard they also had some conflicts.”

Liu Xiaopeng shook his head after listening. “I still find it hard to believe a girl like her could control a yin entity to kill people—and all the victims are people close to her.”

I also shook my head. “I didn’t say she was intentionally killing anyone.”

“This yin entity… is very likely parasitic!”

“Parasitic?” Liu Xiaopeng frowned. “What does that mean?”

“It’s similar to how the Zhu family elder used soul-nurturing before… except soul-nurturing involves a person deliberately selecting a yin entity and feeding it their spiritual energy willingly. But a parasitic yin entity, as the name suggests, is like a parasite. It attaches itself to the host’s soul power, feeds on the host’s spirit and emotions, and is also influenced by the host’s mental state, while affecting the real world to a certain extent.”

“So based on what I’ve observed, that yin entity is very likely parasitizing Yu Qi. Her emotional fluctuations directly affect when it appears and how it behaves.”

I glanced again at Yu Qi in the distance, still crying uncontrollably. “Of course… she may not be consciously causing these tragedies.”

“Then how do we get rid of it?” Liu Xiaopeng asked.

I thought for a moment, then asked him, “When you burned the corpse, did you see that ancient sword among the burial items?”

“The ancient sword?” Liu Xiaopeng frowned and shook his head. “I burned everything together with that urn, but I definitely didn’t see any sword.”

“That ancient sword was the murder weapon used by that mad Daoist when he was alive, and also his only remaining relic… In a sense, the sword is part of him,” I said.

“So… you’re saying the ancient sword is the reason that yin entity exists?” Liu Xiaopeng suddenly realized.

I nodded. “We must find that sword. Destroying it might eliminate the yin entity.”

After thinking for a moment, Liu Xiaopeng suddenly pulled something out from his chest. It was a worn, heavy book. When he opened it, I saw it was a detailed archive of the Huanglong Temple.

Soon he found something and pointed to a record. “Found it!”

“Back then, the prison authorities awarded Huanglong Temple a high-quality Taiji sword and donated it to the temple.”

“Looks like we have to go back to the temple…” I said, standing up and preparing to head to Huanglong Temple again.

But thinking it was still deep in the night, sneaking in would make it hard to find the sword. It would be better to enter openly and search carefully.

With that in mind, I walked over to Yu Qi and asked her to take us to the temple to find the ancient sword.

After everything she had experienced, Yu Qi was nearly broken—especially after witnessing that disheveled yin entity trying to kill her father. She had been in a dazed, unstable state the entire time.

After hearing my request, it took her a long while to come back to herself, then she nodded and agreed to take us.

This time, we entered Huanglong Temple through the main gate. The people inside had long gone to sleep. After hearing that it was Yu Qi knocking, someone finally came to open the door after a while.

We went inside and searched the entire temple. We questioned almost everyone, but no one had ever seen the Taiji ancient sword stored there.

“Does your father have any place where he hides valuable items?” I asked Yu Qi.

She thought for a moment, then led us behind a curtain in a side hall. There was a safe there. Yu Qi didn’t know the password, but after trying several combinations, the safe actually opened.

However, inside were only some valuables—no ancient sword.

We began to panic. Yu Qi, exhausted and hopeless, broke down crying at the entrance of the main hall, thinking of her father who was still in danger.

Liu Xiaopeng and I refused to give up and continued searching the entire temple. I entered Daoist Yu’s room and activated my spiritual perception, opening my “Heaven’s Eye” to sense abnormalities in spiritual energy.

Under the filtering of my Heaven’s Eye, everything without spiritual energy turned into dull gray-black. In the entire room… only beneath Daoist Yu’s yellow Daoist robe was something faintly glowing with a blue aura.

Overjoyed, I immediately opened my eyes and lifted the robe—revealing a peach wood sword beneath it.

This sword had been in Daoist Yu’s hand when we first arrived at Huanglong Temple, used in his rituals.

But it was not the ancient metal Taiji sword the yin entity had wielded.

I clearly saw it at the time—the sword used to slit Daoist Yu’s throat was a sharp, polished steel blade, not wood.

Frowning, I examined the peach wood sword carefully and sensed something wrong. At first glance it seemed normal, heavily polished and darkened with age, but on closer inspection, the blade and hilt were made of different materials.

From experience, I quickly realized the blade was peach wood, while the hilt was made of a more valuable material.

Moreover, the hilt was clearly older, while the blade seemed to have been attached later.

I finally understood why we couldn’t find the ancient sword anywhere—because this peach wood sword was that Taiji sword of the yin entity.

It had simply been remade into a peach wood sword after the blade had been damaged.

The moment I grabbed the hilt, I suddenly felt a pair of eyes staring at me from behind. I turned immediately and saw Yu Qi standing at the doorway, staring blankly at me.

In an instant, a wisp of black smoke rose from above her head, quickly forming the figure of the disheveled Daoist behind her.

“Don’t even think about it!” I snorted coldly, glaring at the yin entity. With a slight motion of my hand holding the peach wood sword, the Flame of Demon Purification erupted over a meter high, instantly engulfing the entire sword.

The yin entity roared angrily, making incoherent sounds. But the hilt of the peach wood sword was the first to be reduced to ash by my flames, falling to the ground.

The entity let out a scream and instantly vanished from behind Yu Qi.

At that moment, Yu Qi’s face turned deathly pale. She swayed unsteadily, about to collapse at the doorway.
