We soon made a smooth landing at the airport. The two bodies were quickly taken away, and because of Tang Shanshan’s fainting—combined with Miss Zhu Zhu’s family influence—we were released from detention far sooner than expected.
We said goodbye to Xiao Hu. The rest of the matter could only be handled by him; our top priority was still Tang Shanshan’s condition.
With the coordination of the Zhu family’s young lady, Tang Shanshan was quickly sent into an ambulance. We all followed it, preparing to head to the best hospital available to stabilize her condition first.
I, Liu Xiaoqiang, and Zhu Zhu rode in a car driven by the Zhu family’s chauffeur, following closely behind the ambulance as it left the airport. After passing a few overpasses, I began to feel something was wrong. Looking through the rearview mirror, I noticed a black Mercedes S-Class had been trailing us the entire time.
At first, I didn’t think much of it—after all, I had never been to Hong Kong before, and it was unlikely I’d have any enemies here…
But after we left the overpass and entered a relatively quiet street, the Mercedes suddenly accelerated, overtook us, and cut directly in front of the ambulance, forcing it to a halt.
Our Bentley also had no choice but to stop behind the ambulance. I frowned and got out of the car with the others to check what was going on.
The rear door of the Mercedes slowly opened. A man in a white suit stepped out and calmly wiped his hands with a handkerchief.
I recognized him at once from his distinctly mixed-race appearance—it was that effeminate “angel” from my dreams: Marcus.
“Mr. Qiu, at last we meet in person,” he said with a smile.
“Why are you here?” I asked, frowning, puzzled at his sudden appearance and why he had blocked us.
“You came all the way to Hong Kong… weren’t you looking for me?” Marcus smiled faintly.
He was right. We had indeed come to find him this time, and before arriving we had even asked Zhu Zhu to help arrange contacts with this so-called “Vatican diplomat.” But the way he appeared now made me uneasy.
“Hand Miss Tang Shanshan over to me. It’s useless to send her to any hospital now—you should know that,” Marcus said, crossing his arms and gesturing toward the ambulance with his chin.
At that moment, the medical staff inside the ambulance got out, intending to argue with the driver blocking their way. But as soon as they stepped out, Marcus’s driver knocked them unconscious with a single chop.
“What are you doing?!” I shouted immediately.
“Don’t be nervous, Mr. Qiu. Let us take Miss Tang Shanshan. I’ll take care of the thing inside her,” Marcus said calmly, as if everything was under control.
His attitude was infuriating.
I began to doubt whether bringing Tang Shanshan to find him had been the right choice.
“Xiao Liu, come with me and get your Shanshan sister out. Call the police immediately!” I said to Xiaopeng beside me, moving toward the ambulance door.
But Marcus slowly stepped forward and blocked our path.
I frowned and tried to go around him with Liu Xiaoqiang to open the ambulance door. Marcus did nothing—he simply sighed theatrically.
Then I heard a crisp sound behind me.
Snap.
At that moment, Liu Xiaopeng suddenly went weak and collapsed to the ground. Not far away, Zhu Zhu, the driver, and even the medical staff all suffered the same fate.
I quickly checked on Liu Xiaopeng, and Marcus’s voice rang out again:
“Don’t worry. They’re all fine.”
“What exactly do you want?” I stared at this self-righteous aristocrat.
“Everything that follows is not something a small character like you is qualified to interfere with. Since you helped locate the ancient Yin jade—and provided a suitable vessel for that being’s primordial spirit—I’ll spare your life… but you’d better take your friends and leave. Otherwise… I won’t have much patience.”
“There are still many important matters waiting for me and that great being.”
As he spoke, Marcus’s gaze shifted toward the unconscious Tang Shanshan in the ambulance.
Hearing his words, I was shaken to the core. It felt like everything was part of a massive trap…
And we had walked step by step into it. If we handed Tang Shanshan over now, the consequences would be unimaginable.
I looked at the unconscious Tang Shanshan and clenched my teeth. No matter what, I had to take her away.
“Within the three realms and beyond, only the Dao is revered. My body is protected by golden light!”
I seized the moment when Marcus was distracted and immediately activated the Golden Light Mantra.
A massive burst of golden radiance erupted from my body. I no longer held back and charged directly toward Marcus and his driver, aiming to reach the ambulance and drive it away.
But just as I closed in to within a meter of him, I found my body unable to move at all.
Marcus had raised one hand, fingers shaped like a claw, pointing at me. The technique reminded me of the Roaming Fiend I had encountered on the plane earlier.
It felt as though an enormous invisible hand was gripping me…
If not for the golden protective light around me, my bones would have already been crushed.
Marcus shook his head and looked at me with contempt, as if advising me not to struggle. But I refused to give up. Spiritual energy surged through my body, and the golden light grew brighter and brighter…
At the same time, I forced my arm free and drew a formation in the air before my chest.
“Heaven descends essence, Earth responds; Sun and Moon manifest spirit—Supreme Spirit Sword, command authority in all directions!”
I quickly chanted the incantation. Within the void formation before me, a golden spiritual sword materialized from illusion into reality—the Spirit Sword Incantation was complete!
The moment I gripped the sword with both hands, a torrent of spiritual energy surged into my body from all directions. My protective golden light transformed from a radiant glow into layers of floating golden shields surrounding me. The force restraining me from Marcus was instantly neutralized.
This was the highest manifestation of Daoist natural harmony. By using the spell formation as a guide and my own spiritual energy as the medium, I invoked the Spirit Sword Incantation. Heaven and earth resonated, and natural spiritual energy was drawn into the sword.
In this state of unity between man and nature, my cultivation surged to an unprecedented level. Standing there, my eyes blazed with golden light as I stared at the effeminate “angel” before me, not daring to let my guard down for even a second.
Because I had once glimpsed the true form hidden within this aristocratic man—it was one of the most terrifying powers I had ever seen.
Yet fate was strange. I no longer knew where I found the courage to challenge this being with holy wings of an angel.
