An invisible force pinned me against the ceiling of the cabin. Below me, I could see the tea kettle used by the flight attendants. Its lid had been knocked askew, and tea had spilled all over the floor, though a small amount of water still remained inside.
I steeled myself and bit down hard on my own tongue. In a low voice, I began chanting the Nine Phoenix Water God Incantation:
“Respectfully invite the Nine Phoenixes to purge filth, heavenly divine officers, descend from the cloud realm, stars shift and constellations turn, shimmering with the radiance of the Three Lights!”
As my voice echoed, a drop of my blood—glowing with golden spiritual energy—fell from the corner of my mouth into the kettle. Instantly, the water inside turned brilliant gold. Nine tiny golden phoenixes began to swirl and soar within it.
“Nine phoenixes soaring, breaking filth in all directions; ascending to the golden palace to meet the Jade Emperor in person; all impurities, disperse and leave at once!”
With every word I uttered, the surrounding spiritual energy intensified.
In an instant, the water in the kettle connected with all the spilled water on the ground, converging midair into nine translucent phoenixes. They then shot forward and coiled around the possessed captain, spiraling continuously around his body before finally drilling into him through his seven orifices.
“You brat… you’ve got some tricks. I won’t play with you anymore!”
The voice of the Rakshasa came from the captain’s throat, making my scalp tingle.
The captain’s eyes flickered between black and white before he finally let out a painful, guttural scream.
“Aaaah!!”
With that agonized roar, a mass of black smoke surged out from his mouth and shot out of the cockpit. The cold wind it carried swept the curtain at the doorway wide open.
Through the lifted curtain, I saw Tang Shanshan was just about to enter from outside…
And the black smoke formed from the Rakshasa instantly rushed toward her.
She froze, eyes wide with shock. My heart sank—was it going to possess her again?
I erupted with spiritual energy and charged forward immediately. But then something strange happened before my eyes.
The black smoke did not enter her body. Instead, it stopped right in front of her and hovered silently in the air. Then it slowly took on a humanoid shape—and knelt down before her.
Tang Shanshan stumbled backward in panic. Even I froze in place.
The surrounding passengers had also witnessed everything. Screams erupted throughout the cabin. Some even tried to stand and flee—but quickly remembered they were tens of thousands of meters in the air and could only tremble in their seats.
The Rakshasa, now a black humanoid figure, remained kneeling before Tang Shanshan.
Then, with a gesture of its hand in midair, faint golden light began to emerge from within the black mist.
I was stunned.
It was the Refining Spirit Technique I had used before.
This Rakshasa… was actually using the Refining Spirit Technique—and its target was itself.
In my stunned silence, the black figure of the Rakshasa dissolved back into smoke, then was wrapped in its own golden radiance. In the end, it was refined into a glowing spirit pill.
The spirit pill floated gently in the air and flew straight toward Tang Shanshan. Before she could even react, it landed between her eyebrows and merged into her body.
Then, her legs went weak and she collapsed.
I rushed forward and caught her, checking her condition.
She had fallen unconscious. I immediately probed her body with spiritual sense and found that her primordial spirit was rapidly absorbing the spirit pill refined from the Rakshasa.
Her own soul was growing stronger—so strong that it was completely suppressing the dark mass of yin energy born from the Yin Jade.
I frowned.
Logically, this should be a good thing… but why had she fainted?
Thinking back to the Rakshasa kneeling earlier, I couldn’t determine whether her condition was now good or bad.
At that moment, the eerie scene in the cabin disappeared, and the aircraft regained control. But the emotions of both passengers and crew had already collapsed to the brink.
What they had just witnessed was beyond terrifying—something that shattered all understanding of reality. Anyone would have lost their sanity.
Before I could even help Tang Shanshan back to her seat, I was suddenly struck by a punch that stunned me.
I looked up and saw a sky marshal, already aiming a stun gun at me. Any resistance now would mean getting shot.
I sighed and gently laid Tang Shanshan down, raising my hands to show I wouldn’t resist. Then I gathered spiritual energy in my palms and murmured:
“Heaven and earth are born together, returning form to the primordial truth; clarity and emptiness reflect all things, let go of mortal dust!”
This was a Daoist calming incantation used to clear the mind and eliminate distractions.
With my spiritual energy amplifying it, the words transformed into golden light that spread throughout the cabin.
In an instant, everyone fell into a state of clarity. The fear and panic vanished. Passengers sat quietly in their seats, dazed but calm.
Even the sky marshal holding the stun gun slowly relaxed. He lowered his weapon, his expression turning confused, as if he had forgotten why he had raised it in the first place.
“Quick!”
I patted Liu Xiaopeng, who was also starting to drift into that blank state. Liu Xiaopeng was a descendant of Liu Bowen…
Although the power of the Liujia Sword Bloodline had not yet awakened, he still possessed some spiritual sensitivity, so he was not fully affected.
“Turn your talismans into water and give it to them to drink,” I told him.
He immediately nodded, returned to the service area, dissolved his talismans into water, and pushed a trolley through the cabin distributing it to every passenger.
I then helped Tang Shanshan into a seat and left her in Zhu Zhu’s care before heading to the cockpit.
The entire flight had been controlled by Xiao Hu. He had already contacted air traffic control and reported the situation…
Of course, he had used years of experience at the airport to “rationalize” everything. Anything that would be unbelievable had been concealed.
ATC finally instructed them to land at Hong Kong Airport.
After landing, ground security would immediately take control of the aircraft situation.
After drinking the talisman water distributed by Liu Xiaopeng, all passengers forgot the bizarre scene of the Rakshasa kneeling. That memory had been sealed away by the spiritual power in the water, and the cabin returned to calm as if nothing had happened.
Only the bodies of the captain and the chief steward lying in the cockpit remained as proof that none of this had ever ended… and Xiao Hu would likely struggle greatly when explaining it afterward.
