It could be said that it wasn’t Wang Ke’s father—or even me—who defeated the yin entity formed from “Wu Yi.” Rather, it was that man himself who, by violating the laws of nature and harming living beings, had already planted the seed of his own destruction.

I merely triggered the switch that set that fate into motion.

We quickly sent Wang Ke and his father back to the hospital. Although Wang Ke’s father suffered some burns, he ultimately survived.

At dawn, I drove to the town police station and left a sealed letter at the entrance. The letter was written in the name of Wang Ke’s father.

In it, I recorded everything that had happened thirty years ago in meticulous detail, and also listed the names of the other nine people involved.

But those nine children who had been swallowed by the yin entity formed from Wu Yi would never experience this world again.

Their bodies were soon discovered in the water pool. The parents of those nine children were also arrested shortly after because of that letter. All of this, however, no longer had anything to do with the three of us.

From beginning to end, I still couldn’t figure out why Tang Shanshan could see all those visions. Nor could I understand why, after I refined the yin entity, the spirit essence pill I obtained would automatically merge into her body—or what kind of connection existed between these phenomena.

I could only attribute all the unexplainable aspects to the Yin Jade consciousness hidden within Tang Shanshan.

Because of this, I had to find a way as soon as possible to resolve everything and restore Tang Shanshan to normal.

At that moment, we were driving back.

Liu Xiaopeng, sitting in the back seat, suddenly asked, “There’s one thing I still don’t understand. Why did Wu Yi wait thirty years before making his move?”

I had been thinking about the same question all along. On the surface, it seemed we had resolved the evil spirit formed from Wu Yi and also uncovered a thirty-year-old wrongful case. But in reality, there were still too many things we couldn’t understand.

I shook my head, about to say I didn’t know either, when Tang Shanshan sitting in the passenger seat suddenly spoke:

“Last night, when I was bewitched by the yin entity and went from the hospital to that deep pool, I felt like I was dreaming the whole time. I saw all kinds of illusions. Maybe… those illusions can explain this.”

“What illusions?” I turned to look at her.

“I saw Wu Yi being thrown into the pool back then. I also saw him over the years, becoming a vengeful spirit but unable to leave the underwater cave. And also…”

“And I saw a man in a suit floating above the water. White light was coming from his hand. Wu Yi’s yin form seemed to be awakened by him and rose from the depths of the pool, his face twisted in rage.”

“A man in a suit?” My heart tightened. I even slowed the car down. “Did he look like a foreigner? Was he mixed-race?”

Tang Shanshan narrowed her eyes in thought. “I think so… he was quite handsome. But how do you know that?”

“So it really was him…”

At that moment, I finally understood why the spirit essence pill had merged into Tang Shanshan’s body on its own.

Perhaps this had all been part of that effeminate man’s plan from the very beginning—to help me complete the task of suppressing the Yin Jade consciousness within Tang Shanshan, obtain the Yin Jade, and also acquire my ancestral Record of Insight into the Heavens. He deliberately used his power to awaken the yin entity, and then forced me to refine it.

In other words, the yin entity in that pool may not have been a natural formation at all—it might have been manifested recently by that effeminate man using his own abilities.

The abilities of beings like “angels” truly exceeded my imagination. He could gather yin energy against the natural order, awaken such a being, and even grant it such overwhelming resentment.

Along the way, Tang Shanshan kept asking how I knew this man. I could only explain everything that had happened before… except I left out the part where I had glimpsed his true identity—that he might be an angel with wings.

We soon returned to the city. We originally planned to return the car to Zhu Zhu, so I called her, but she generously told me to keep using it for now. I didn’t refuse and drove straight back to the office.

After everything these past days, all three of us were utterly exhausted. So we ate a big meal at a restaurant downstairs and prepared to sleep, planning to figure out how to deal with Tang Shanshan’s condition after waking up.

We each went home and collapsed into bed.

I slept until dawn the next day. When I got up and went downstairs to grab something to eat, I ran into Tang Shanshan wearing rather light clothing.

Ever since that intimate moment at the hospital, my relationship with Tang Shanshan had become somewhat strange.

For some reason, this once domineering landlady would now blush slightly whenever she saw me… and I, too, felt something indescribable when I looked at her.

“Wha… what is it?” I asked first, noticing she seemed to have come downstairs looking for me.

“Hong Kong…” Tang Shanshan said two words that left me puzzled.

Before I could ask, she continued, “That Marcus… he’s in Hong Kong.”

I frowned. “How do you know that?”

She took out her phone and showed me her chat history with Zhu Zhu.

After a long conversation, Zhu Zhu had sent her a photo. In it, a tall, elegant man in a white suit was giving a speech at what looked like a gala banquet. A confident smile rested on his face.

Zhu Zhu also wrote that it was a charity gala jointly hosted by the Zhu family and the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce.

Among the invited guests was a man named Marcus, whose identity was listed as the Director of the Public Affairs Council of the Roman Curia.

“Is there still a Roman Curia?” I asked after reading the chat.

Tang Shanshan adjusted her hair thoughtfully. “I’m not sure either. But Zhu Zhu said this Roman Curia is essentially the Vatican government… and this Public Affairs Council is like a foreign ministry…”

“In other words, Marcus is basically a diplomat for the Vatican, responsible for maintaining relations with different countries and regions, and managing the Church’s overseas missions,” she explained.

“Hong Kong is one of the regions with the most Catholic believers and churches in the East, so his presence there isn’t strange.”

She took her phone back.

I fell into thought.

The identity that the effeminate man had assumed actually matched his true nature quite well—an angel of God, handling the Church’s diplomatic affairs. It was almost fitting.

I recalled what he had said in my dream.

Tang Shanshan’s condition was now relatively stable…

And it was time for him to fulfill his promise.

Now that we knew where he was, the next step was clear—we had to go find him.
