“How about… you do it?” Shentu glanced at me, then pointed toward the frozen surface below, clearly indicating that I should open a passage.
I nodded. At this point, there was no reason to hesitate or decline.
Leaping down from the air, I landed on the blue ice. The intense cold radiating beneath my feet immediately reminded me of what it had felt like in the Eighth Cold Hell.
Slowly crouching down, I placed my hand against the icy surface.
“Heavenly Primordial Sea God, Azure Elder Tiger Mother. Flowing Yang brings calamity; by decree, stir the Jade Pure!”
As I chanted the Water Command Spell of Primordial Unity, my fingers traced a formation across the ice before I rose to my feet.
In an instant, the entire frozen river began to rumble. Amid the faint blue glow emitted by the ice, strands of golden light appeared. The frozen surface started melting at an astonishing speed.
Before long, the ice beneath me had transformed into calm water.
“Heh. Three days of seclusion really does make a person worth looking at with new eyes,” Shentu said with a faint smile as she descended and stood upon the water as well.
I ignored her teasing.
I couldn’t even describe my emotions right now. Nervousness mixed with hatred, impatience, and anxiety, while reason kept reminding me to stay calm and clear-headed.
“Let’s go.”
With that, I plunged beneath the surface first.
Using the Great Golden Light Spell to push the water away, I created an air pocket around myself and rapidly descended into the depths. Out of the corner of my eye, I soon saw Liu Xiaopeng and Shentu following behind.
As I sank deeper, I pondered several things. Glancing at the distance between Shentu, Liu Xiaopeng, and myself, I deliberately slowed down, allowing Liu Xiaopeng to catch up.
“We need to be extra wary of Shentu from here on,” I transmitted quietly after lightly tapping his shoulder.
Liu Xiaopeng froze for a moment before nodding in the water.
“You’re worried she’ll use the opportunity to reclaim the other two-thirds of her primordial spirit and then turn on us?”
I nodded.
“I’ve always felt that she has another agenda.”
The two of us exchanged a glance.
At this point, the blade was already at our throats. All we could do was adapt to whatever happened.
The river proved far deeper than I had imagined. Our bodies shot downward like torpedoes for nearly ten minutes.
Then suddenly, a sensation of weightlessness overtook me.
The surrounding water vanished.
I was breathing air again.
The air here carried an overwhelming chill. Darkness stretched in every direction, so absolute that I couldn’t see my own hand in front of my face. I intentionally intensified the glow of the Golden Light Spell around me, hoping to illuminate the surroundings, only to discover that we seemed trapped in an endless void.
“Hurry up!”
Shentu’s voice sounded beside my ear.
A figure shot past me and continued plunging downward.
Grinding my teeth, Liu Xiaopeng and I followed.
Moments later, Shentu landed on solid ground. She stood beside an underground river, holding a glowing sphere of light like a giant light bulb.
Liu Xiaopeng and I exchanged a look and landed beside her.
“This… is the rift?” I asked with a frown.
We seemed to be inside a massive karst cavern. An underground river flowed quietly beneath our feet, disappearing into the distance with faint echoes of running water. The surrounding stone walls were damp and slick.
Other than that, however, there was nothing unusual.
I found it difficult to believe that this was the so-called Rift of the Three Realms.
Shentu remained expressionless and didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, she tossed the glowing energy sphere into the air.
Then the black short spear appeared in her right hand.
Bang!
She drove the spear directly into the underground river.
Instantly, the water turned as black as ink. Wisps of dark Yin energy began drifting upward from its surface.
“This is the Netherworld Rift.”
As she spoke, the spear embedded in the river emitted a low hum before flying back into her hand.
Next, she walked toward a crack in one of the stone walls.
Only then did I notice a narrow fissure on the wall to our right. A faint stream of warm air was flowing through it.
That meant the space beyond the crack was significantly warmer than where we stood.
Shentu hurled the spear once more.
This time, she aimed directly at the fissure in the wall.
Yet the soul weapon forged for her by Old Que did not behave as it always had.
Bang!
After colliding with the crack, the spear was actually repelled.
The tiny fissure suddenly lit up with a sacred radiance.
Even Shentu’s spear became stained with traces of that holy light.
She paused and waited until the white glow faded from the weapon before retrieving it.
“This is the Divine Realm Rift.”
She then looked upward toward the void through which we had fallen.
“And the frozen river above is the Human Realm Rift.”
“There is something else you must remember,” Shentu added, crossing her arms in her characteristic pose.
“The rifts here don’t distinguish between Eastern and Western realms.”
“You mean…” Liu Xiaopeng frowned. “Through these rifts, you can reach both the Eastern and Western heavens and hells?”
Clearly, he was just as confused as I was.
I was about to ask another question when the Divine Realm Rift suddenly began flashing.
The white light flickered violently like an enormous strobe, flashing in completely irregular patterns.
Shentu’s expression immediately changed.
“Something’s coming out!”
All of us froze.
With a wave of her hand, Shentu signaled us to retreat several steps.
By now, I had already raised the Black Jade Revolver, aiming its barrel directly at the fissure.
Buzzz…
In an instant, the cavern transformed from darkness into brilliant daylight.
I instinctively narrowed my eyes.
Within the blinding radiance, I could vaguely make out an enormous shape appearing overhead.
I was stunned.
As my eyes gradually adjusted to the light, I finally saw what had emerged.
It was a gigantic sheep.
That’s right—a sheep with four legs, snow-white wool covering its entire body, and two massive, razor-sharp horns protruding from its head.
While I was still reeling from the shock, I noticed two dark figures in front of it.
The giant sheep had clearly attacked them, sending them flying with its horns. Only after being launched a great distance did they manage to stabilize themselves in midair, both figures swaying slightly.
As I stared at them, my heart began pounding violently.
One was a man and the other a woman.
The woman was unmistakably Tang Shanshan.
Yet I knew full well that the soul controlling that body was someone else entirely.
And the male figure…
Naturally, it was Lucifer.
