In the blink of an eye, a few more months had passed, and the New Year arrived. In the cold, crisp wind, crystal-like snowflakes drifted down.
The New Energy Vehicle City in Biyun District was veiled in a layer of white, making the entire city look even more dreamlike.
Within a few months, the New Energy Vehicle City had already been completed and had undergone multiple rounds of trial production. The machinery and equipment had been tuned repeatedly. Just the sample cars produced during these test runs had already numbered over a thousand. Those thousands of dome-shaped structures, resembling yurts, were in fact independent production workshops.
At this moment, the lights in one of the yurts lit up, and the structure began to flash like a colorful egg, with several colors shifting continuously.
Zhang Jiaohua was standing in the monitoring room, watching the scene inside the yurt. Each yurt was a super clean dust-free chamber. He could see with his own eyes how, on the machining platforms, a new energy vehicle gradually grew from nothing, the speed astonishingly fast. The entire structure of the car grew in this way, with no seams anywhere. The whole vehicle was one integrated whole. Moreover, every part of the car was transparent. Without the color-shifting effects, many components were so clear that they were practically invisible.
From start to finish, the process of a car “growing” into a fully completed vehicle took a little over ten hours. Factoring in preparation time, each car required about a full day. For Zhang Jiaohua, this speed was already very satisfying. After all, the technical difficulty of producing new energy vehicles was extremely high.
“Mayor, we have a dilemma,” Ji Jiaxin said. “We’ve already produced some cars in trial runs, but to maintain secrecy around our new energy vehicles, we don’t want the public to learn of their mysterious design just yet. That makes test-driving a big problem. The moment one of these cars leaves the industrial park, it could be secretly photographed by waiting reporters.”
“That’s easy enough. Just move the cars to Giant Sword Tower for testing,” Zhang Jiaohua replied.
Ji Jiaxin nodded. “Then for now, only our own people can do the test-driving.”
“Count me in,” Zhang Jiaohua said.
“Come on, Jiaohua, you’re the mayor. How can you act as a test driver? Leave that to me instead,” Zhang Yuanbao laughed.
“Get lost. Yuanbao, you barely contributed to this project, and you still have the nerve to test-drive?” Zhang Jiaohua pushed him aside.
“Jiaohua, you’re calling your elder brother by name so casually? And now you’re shoving me around? I’ll complain to Uncle and Aunt about you later!” Zhang Yuanbao rubbed his shoulder as if it had been hurt.
“What’s there to fight over? We’ve got over a thousand new cars. Whoever wants a try, just take one more over there,” Ji Jiaxin said with a smile.
That evening, under the cover of night, a massive object appeared on the plaza outside the warehouse of the New Energy Vehicle Industrial Park. At first glance, it was well hidden in the snowy white landscape. Only when the massive object’s hatch opened to reveal a gaping dark cavity did it show signs of its true form.
One after another, the new cars drove into the belly of the giant object. Once inside, they were automatically transported onto racks. Astonishingly, the object could hold three layers of cars—more than twenty vehicles in total.
When it was full, the hatch slowly closed. The giant object suddenly lifted into the air and vanished from the skies above the industrial park in the blink of an eye.
Not long after, it reappeared beneath the Giant Sword Tower. The hatch opened again, and the cars rolled out one by one.
“Let’s go! To the mountain road!” Ji Jiaxin headed for one of the new energy vehicles.
The mountain road wound around the ranges near Giant Sword Tower, built along the inner edge of the sect-protecting formation. Without entering the formation, outsiders couldn’t possibly see inside. The road was mainly built for maintaining the great formation, so the Meishan Sect cultivators stationed at the Tower could patrol and inspect it anytime.
These new energy vehicles didn’t need drivers—they were controlled by an intelligent bio-energy system.
When Ji Jiaxin approached the car, she discovered it was completely seamless and transparent—even the outline of the doors was invisible.
“How do I get in?” she muttered. As a CEO rather than a tech specialist, even she had no idea where the car doors were.
“Hello, Ms. Ji. I am Biyun-03 bio-energy vehicle. Please enter the cockpit,” said a voice. The front of the car seemed to open and close like a human mouth. It was only a light effect, but it still left Ji Jiaxin stunned. Right before her eyes, a sleek door gradually formed out of the once seamless surface, glowing with flowing light. The effect was dazzlingly beautiful.
Suppressing her excitement, Ji Jiaxin stepped inside. With years of driving experience, she was no stranger to cars, but she had never seen anything remotely this futuristic.
She sat down, testing the comfort of the seat. Just as she was about to adjust it, the seat automatically moved into her optimal position. A seatbelt extended from the side and buckled her in, fitting so naturally it felt like part of her clothing.
“Ms. Ji, you may select manual driving or autonomous mode. In manual mode, please pay attention to road condition prompts. In emergencies, the system will automatically take control for safe navigation,” the intelligent system said.
Ji Jiaxin wanted to feel the car herself. “I’ll drive it manually.”
“Understood. Wishing you a pleasant journey,” the voice replied, sounding almost human.
The moment the car started, Ji Jiaxin’s heart raced. The engine’s vibration was smooth and powerful. As it accelerated, the ride remained unbelievably steady. In seconds, the speed climbed to seventy or eighty kilometers per hour.
“Please watch your speed. There’s a curve ahead, slow down,” the system prompted.
Though the vehicle was entirely transparent, Ji Jiaxin could still clearly perceive its outline. With no blind spots anywhere, it was an experience no other car could offer.
The speed climbed higher—up to 150 km/h in an instant. Still, the ride was perfectly smooth, completely silent, with no jolts or shaking. Only the scenery flashing past the transparent walls hinted at the incredible velocity.
“Wow!” Ji Jiaxin couldn’t help but scream in excitement—the car felt like it was flying.
