Zhang Jiaohua instructed the medical staff of the Meishan Sect in Meizi’ao to administer the optimization serum to those on the list he had personally selected. This included his parents and other close relatives, as well as a few individuals with good character and close ties to him. Chen Dianzi, now a senior elder of the Meishan Sect, also had his trusted family members and close friends included on the list.

However, Zhang Jiaohua did not disclose the true purpose of the optimization serum to most of them. He merely told them that it was a newly developed immunization serum.

Of course, he did not hide the truth from Chen Dianzi. The nature of the serum shocked Chen Dianzi greatly.

“I really can’t believe it — you’ve actually managed to develop something like this. This information must be kept strictly confidential, or it will lead to endless trouble,” Chen Dianzi said, quickly realizing the implications.

“That’s why I told them it’s a vaccine. Give it a few more years — once we’ve grown stronger, we won’t have to worry about things like this anymore,” Zhang Jiaohua said calmly.

Chen Dianzi nodded. “I truly didn’t expect you to make it this far. Impressive! If only you were older, you’d be the perfect son-in-law for me.”

Zhang Jiaohua laughed, “Chen Dianzi, are you worried your daughter won’t be able to find a husband?”

“My daughter can’t find a husband? What a joke! She’s a big star — there are tons of men lining up to marry her. She’s the one who’s too picky. Don’t you go talking nonsense, or I’ll deal with you myself!” Chen Dianzi jumped up angrily, rolling up his sleeves as if to fight Zhang Jiaohua — though, of course, he had no intention of actually fighting. He couldn’t win against Zhang Jiaohua now anyway.

Chen Cheng had also hurried back this time because she qualified to receive the optimization serum.

Now a top-tier, in-demand celebrity in China, Chen Cheng’s schedule was packed. But when her father summoned her, she canceled all her pending appointments — even breaking some confirmed ones — because Chen Dianzi had insisted in a way she couldn’t refuse.

When she arrived at Meizi’ao, she appeared angry, ignoring Chen Dianzi entirely and speaking only to her mother, Chen Fang.

“Chen Cheng, believe your mother — your father really has your best interests in mind this time. Jiaohua is back, and he’s brought a vaccine. They say it can boost immunity. Your father worked hard to secure one dose for each of us,” Chen Fang quickly tried to appease her.

“Jiaohua’s back?” The moment Chen Cheng heard this, all her anger vanished instantly.

“Your father just went to find him,” Chen Fang smiled.

“Then I’ll go too. That brat is getting more capable by the day — I hear he’s a county magistrate now. Let’s see if he still recognizes me as his big sister,” Chen Cheng said as she walked out.

Chen Dianzi had recently moved from his old place across the mountain to a villa in Meizi Pond, not far from Zhang Jiaohua’s home. Chen Cheng often vacationed here, so she was very familiar with the area.

As Zhang Jiaohua and Chen Dianzi were talking, Chen Cheng came rushing in like a whirlwind.

“Oh, you good-for-nothing Jiaohua! You actually got my dad to sabotage my career! I’m at the peak of my stardom right now — even a small misstep could ruin everything. Calling me back in such a hurry — are you trying to destroy me? You’d better give me a good explanation today, or I won’t let this go!” At first, Chen Cheng was a bit surprised at how much Zhang Jiaohua had changed. He had grown taller, his features more mature and handsome — and she couldn’t help feeling a little flutter in her heart.

“Sister Chen Cheng, you’ve misunderstood me. Our lab just developed a vaccine that enhances immunity. I worked hard to get a few doses. Only those who are close to me are getting any. Also, Uncle Dianzi wants to teach you something — I promise, you won’t regret coming back this time,” Zhang Jiaohua said with a smile.

“Jiaohua! If you call my dad ‘Uncle Dianzi’ again, I won’t let you off! It’s ‘Uncle Chen,’ not that disrespectful nickname. Where are your manners?” Although Chen Cheng hadn’t shown her father any kindness since returning, she couldn’t tolerate others being disrespectful to him.

Chen Dianzi chuckled, “Jiaohua, you rascal — so cheeky. No respect for your elders. Chen Cheng, you’d better teach him a lesson!”

“I’ll deal with you later,” Chen Cheng said, rolling her eyes at her father.

Chen Dianzi stuck out his tongue and gave Zhang Jiaohua a mischievous grin.

“You two chat. I’ve got something to do in the mountains.” With a wink at Zhang Jiaohua, Chen Dianzi turned and walked off.

Soon, his voice echoed from Meishan: “Watching the fields turn green again, Watching Jiao Lian grow into a beauty, Only sixteen years of age, Slanted brows and delicate eyes, truly charming…”

Zhang Jiaohua couldn’t stop laughing. “Uncle Dianzi has such a great voice — it’s a pity he didn’t go into showbiz like you.”

“Jiaohua, are you looking down on people in the entertainment industry?” Chen Cheng glared at him.

“No, no, absolutely not. Especially someone like you, Sister Chen Cheng, who relies on real talent — I have nothing but admiration. Have you forgotten? I used to be in the industry too.”

“Hmph, with that face of yours, it’s a shame you’re not making a living off your looks,” she teased.

“What kind of logic is that? So it’s only normal if I live off my looks?” he asked, clearly annoyed.

“I’m saying you’re so good-looking that if you joined the industry, you’d be a superstar. That’s why I think it’s a pity,” she said with a grin.

“By the way, how are Sister Tang Yan and Brother Haibo doing?” he asked casually.

“They’re getting more and more popular. Movies and TV shows — they’re drowning in offers. Last time we worked on a film together, we even talked about you. Who would’ve thought you’d finish your PhD so soon — and become an official too?” she said.

“Sister Chen Cheng, don’t get too caught up in the entertainment world. What Uncle Chen wants you to do will be much more beneficial in the long run,” he said seriously.

Chen Cheng sensed there was more behind his words. “Jiaohua, just tell me straight. Don’t beat around the bush.”

“You’ll understand in a few days. It’s not something I can explain right now,” he replied, knowing this wasn’t the right place for such a conversation. Even though they were in Meizi Pond, he couldn’t guarantee their talk would remain absolutely private.

Chen Cheng hated uncertainty and was getting frustrated, but no matter how she pressed him, Zhang Jiaohua refused to say anything more.
