After eating and drinking their fill, the group once again set off deeper into the forest.

Awooo!

A sudden beastly roar echoed from deep within the woods, as if declaring its sovereignty to these foreign intruders.

This roar was no ordinary sound. Even the usually fearless Mountain-Leaping Leopard and all the mountain-hunting dogs bristled, their fur standing on end, ready for combat. It had been a long time since Zhang Jiaohua had seen the leopard act so cautiously. Clearly, this beast was no ordinary creature.

“You three must stay alert. Stay close to me and don’t get separated. Under no circumstances should you step outside the protective circle formed by the mountain dogs. You must stay inside the formation,” Zhang Jiaohua said seriously.

“Jiaohua, is that thing really powerful?” Zhang Yuanbao asked.

“I don’t know for sure, but it’s not simple. I haven’t seen the leopard act like this in ages,” Zhang Jiaohua replied.

Instead of fear, Zhang Yuanbao and the mute seemed thrilled and excited.

“You two better not mess around. If anything happens, I won’t be able to look after you,” Zhang Jiaohua quickly warned.

“Jiaohua, is it really that dangerous?” Ji Jiaxin asked nervously. They had encountered many wild animals along the journey, even packs of large blue wolves that didn’t dare challenge them. For Zhang Jiaohua to be this tense, the threat had to be serious. But she found it strange—what kind of terrifying beast could still be hiding in Meishan?

“It’s a bit dangerous. Don’t worry, just follow my commands later,” Zhang Jiaohua reassured her.

Suddenly, the Mountain-Leaping Leopard, Black Cat, and Fat Monkey vanished into the forest. Moments later, the leopard’s barking rang out from ahead.

“Woof woof! Woof woof!”

The leopard’s cries stirred the entire pack of mountain-hunting dogs into action. Twenty-four of the strongest dogs stepped forward from the larger group, forming a tight and strategic formation like a military unit. They quickly charged in the direction of the leopard’s calls. Their barking wasn’t loud, but it resonated with a powerful intensity.

Another team of twenty-four dogs emerged. While slightly less elite than the first team, their formation still carried significant force.

Once all the dogs had assembled into groups of twenty-four, Zhang Jiaohua finally realized something: the number of dogs he’d brought perfectly formed ten complete hunting formations. He hadn’t bothered counting or planning for this—he had just let the leopard, the monkey, and the cat bring whomever they pleased. Yet somehow, everything had been perfectly organized ahead of time.

The Twenty-Four Hound Sweep Formation—once fully formed, these dog teams could dominate the mountains, forcing even tigers and leopards to retreat. That alone spoke volumes about their power. But now, there weren’t just one or two formations… there were ten of them. Few wild beasts could possibly stand up to such a force.

“Awooo!”

The beast’s roar only grew more furious. Clearly, it wasn’t intimidated by the ten hunting teams. On the contrary, it was enraged.

“Brother Yuanbao, Mute, take a few of the teams and stay here. I’m going ahead to scout. Don’t move recklessly, and above all, protect Ji Jiaxin,” Zhang Jiaohua ordered solemnly.

“I’m coming with you! Don’t leave me behind,” Ji Jiaxin quickly interjected.

“No. It’s too dangerous ahead. If we engage, I won’t be able to protect you,” Zhang Jiaohua said, finding a defensible spot for Zhang Yuanbao and the mute to hide with Ji Jiaxin. He also left five teams of dogs to guard the area. Ordinary beasts wouldn’t be able to breach a single formation—let alone five.

Though Ji Jiaxin was curious and eager to follow, Zhang Jiaohua’s tone made her reconsider. She didn’t want to become a burden.

After finishing his arrangements, Zhang Jiaohua moved quickly forward.

“Woof woof!”

“Meow!”

“Chatter chatter chatter!”

The dogs, cat, and monkey all let out sharp cries—clearly locking horns with the unknown beast ahead.

The beast, agitated and restless, continued to roar furiously.

As Zhang Jiaohua approached, he saw a large, heavily patterned beast squaring off against the Mountain-Leaping Leopard and the others.

“What is that?” Zhang Jiaohua stared, dumbfounded.

He immediately recognized it: a leopard cat (golden leopard). But this wasn’t any ordinary golden leopard—those typically weighed 50 to 100 kilograms. This one was massive, weighing over 500 jin (more than 550 pounds).

Sensing Zhang Jiaohua’s arrival, the golden leopard became even more agitated and aggressive.

Awooo!” It suddenly lunged at him, jaws open and targeting his throat.

“You’re asking for death!” Zhang Jiaohua flung a talisman toward it.

Boom! A bolt of mystic thunder descended from the sky.

The golden leopard yowled as its entire body convulsed from the electric shock.

Seeing another talisman appear in Zhang Jiaohua’s hand, the beast panicked and fled far into the distance, glaring back in fear.

“Woof!” The Mountain-Leaping Leopard seemed to be mocking it gleefully.

Looking around and seeing nothing but formidable opponents, the golden leopard shed all pride and ran for its life without a second thought.

“Chase it!” Zhang Jiaohua had already engaged—it was time to track it back to its lair.

The golden leopard fled swiftly, abandoning everything as it disappeared into a mountain.

Soon, it vanished entirely from sight.

“Eh? Gone?” Zhang Jiaohua looked everywhere but couldn’t find a trace.

“How could that be? Don’t tell me it can turn invisible?” he muttered in confusion.

Waving his hand, he said, “Leopard, go find where that thing’s hiding.”

The Mountain-Leaping Leopard had an excellent nose. It quickly picked up the trail within the forest.

“Hmm? This feels familiar…” Zhang Jiaohua noticed the leopard’s tracks disappearing into thin air—very similar to the secret realm of the Luo Immortal Sect.

“Could this be another secret realm?” he wondered aloud.

He reached out toward the leopard’s footprints—and sure enough, something was off.

What appeared to be a dead end turned out to be a barrier. Zhang Jiaohua stepped forward and walked right through it.

What lay beyond was a stunning landscape.

So beautiful!

Awooo!

Suddenly, the golden leopard lunged at him from the side, jaws wide open and aiming straight for his throat.

Zhang Jiaohua was caught off guard—it was a close call that nearly cost him his life.
