A net made of some unknown material suddenly fell from the sky, landing directly over Zhang Jiaohua, trapping him completely. Countless sharp spikes shot in from all directions, sealing off every escape route. It seemed that death was the only thing awaiting Zhang Jiaohua.
But that wasn’t all. Several gunmen around the area began firing at Zhang Jiaohua with automatic rifles. Bullets formed a dense barrage, leaving him no way to dodge or escape—he had no choice but to take them head-on.
A fierce glint flashed in Hua Shaobo’s eyes. “Do you think I’d come face-to-face with you without making thorough preparations? Heh, you’re still too young. You don’t even know what true strength is.”
Suddenly, Hua Shaobo felt a flicker in front of him. He looked closely—underneath the massive iron net, there was nothing. Zhang Jiaohua had vanished!
Hua Shaobo, who had thought he was in complete control, widened his eyes in disbelief.
“Where is he? Where did he go? Didn’t I tell you to make it a one-hit kill? How could you screw this up?” Hua Shaobo grabbed a man in black by the collar and shouted angrily.
“Master Hua, that guy can turn invisible. When he was tracking me before, I tried to lose him by circling around, but he still managed to find his way to you,” the man in black suddenly remembered.
“Find him! Don’t let him escape!” Hua Shaobo knew that if Zhang Jiaohua got away, he’d be in serious trouble.
Hua Shaobo had no idea how Zhang Jiaohua escaped. The gunmen kept firing at the net, but it was all in vain.
“Ah!” A gunman hiding in a concealed spot let out a scream.
“What happened?” Hua Shaobo was startled.
“Master Hua, someone’s been attacked!” one of the black-clothed men reported.
“Be careful, this guy is no ordinary person!” Hua Shaobo began to feel some regret. How could someone who had destroyed the Luo Xian Sect single-handedly be easy to deal with? But now that things had gone this far, there was no turning back. Hua Shaobo had no choice but to push forward.
Since Hua Shaobo made the first move, Zhang Jiaohua wouldn’t hesitate to return the favor. Now that they were enemies, Zhang Jiaohua showed no mercy—every strike was deadly. In mere moments, all of Hua Shaobo’s followers lay motionless on the ground.
With no one left by his side, Hua Shaobo panicked. “Fellow Daoist Zhang, this is all a misunderstanding! Please, let me explain!”
“Hua Shaobo, be honest—what else have you done?” Zhang Jiaohua asked coldly.
Thinking Zhang Jiaohua already knew everything, Hua Shaobo confessed something even worse in his panic. “I sent people to your hometown. I didn’t mean any harm—just wanted to find out your family background…”
That was it—Zhang Jiaohua lost all patience. Hua Shaobo had crossed Zhang Jiaohua’s greatest line. His family was his reverse scale—untouchable. No matter Hua Shaobo’s motives, the moment he targeted Zhang’s family, he had to die.
Zhang Jiaohua revealed himself, pointed at Hua Shaobo, and said coldly, “Very well. Your Xiyun Sect has succeeded in enraging me!” A longsword formed of spiritual energy appeared in Zhang Jiaohua’s hand, floating in the air with its tip aimed directly at Hua Shaobo.
“Fellow Daoist Zhang, please! If you spare me, I’ll immediately call back all my men. You can’t kill me—my father will never forgive you. Our Xiyun Sect is far stronger than it appears. If you kill me, we’ll never stop hunting you down!” Hua Shaobo suddenly raised both hands and threw a handful of talismans at Zhang Jiaohua like they were worthless scraps.
Zhang Jiaohua didn’t dodge. Instead, he threw out a handful of talismans himself.
Boom! The two attacks collided like a TNT explosion. The violent blast almost brought down the entire building.
But Zhang Jiaohua didn’t stop. His spiritual sword, which he had been controlling, gleamed and shot straight at Hua Shaobo.
Hua Shaobo wasn’t weak either. He grabbed a magic weapon he carried and fought back with all his might.
But the spiritual sword under Zhang’s control seemed indestructible. After every clash, it only grew more powerful, not weaker.
“Die!” Zhang Jiaohua freed his hand and unleashed another barrage of talismans. This time, Hua Shaobo was truly out of options. Already struggling to fend off the sword, he had no way to defend against the incoming talisman attack.
A shower of talismans exploded like fireworks over Hua Shaobo. This time, he didn’t get lucky. The relentless assault completely overwhelmed him, and he collapsed to the ground.
Zhang Jiaohua walked slowly toward him, his spiritual sword aimed at Hua Shaobo.
“You can’t kill me! If you do, the Xiyun Sect will never let you go! And the people I sent to Xintian County will kill your parents to avenge me!” Hua Shaobo threatened.
That final threat sealed his fate. If he hadn’t said it, Zhang Jiaohua might have spared him. But Hua Shaobo should never have used his parents as leverage.
“If anything happens to my parents, I’ll slaughter the entire Xiyun Sect in revenge.” With that, Zhang Jiaohua swung his sword—and a head flew high into the air.
Then he activated several fire talismans, reducing Hua Shaobo and his men to ashes without leaving a trace behind.
Zhang Jiaohua quickly called home. As soon as the line connected, he heard Liu Qiaoye’s familiar voice.
“Son, you haven’t called your mom in so long. Have you forgotten I gave birth to you?” Liu Qiaoye chuckled.
“Mom, is everything okay with you and Dad?” Zhang Jiaohua asked.
“We’re fine. Your dad just stepped out. Why, do you miss us? If you do, come home. Silly boy, I told you not to go study so far away, but you wouldn’t listen,” Liu Qiaoye said, her voice beginning to choke up.
“I’m coming home today,” Zhang Jiaohua said, his voice thick with emotion.
“Okay, okay. I’ll ask the office in Beijing to book your flight right away so you can get home quickly,” Liu Qiaoye replied.
“No need. I’ll figure it out myself. The plane only goes to the provincial capital anyway—more trouble than it’s worth,” Zhang Jiaohua said hurriedly.
“How are you going to get home? Flying is faster. Once you get to the provincial capital, the company will send someone to pick you up,” Liu Qiaoye said.
Still, Zhang insisted on making his own way, and Liu Qiaoye had no choice but to agree.
Zhang Jiaohua then called Wu Yuan. “Fatty, I’m heading back home.”
Wu Yuan thought Zhang just felt homesick. “Alright, go if you want. Want me to give you a ride?”
“No need. Once I’m home, I might not return to Beijing for school,” Zhang said.
Now Wu Yuan was truly alarmed. “What? Why aren’t you coming back to school?”
“There are things you wouldn’t understand even if I explained. Just take care of the restaurant,” Zhang replied.
“Jiaohua, what the hell is going on? If you’re in trouble, tell me. I’ll find a way to help. I know a lot of people now,” Wu Yuan said, realizing to his surprise that he was reluctant to see Zhang Jiaohua leave.
