Zhang Jiaohua also saw the swords and blades over there. As a boy, it was hard to resist the allure of weapons—especially swords. Although Zhang Jiaohua was a cultivator, he was still a young man at heart.
He happened to hear the vendor mention the price of the sword. Even though Zhang Jiaohua couldn’t tell whether the sword was of good quality, it did look quite old-fashioned and extraordinary in style.
He reached for his pockets—only to realize he had no money for such a sword. He remembered that his own ancient sword had already been exchanged for alchemy techniques.
Unexpectedly, the two men standing there to buy the sword also didn’t have enough money.
“Fifty thousand? Not that expensive. But we cultivators—who walks around with that much mundane money? How about this—we take the sword now and have someone bring you the money later. How’s that?” Liang Hongkai said, admiring the sword’s craftsmanship, which did seem excellent as the vendor claimed.
“Sorry, I’m in desperate need of money right now. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be selling my treasured collection. I won’t be able to craft weapons of this quality again,” the vendor refused firmly.
“Do you know who I am? I’m from one of the Three Great Holy Lands. Do you think I’d cheat you out of your money? I didn’t bring that much cash because I don’t care for worldly things,” Liang Hongkai said, increasingly agitated.
“Sorry, but I really need the money,” the vendor repeated, shaking his head.
“You believe I won’t kill you like a dog?” Liang Hongkai snarled and pointed his sword directly at the vendor.
“Even if you kill me, without paying, I still won’t sell you the sword!” the vendor replied defiantly.
Someone in the crowd watching spoke up, “I know this guy—he really is from the Weapon Refining Sect. And not just any disciple—he’s Kong Fangzhou, son of the former sect master Kong Jiyuan. I heard that due to years of refining weapons, Kong Jiyuan’s body has deteriorated. He used to suppress the damage with spiritual power, but after the sect’s spiritual spring dried up, there was no way to replenish his strength. The damage overtook him, and now he’s gravely ill. That’s why Kong Fangzhou is urgently selling off the family heirlooms—to save his father.”
“What good will selling off treasures do? No ordinary hospital can treat the hidden injuries of a cultivator.”
Humiliated and enraged, Liang Hongkai shouted, “You really think I won’t kill you?!”
He raised his sword to stab Kong Fangzhou in the chest. Had it landed, Kong would surely have died on the spot.
“Ah!” the crowd gasped in unison, expecting a bloody outcome.
Just then, a stone flew from a nearby rooftop and struck Liang Hongkai on the head. He reflexively raised his sword to block it.
Clang!
The stone hit the blade, sparks flying.
His hand went numb and the sword dropped to the ground.
“Who’s there?!” Liang Hongkai shouted angrily.
He looked up and saw—a monkey.
It was Fat Monkey. He threw several more stones, forcing Liang Hongkai to flee with his arms over his head. But Liang Hongkai wasn’t weak; after dodging a few stones, he shouted, grasped his sword, and slashed toward Fat Monkey.
A flash of sword light shot from the blade toward the monkey.
Sensing danger, Fat Monkey bolted.
The sword light missed, blasting a hole in the rooftop where the monkey had just stood.
“Where are you going!” Liang Yucheng shouted as he chased after the monkey.
The crowd followed.
But once they arrived, the monkey had vanished.
Frustrated, Liang Hongkai and Liang Yucheng lashed out at a nearby house. Under their flashing swords, the building soon collapsed.
The Creek Cloud Sect’s security personnel rushed to the scene. But when they saw that the troublemakers were emissaries from the Three Great Holy Lands, they didn’t know what to do and reported it to Hua Zhaoyang.
Hua Zhaoyang hurried over.
“Sect Master Hua, we were shopping here when someone unleashed a spiritual pet on us. Luckily, our cultivation is deep, so we were unharmed. But this matter must be explained!” Liang Hongkai complained.
“My esteemed guests, I apologize for our poor hospitality, which led to such an offense. I will investigate this matter thoroughly. Once I find the culprit, justice will be done. Please accept these humble gifts as a token of apology,” said Hua Zhaoyang, instructing someone to present several swords.
These swords were the very ones Kong Fangzhou had just been selling—now purchased in full by Hua Zhaoyang and gifted to Liang Hongkai and Liang Yucheng.
Still, the two men remained unsatisfied. Only when Liang Mingjie gave a cold humph did they ease up slightly.
“Though my two foolish brothers were in the wrong, they are still Kunlun Sect disciples. No matter how great their offense, it is our sect’s duty to discipline them—not anyone else’s. Since when did outsiders have the right to lecture Kunlun disciples?” Liang Mingjie said with commanding presence.
Hua Zhaoyang was in a tough spot. “But that spirit beast disappeared. We don’t know who caused the disturbance. I already asked the patrol—apparently, the monkey suddenly appeared and vanished. Where can I even begin to search?”
“No need to trouble yourself, Sect Master Hua. If you can’t find them, I will. Whoever dares offend the Kunlun Sect will be found—and dealt with accordingly. I hope you can forgive me when that time comes,” said Liang Mingjie.
He was furious. He knew full well what kind of people his subordinates were.
Zhang Jiaohua stood quietly in the crowd, having already hidden Fat Monkey in his spatial pouch. There was no way Liang Mingjie would find him.
“Heh… No matter how well you hide, you can’t escape my eyes,” Liang Mingjie said with a mysterious smile.
Zhang Jiaohua thought he’d been exposed and began planning to beat up the three scoundrels if it came to that.
“My two foolish brothers had a conflict with Kong Fangzhou, heir of the Weapon Refining Sect—but with no one else. We just arrived here. We don’t have any enemies. Who would go to such lengths to hurt us? The only person they offended was Kong Fangzhou. The answer lies with him!” Liang Mingjie said, turning his eyes to Kong Fangzhou—not to Zhang Jiaohua.
