Zhang Jiaohua naturally gave the Iron Bull Water to his classmates on the basketball team again, but this time, it was the enhanced version. The water was different — it came from a stream within the Daoist cultivation diagram.
As soon as they drank it, the Class 1 basketball team players howled like wolves and pounced on their defensive opponents like fierce tigers. Zhang Jiaohua directly faced off against Zhang Yusong from the opposing team. Zhang Jiaohua could tell this Zhang Yusong wasn’t ordinary — he had casually sunk several three-pointers during warm-ups.
Yang Jianlong of the Capital Basketball Team inbounded the ball and passed it directly to Zhang Yusong.
Zhang Yusong charged toward the frontcourt. Near the center line, Zhang Jiaohua intercepted him.
Zhang Yusong looked at Zhang Jiaohua with disdain. Zhang Jiaohua’s defensive stance was not at all standard; Zhang Yusong had countless ways to easily exploit his weaknesses. A simple fake move fooled Zhang Jiaohua, as expected. In this regard, Zhang Jiaohua still lacked experience. Although he had played a lot of basketball recently, his opponents were only at a high school level — far inferior to a professional player like Zhang Yusong.
However, what Zhang Yusong didn’t expect was Zhang Jiaohua’s astonishing reaction speed. Even after being tricked by the first move, he recovered almost instantly. When Zhang Yusong was preparing for a three-point shot, Zhang Jiaohua leapt high and snatched the ball out of the air.
After grabbing the ball, Zhang Jiaohua didn’t even think about driving it back to their own half — he immediately launched it into the air, a super long-range shot.
“Damn!” Zhang Yusong couldn’t help but curse. This kid was way too casual, just throwing up a shot like that. His eyes tracked the ball tracing a beautiful arc through the air.
Everyone stopped in their tracks — even the students watching courtside — caught off guard. They hadn’t even finished cheering for Zhang Jiaohua’s clean interception of the pro’s shot when they were now watching the ball.
If the ball hadn’t been flying straight toward the opposing hoop, everyone might have sighed in regret. Such a good opportunity — and to waste it so recklessly?
Zheng Wendong snapped out of it first and rushed forward at full speed.
The Capital team’s players quickly reacted too — scrambling for the rebound!
But after only a few steps, everyone froze — the basketball was faster than any of them. Before they could even get close, the ball swished through the hoop cleanly.
Everyone stared blankly at Zhang Jiaohua. Was this still just luck?
One lucky shot could be explained — maybe even two — but three in a row?
“Still too careless! If I had used a few more fakes, or passed to a teammate, even if he was fast, he wouldn’t have been able to catch up,” Zhang Yusong thought bitterly.
He waved his teammates over and said, “That number 7 is extremely fast, and his long shots are deadly. The others are pretty average. Keep an eye on number 7! And when attacking, avoid him. Don’t underestimate them!”
After a few quick words of warning, Yang Jianlong inbounded the ball again.
He passed it to Zhang Yusong. This time, Zhang Yusong was much more cautious when facing Zhang Jiaohua, throwing multiple fakes to shake him off. After faking a shot and seeing Zhang Jiaohua leap up, he quickly passed the ball to An Hao.
An Hao was being guarded by Zheng Wendong, who was clearly much shorter.
“You’re too green to take me on,” An Hao smirked.
An Hao tried to use his size and strength to bully Zheng Wendong into the paint.
Normally, Zheng Wendong would’ve been easily shoved aside. But today he had drunk the enhanced Iron Bull Water — his body felt as solid as an iron mountain, his strength like that of a buffalo. Even a professional player like An Hao found himself outmatched.
An Hao leaned hard into Zheng Wendong — and it felt like ramming into a wall of steel. A stronger force rebounded back, knocking An Hao off balance and sending him flying horizontally to the floor. The ball popped loose and Zheng Wendong snatched it up.
An Hao raised his hand to complain about a foul, but referee Shen Honggang had seen it clearly: it was clean body contact. In fact, Shen Honggang had initially been upset, thinking An Hao was bullying a high schooler with his strength — but it turned out An Hao got himself wrecked instead! This high schooler’s power was shocking.
Even An Hao’s teammates were stunned. In the pro league, An Hao’s physical advantage was well-known — yet here he was losing to a high schooler! And it wasn’t just one — their class had a super shooter and a powerhouse like an ox!
“Zhang Jiaohua, catch!” Zheng Wendong lobbed the ball high up, trusting Jiaohua to grab it.
Zhang Jiaohua was guarded closely by Zhang Yusong, with Zheng Zhining nearby for backup. They coordinated — one to block, one to intercept.
But Zhang Jiaohua reacted faster, leaping high and securing the ball.
Seeing he couldn’t get the ball, Zheng Zhining resorted to a physical collision.
“Careful!” Zheng Wendong shouted urgently.
Shen Honggang quickly raised his whistle.
Zhang Jiaohua, after grabbing the ball, casually threw it — not a shot, just a toss. At the same time, he felt the heavy impact of Zheng Zhining’s body slam into him. Zhang Jiaohua went airborne but landed lightly on his feet. Meanwhile, the ball banked off the backboard and dropped cleanly into the hoop.
Another score!
The students and teachers watching were dumbfounded. The luck was unbelievable. He had clearly just flung it without even aiming at the backboard — and it still went in!
In less than three minutes, Class 1 had taken a 9–0 lead over a team of professionals. For the Capital Team players, it was like a slap to the face.
One lucky shot could be explained. Two, maybe. But three? That was stretching it.
Zhang Yusong had to warn his teammates again: “These kids are really something. Stop underestimating them.”
Yang Jianlong was frustrated — every time he touched the ball so far had been for a defensive inbound.
“Move the ball faster! Be careful not to get intercepted!” Zhang Yusong shouted.
Yang Jianlong, distracted, passed a weak, sloppy ball — previously no one had pressured the inbounds, so he got careless.
Just as Zhang Yusong moved to receive it and organize the offense, someone yelled behind him, “Watch your back!”
A gust of wind rushed past Zhang Yusong’s ear — Zhang Jiaohua sprinted in, intercepted the ball before it could even stop rolling, and took possession.
Instead of rushing for a simple layup, Zhang Jiaohua dribbled outside the three-point line like he was playing 3-on-3 streetball. Then, without hesitation, he launched a long three-pointer.
No one even tried to block it — they were all too stunned.
From way beyond the arc, a fading jump shot — unless you could fly, you had no chance of contesting it.
Of course, none of the Capital Team players could fly — they could only watch as the ball swooshed into the net again.
Score: 12–0.
This time, the spectators didn’t freeze — led by cheerleader Xu Xiaoting, the whole school erupted in cheers.
“Are these really Capital Basketball Team professionals?” Qi Haoyu nudged He Aiheng beside him.
“Yeah,” He Aiheng scratched his head, “Zhang Yusong even made the national team before.”
“Then how come they’re losing to Class 1?” Qi Haoyu asked in confusion.
“You think Class 1 is weak? Earlier, An Hao tried to bulldoze Zheng Wendong but got bounced away instead. Normally, Zheng Wendong didn’t seem that strong!” He Aiheng was puzzled too.
“Yeah, last time we played them, they all suddenly got stronger too. It’s like we couldn’t stop them at all — especially that number 7’s crazy shooting.” Qi Haoyu murmured, “Did they take something?”
“Even performance enhancers can’t explain a sudden strength boost like that…” He Aiheng smiled bitterly.
Class 1’s completely unreasonable playstyle had utterly bewildered the Capital Team pros.
Zhang Yusong was starting to lose it. He turned and yelled at Yang Jianlong, “What the hell kind of pass was that?! Stop being careless! If we actually lose to a bunch of high schoolers, how do we even show our faces afterward?!”
Yang Jianlong hung his head, mumbling, “I’m more frustrated than anyone. I haven’t even touched the ball properly yet — just inbounding every time.”
Meanwhile, Zheng Wendong and the others walked up and gave Zhang Jiaohua a big thumbs-up.
“Jiaohua, you’re making the Capital Team cry! Your shooting’s freakishly good!” Zheng Wendong grinned.
“Yeah, at first everyone thought it was luck, but after a few in a row, nobody doubts you anymore,” Xu Chuan’an laughed.
“Don’t get cocky,” Zhang Jiaohua warned. “They’re pros. Their skills are way above ours. We caught them off guard, but once they get serious, it’ll be much tougher.”
Sure enough, the Capital Team players shifted gears, finally treating the high schoolers as real opponents.
Wang Peng, who had been dazed ever since Zhang Jiaohua’s first shot, finally snapped out of it. He realized he couldn’t match these pros head-on, so he focused on a more realistic target — Xu Chuan’an instead of Zhang Jiaohua.
