“Jiaohua, aren’t you afraid your parents will worry about you?” Just as they were about to leave, Fu Cha Hao Yue asked again.

“Didn’t you come to Meishan? Aren’t you afraid your parents will worry?” Zhang Jiaohua retorted.

“We’re adults. How could our parents worry?” Fu Cha Hao Yue smiled.

Zhang Jiaohua smiled as well. “As far as my parents are concerned, I’ve already grown up. You guys have been in Meishan for so many days, have you eaten as well as we did today? I don’t worry about food every day.”

At this, no one in Fu Cha Hao Yue’s group dared to speak. Zhang Jiaohua’s displayed abilities had made each of them feel ashamed. If nothing else, their ability to adapt to Meishan was no match for Zhang Jiaohua’s.

“Hao Yue, let him come with us. It’s better than him going with someone else. After all, he’s so young, and if he meets bad people, it could be disastrous.” Zhao Jue said.

“Yeah, we’ll take care of his food and accommodation when we get to the capital. When he gets tired of being out there and wants to go home, we’ll send him back. That should solve it, right?” Wei Jun supported Zhao Jue’s idea.

Wang Xiaobin also agreed. “No matter what, we can’t just leave Jiaohua alone in the mountains.”

Zhang Jiaohua saved Wang Xiaobin’s life, so Wang Xiaobin was naturally very grateful and couldn’t possibly abandon his benefactor.

Liu Jiaying said, “He saved me too. I agree. When we get to the capital, he can stay at my house.”

Wei Jun looked at Liu Jiaying with disdain. “Hey, Liu Jiaying, when did you become so generous?”

“You mind your business. I’m happy to do it!” Liu Jiaying and Wei Jun were always at odds.

“Don’t you think you should ask for my opinion?” Zhang Jiaohua asked impatiently.

“Jiaohua, I’m now seriously asking for your opinion. Would you like to go with us to the capital?” Zhao Jue asked.

“Zhao Jue, stop messing around. Let Jiaohua decide for himself.” He Dongsheng pulled Zhao Jue back. He Dongsheng mainly worried that if they took Zhang Jiaohua to the capital, people might misunderstand and think they were abducting a child.

“Dongsheng, no way, you’re not even on the same side as me?” Wei Jun said discontentedly.

“He Dongsheng, it’s not that I don’t want to take Jiaohua with me, I’m just worried people might misunderstand us as human traffickers. If the police catch us, we won’t be able to explain ourselves,” He Dongsheng said.

“You guys really are something. Always worried about this and that. What’s wrong with you!” Fu Cha Hao Yue said, dissatisfied.

Zhang Jiaohua couldn’t be bothered to listen to their chatter. “Stop nagging. I can go wherever I want. I’m not going to depend on you. Why are you all worried?”

“This kid, how can he talk like that? We’re only worried about you,” Wei Jun laughed.

Zhao Jue quickly said, “Right, let’s just let Jiaohua make the decision.”

“I’ll go to the capital myself. You don’t need to worry about me. Let’s all go our separate ways,” Zhang Jiaohua said. He knew that in the end, these people were still afraid of trouble. Zhang Jiaohua mainly wanted to go far away, and since the capital was so distant, he figured he might as well take a look.

The group took the train back to the capital. When they were getting close, Wei Jun exaggerated and said to Zhang Jiaohua, “Jiaohua, look, we’re almost in the capital. We’re actually close to the outskirts. You’ll soon see our magnificent city.”

But Zhang Jiaohua looked around and felt something was off. The trees along the railway were covered in a thick layer of dust, and it was hard to spot any greenery. It looked like a desert. In the south, it was already summer with vibrant colors everywhere, but the capital was all gray, as if looking at a black-and-white photo.

“Isn’t it magnificent?” Wei Jun said, thinking Zhang Jiaohua would be stunned by the grandeur of the capital.

“It’s ugly. The buildings are so short, and everything is gray. It’s hideous,” Zhang Jiaohua said disdainfully.

“Uh, this is still the outskirts,” Wei Jun scratched his head.

After a while, the train finally arrived at the station.

“Welcome to the capital,” Fu Cha Hao Yue said with a smile.

Zhang Jiaohua smiled, stood up, picked up his small bundle, and followed Fu Cha Hao Yue and the others off the train.

“Jiaohua, now you have to make a choice. Which one of us will you go home with? You have to pick one, and only one. Of course, in a week, you can choose to change,” Wei Jun said.

“Let Jiaohua come back with me. After all, I’m the only one at home. It’ll be more convenient,” Fu Cha Hao Yue said.

Wang said, “Although I’m not alone at home, my parents have always been very supportive of me. If they know Jiaohua saved my life in Meishan and helped us leave, they’ll have no problem with it.”

Liu Jiaying awkwardly said, “You know my situation. I can’t bring him home, but I’ll take care of his meals.”

“Jiaying, forget it. If your parents find out, who knows what trouble they’ll cause. With so many of us, would we really worry about Jiaohua having nowhere to eat?” Zhao Jue said.

Wei Jun nodded. “My family’s fine. There’s no issue with food and accommodation. Let him stay with us!”

Zhao Jue laughed. “If your family’s fine, does that mean mine isn’t?”

He Dongsheng hesitated, not knowing how to help.

Zhang Jiaohua smiled and said, “I told you guys before, I’ll go my own way. I can solve my own food and lodging problems. I won’t trouble any of you.”

Fu Cha Hao Yue grew anxious. “This won’t do. The capital is different from other places. Don’t let them find you and treat you as a vagrant. That would be troublesome.”

“Don’t worry. No one can make me suffer,” Zhang Jiaohua said with a grin. He slung his bag over his shoulder and confidently walked toward the exit.

The street outside was bustling with people, but as Zhang Jiaohua walked through, people automatically cleared a path for him. However, when Fu Cha Hao Yue and the others tried to catch up, they were blocked by the crowd.

“This is bad. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have brought Jiaohua to the capital,” Wei Jun said anxiously.

Fu Cha Hao Yue stood on tiptoe, looking into the distance, but she couldn’t see Zhang Jiaohua anymore.

Zhang Jiaohua didn’t want too much involvement with Zhao Jue and the others. While they weren’t big figures, they still had some background.

Zhang Jiaohua jogged ahead, looking for a place to rent.

If he wanted to experience the world, he first had to get familiar with the capital.
