Even with the low-quality Cultivation Pills, Zhang Guanyu exerted a tremendous effort, beads of sweat forming on his forehead, dripping down. He couldn’t help but complain about Liu Zhaodong, “It’s all that old rascal Liu Zhaodong’s fault. He really thinks pill refining is as easy as making glutinous rice balls. It’s exhausting!”
Zhang Jiaohua walked over and casually pulled the basket of medicinal materials closer to himself.
“When I have time, I’ll teach you how to refine pills. Pill refining isn’t something you can learn overnight. I spent many years learning from my master before I was able to refine Cultivation Pills,” Zhang Guanyu said proudly. He thought to himself, Zhang Jiaohua’s high cultivation level at such a young age must be due to talent, but refining pills isn’t something that can be solved just by talent.
Zhang Jiaohua remained cold and indifferent, ignoring Liu Zhaodong, but his hands didn’t stop. One by one, the medicinal materials turned into different forms in his hands and were thrown into the cauldron. Zhang Jiaohua cast a pill fire technique, and a bright green flame immediately blazed under the cauldron.
“Is that Pill Fire?!” Zhang Guanyu’s eyes widened. Even his master couldn’t summon Pill Fire. This is talent! People can really be infuriating. Zhang Guanyu thought that if he could summon Pill Fire, his Cultivation Pills would definitely be a step up.
Zhang Jiaohua continued to form various seals with his hands, adding the medicinal materials to the cauldron without stopping. In a blink of an eye, all the materials were in the cauldron. A thick medicinal aroma began to slowly waft out.
“This is the real Cultivation Pill!” Zhang Guanyu said, moved. The spiritual energy between heaven and earth is disordered, and cultivators can only slowly absorb the spiritual energy from this disordered energy, a process that is extremely difficult. However, if one masters pill refining, one can extract the purest spiritual energy from plants and animals. Naturally, the speed of cultivation can increase dramatically.
While refining the pill, Zhang Jiaohua’s sea of consciousness also became turbulent. Pill refining is a massive cultivation technique that requires a vast amount of knowledge. Therefore, when refining pills, a large amount of information must be mobilized. Originally chaotic and disordered information seemed to suddenly align into a single line. These organized pieces of information were quickly absorbed by Zhang Jiaohua. After absorbing this information, Zhang Jiaohua’s spiritual sense expanded significantly. If such situations occurred a few more times, Zhang Jiaohua might awaken soon.
The cauldron, which had been releasing white vapor, suddenly ceased releasing it and began to wildly absorb spiritual energy. Suddenly, a strong wind blew through Zhang Guanyu’s dilapidated Taoist temple, causing the door to swing wildly, almost blown away. Zhang Guanyu hurriedly ran over and shut the door.
Boom!
The lid of the cauldron was suddenly blown off by a surge of hot air. Inside, a series of clattering sounds filled the air as the pills inside leaped and danced. They were condensing into shapes without needing any flour!
Zhang Guanyu’s face turned red. He had just been teaching how to refine pills, and now he was being taught a lesson on how to live.
Zhang Jiaohua took a clay bowl and caught the pills that bounced out of the cauldron. Only a few pills remained in the cauldron, along with some pill powder. Pills that couldn’t withstand the pressure in the cauldron would automatically become waste. The pills that bounced out were generally high-grade or even top-grade, while the complete ones left in the cauldron were of medium or low quality, and the powder was naturally waste.
This batch of Cultivation Pills wasn’t as numerous as Zhang Guanyu’s, but in terms of efficacy, just one was far superior.
“This is the Cultivation Pill! This is the Cultivation Pill!” Zhang Guanyu was ecstatic, almost wanting to snatch the batch of pills from Zhang Jiaohua’s hands, but he was no match for Zhang Jiaohua.
Liu Zhaodong watched the pill refining process, though he didn’t understand it, he could tell who was better. Just by smelling the pills from Zhang Jiaohua’s batch, he felt like grabbing one and eating it himself.
Drill Mountain Leopard, Fat Cat, and Chubby Monkey also stared longingly at Zhang Jiaohua. The Chubby Monkey even drooled incessantly.
Zhang Jiaohua took the pills from the clay bowl, not even bothering to look at the medium and low-grade pills left in the cauldron. There were more of those, but their efficacy was much lower.
Zhang Guanyu, though envious of the high-grade pills in Zhang Jiaohua’s hand, was still overjoyed with the medium and low-grade pills in the cauldron. He quickly took a clay bowl and gathered the remaining pills. The leftover waste pills weren’t wasted either. He added some flour and water, mixed them together, and shaped them into small lumps. Their efficacy was no worse than the Cultivation Pills Zhang Guanyu had previously made.
Zhang Jiaohua tossed one Cultivation Pill to each of the Drill Mountain Leopard, Fat Cat, and Chubby Monkey. They immediately devoured them like beans, and once they were done, they lay down and fell asleep, leaving Zhang Guanyu in agony.
Zhang Jiaohua popped one pill into his own mouth, and as soon as it entered, a surge of pure spiritual energy spread throughout his body, most of it rushing toward his sea of consciousness.
As the spiritual energy flooded in, it expanded rapidly in the sea of consciousness. Zhang Jiaohua’s soul, starved for months, instantly devoured the incoming spiritual energy. Without even a burp, the energy from the pill disappeared completely. The Cultivation Pill was still too low-grade, using only common herbs with limited spiritual energy. The effect of one pill was naturally limited.
Zhang Jiaohua ate several more pills, which provided him with more spiritual energy, but it still wasn’t enough. He stuffed the remaining pills into his mouth, and a massive surge of spiritual energy erupted inside him. The energy poured into his sea of consciousness.
Zhang Jiaohua’s soul almost exploded from the influx of energy. He quickly began to consume the excess energy, using it to digest the scattered information in his sea of consciousness. After a brief moment, he had consumed half of the information, finally draining the energy that had almost overwhelmed his soul.
Zhang Jiaohua suddenly opened his eyes, and the world seemed different!
“Where am I?” Zhang Jiaohua asked.
“Where? Oh, you’re awake?” Zhang Guanyu asked in surprise. He had already noticed something was off with Zhang Jiaohua’s condition.
Zhang Jiaohua nodded. “Where am I?”
“This is Meishan! Liu Zhaodong, tell him where this is!” Zhang Guanyu didn’t even know the exact location.
“This is within the jurisdiction of Changfeng County. I’m from Muyun Village, Xiu’an Township, Changfeng County. Where are you from? How did you get here?” Liu Zhaodong asked.
