Xiao Wange didn’t want the child to see those terrifying spirits, so when they entered the door, she tapped Xiao Jinzhou’s forehead. That way, he couldn’t see them anymore.

All Xiao Jinzhou saw was the Shi family members running chaotically inside the circle, each one screaming as if something was chasing and biting them.

He looked at them in shock, then raised his head to ask Xiao Wange:
“Mom, what’s wrong with them? Why are they jumping and shouting like that?”

Xiao Wange swept her gaze over the Shi family. The corner of her lips curved up as she smiled faintly:
“Mm, probably gone mad.”

The Shi family, who were being frantically bitten, heard this: “……”

The master, who was desperately trying to shake off the spirits entangling him, also: “……”

He turned his head toward Xiao Wange. Seeing her standing there so calm and composed, his eyes flickered with surprise.

This house had already been turned into a strange space by the spirits—those inside couldn’t get out, and those outside couldn’t get in. But how did this little village girl get in? And she didn’t seem afraid of the spirits at all. Could it be she really had some ability?

He stared at Xiao Wange for a moment, then asked for help:
“Young lady, please save us. If you rescue us today, I will surely repay your kindness in the future.”

He was also regretting his arrogance. He had thought himself capable of handling the house’s spirits, but ended up entangled as well.

Xiao Wange turned around, shut the door behind her, and cast a spell to set up a barrier. After all, the things inside were fierce spirits—if they got out and harmed innocent passersby, it would be bad.

Just as she closed the door, several black ghostly figures rushed toward her.

They were incredibly fast, far beyond what ordinary people could dodge.

But Xiao Wange simply reached out and struck at them a few times. Instantly, the ghostly figures were scattered, as if her hand were a sharp sword.

The master was dumbfounded. She could destroy spirits just with her bare hands? This little village girl actually had such skill?

Seeing Xiao Wange truly capable, the Shi family also begged her for help.

Shi Xiaohong cried out:
“Comrade, save us! Please, save us!”

Even Madam Shi dropped her pride:
“Little comrade, we beg you, please save us…”

Shi Jinzhu also wanted to plead, but a spirit suddenly bit her arm. The searing pain made her throw her head back and scream.

Shi’s father was also bitten. He didn’t scream, but his pale face showed how much he was hurting.

Xiao Wange gave Madam Shi and the others a cool glance, then turned to Jinzhou:
“Zhaozhao, wait here for me. I’ll go see what’s wrong with the Shi family and why they’ve gone mad.”

Xiao Jinzhou nodded obediently:
“Okay.”

She patted his head and smiled, then quickly walked toward the Shi family.

As she walked, her fingers formed incantations, casting spells against the spirits. Each spell sent ghostly figures scattering into smoke.

Without the spirits, the circle’s barrier collapsed, and the Shi family could come out.

They felt a great relief—they had almost been bitten to death. Those things were truly terrifying.

But the master was still bound by a much stronger spirit than the ones attacking the Shi family.

When it saw Xiao Wange destroy so many lesser spirits in an instant, it let out an enraged shriek before turning into black smoke and rushing at her.

The smoke attacked swiftly and fiercely, like it meant to shred her in a heartbeat.

The master gasped, blurting out:
“Little girl, be careful!”

But Xiao Wange only smiled faintly.

Just as the black smoke neared her, she released a golden spell. The golden light struck the smoke, drawing out a sharp, raspy scream, like a throat seared by fire.

She followed up with another spell—two golden blasts in succession. The smoke let out a furious, unwilling howl, then dispersed completely.

Seeing the black smoke vanish, the master and the Shi family let out heavy sighs of relief.

The master walked up to Xiao Wange:
“All the spirits here are gone now. It should be safe, right?”

This young woman was truly powerful. So young, yet her spells were so advanced.

He realized he had truly underestimated her, thinking she was just a rural girl and mocking her. Who knew she was a far greater adept than him!

The Shi family also came forward. Father Shi wanted to thank and apologize to her, but before he could, Xiao Wange said:
“That was just some small fry. The real one has only just appeared.”

As soon as her words fell, a white figure suddenly burst out of the ground.

It wore long white ancient clothing, with hair trailing on the ground, and dagger-like claws. Worst of all, its face had no features—no eyes, no nose, no mouth.

The Shi family screamed in terror. Even the master stiffened with fear.

Clearly, this was a formidable spirit, hidden all along.

The faceless ghost turned toward them, then darted straight at Xiao Jinzhou, claws reaching out.

The Shi family screamed again: “Aaaaah!”

The master wanted to scream too, but his throat was choked tight.

Xiao Jinzhou frowned in puzzlement. Why were they all screaming at him like that? Was he scary?

The ghost reached him and tried to grab him—yet the moment its claws touched him, black smoke flared as if burned by fire.

The ghost screamed in agony, even without a mouth.

Xiao Wange sneered, formed a spell, and sent a golden light at it. The ghost tried to dodge but was too slow. The blast tore a hole straight through its body.

It looked down at the wound, stunned, then shrieked and charged at Xiao Wange, ghostly energy surging.

The entire house filled with a chilling, oppressive aura. The Shi family huddled in fear, unable to move their feet as if nailed to the floor.

But Xiao Wange only snorted coldly and strode forward. In a flash, she grabbed the ghost by its neck.

Her lips curled in disdain:
“An ugly thing like you dares act arrogant in front of me? Who gave you the courage?”

The ghost tried to claw her but found all its strength bound.

For the first time, it felt terror. Was this little village girl a god in disguise?

“You dared try to harm my Zhaozhao—unforgivable!” she said, and with a twist, snapped its neck.

She tossed the corpse aside, chanted a spell, and the ghost vanished completely.

The Shi family and the master exhaled deeply again.

Shi Jinzhu asked nervously:
“Then… there won’t be any more ghosts now, right?”

She glanced around, afraid another might spring up.

Xiao Wange brushed off her hands like wiping away filth, then looked at her:
“For now, no. But if the formation in this house isn’t broken, more spirits will keep coming.”

“Formation?” Father and Mother Shi gasped:
“What formation?”

Xiao Wange raised a brow:
“This house has a Yin-Gathering Formation. That’s what attracted all these spirits. And besides that, there’s a Wealth-Draining Formation. I imagine you’ve been losing quite a bit of money lately?”

Father Shi clicked his tongue:
“Yes! I’ve lost a lot recently. We have a restaurant in the county—used to do well, but lately, nothing but problems. A customer found a fly in the food, another found rat droppings in soup. We’ve had to pay out a lot. Even worse, some got sick and had to be hospitalized—we covered all the medical costs.”

They had indeed spent huge sums recently.

Mother Shi grew anxious:
“How could our house have such a formation? We’d never do that ourselves!”

If it wasn’t them, then who? Who hated them enough to set up these formations?

Xiao Wange smiled faintly, eyes glinting:
“The ones harming you are quite close to you. Only those close could enter your house to plant them.”

Father and Mother Shi exchanged uneasy looks: Who could it be?

Meanwhile, Xiao Wange brought Jinzhou over, patting his little head:
“First, let’s destroy the formations. If not, more spirits will come, and your money will keep flowing away.”

Shi Xiaohong quickly agreed:
“Yes, yes, let’s get rid of them immediately!”

At her instruction, Shi Jinzhu and Shi Xiaohong fetched two hoes.

Xiao Wange pointed to a flowerbed on the right:
“Dig under that flowerbed.”

Shi Jinzhu glanced at it, nodded, and began digging without asking what lay inside.

Father and Mother Shi followed curiously.

After a dozen strikes, something buried inside was revealed—

Shi Jinzhu screamed in fright, “Ah!”

Father and Mother Shi’s faces also changed instantly.
