Xiao Wange cracked a sunflower seed and popped it into Zhaozhao’s mouth, then glanced at the dark night outside. “Not coming, huh…”
Looking at the deep blackness, she had a strong instinct that the “dad” would definitely come tonight.
She didn’t know why she felt this way—it was as if the night itself was sending her a signal.
Zhaozhao chewed on his sunflower seed while peeling the coating off a candy. “Then I hope he comes soon. If it’s too late, I’m afraid I’ll fall asleep.”
Xiao Wange stroked his little head. “Mhm, he will. Believe me, he’ll be here soon.”
Zhaozhao smiled. “I really want to meet him right now.”
He always felt that the dad in his dreams was a little different from the dad in real life—it was like they were two separate people.
He was very curious about the dream dad as well.
Xiao Wange’s eyes flickered slightly. She, too, wanted to see that person as soon as possible. Her curiosity had been truly piqued.
As the clock approached midnight, Zhaozhao could no longer stay awake and fell asleep heavily in Xiao Wange’s arms.
Holding Zhaozhao’s small body, Xiao Wange used the tongs to stir the charcoal in the brazier and glanced toward the door.
It was this late, and he still hadn’t come… Had her instinct been wrong? Was the “dad” not coming tonight?
Just as she pondered this, the air suddenly turned sharply cold.
The already chilly night seemed to drop several degrees at once, making Xiao Wange shiver violently.
Worried that Zhaozhao would be chilled, she shifted closer to the fire, her eyes sharp as she stared toward the door.
The “dad” had finally arrived.
The night outside seemed even darker, so dense it pressed uncomfortably on the mind.
Xiao Wange furrowed her brows. She held Zhaozhao tightly with one arm while forming a hand seal with the other, ready to launch an attack at any moment.
Three seconds later, a tall black silhouette appeared outside. With it came a familiar aura that drifted into Xiao Wange’s nostrils.
It was Zhan Zeyan’s aura! Strong and concentrated, so vivid it felt as if Zhan Zeyan himself were standing in front of her.
Her brows knitted tighter, her expression darkened.
The black figure finally reached the hall doorway.
Thanks to the dim light in the room, Xiao Wange could finally make out his face.
But once she saw it clearly, she drew in a sharp breath.
Because he looked… exactly like Zhan Zeyan!
At a glance, anyone would think it was him.
But she knew immediately that it wasn’t Zhan Zeyan.
Yet why did this person’s face look identical to Zhan Zeyan’s, and even his aura… was so similar?
The figure stepped into the hall, his eyes on Xiao Wange, and he gave her a faint smile. “Happy New Year.”
Xiao Wange: “……” His tone was casual, as if they were old friends who hadn’t seen each other in a long time.
Her gaze darkened. This was technically their first meeting, and for him to speak in such a familiar tone felt… inappropriate.
Without responding, she fixed her eyes on him and said coldly, “Who are you? Why do you look exactly like my husband? Are you borrowing his appearance?!”
After all, someone with strong magic could change their appearance to mimic someone else. She feared he had used such a spell.
Usually, she could tell when someone used this spell. But him… she couldn’t.
