At around nine in the evening, Mu Bai stepped out of the bathroom, freshly washed. Having woken up at around three or four in the afternoon, he still felt quite awake.
“Let’s take a look inside the Magical Space,” he thought.
Feeling that it had been a few days since he last visited the Magical Space, Mu Bai focused his mind, and in the next moment, he vanished from the living room.
Upon entering, he noticed that the quality of the seven plants and animals in the cultivation and breeding slots had improved significantly. The second batch of saffron flowers was not yet mature, but judging by their progress, they would be ready in two or three days, just in time for an upcoming sale.
After all, one day inside the private plot of the Magical Space equaled forty days in the outside world.
As for the seedlings he had propagated, the Golden Queen, Peony, and Snake Plant saplings were growing robustly. However, more than half of the Great Tang Phoenix Feather and Tianyi Lotus seedlings had died, with only two or three surviving.
The rarest of them all, the Ghost Orchid, had the most seedlings among the three precious plants he attempted to propagate. Yet, its survival rate was the lowest. Out of more than ten seedlings, only one survived, making Mu Bai sigh at how delicate the Ghost Orchid was.
Fortunately, flowers like the Great Tang Phoenix Feather, Tianyi Lotus, and Ghost Orchid were highly valuable. Even if only a few survived, they would yield incredible profits once successfully cultivated.
After checking the seedlings, Mu Bai inspected the rest of the Magical Space. With the growing number of seedlings and the increasing quantity of saffron, his 110-square-meter private plot was beginning to feel cramped.
Mu Bai decided to see how many virtual coins he had left to potentially purchase more space.
He opened his host page to check his resources:
Host: Mu Bai
Magical Space Level: Level 3, with eight cultivation slots and a time flow 40 times faster than the outside world.
Virtual Copper Coins: 26,550
Virtual Silver Coins: 6,800
Warehouse Storage: One Magical Die, 201 drops of Magical Stream Water, and two near-premium Red Dragon Fish.
Cultivation and Breeding Slots: The White Platinum Dragon Fish, Red Golden Dragon Fish, Great Tang Phoenix Feather, Tianyi Lotus, Ghost Orchid, Purple-Gold Peony, and Snake Plant were all undergoing secondary cultivation, leaving one slot empty.
Private Plot: About 100 square meters planted with saffron and 10 square meters with various seedlings.
Daily Online Spending: None today.
To his surprise, Mu Bai realized he had accumulated over 6,000 virtual silver coins. Each square meter of private plot cost 1,000 virtual copper coins or 5 virtual silver coins.
After some thought, he decided to purchase more land. He opened the Magical Store and initiated the purchase.
“Ding! Would you like to confirm spending 3,300 virtual silver coins to buy 660 square meters of private plot space?”
“Confirm,” Mu Bai replied without hesitation. A flash of white light later, the private plot expanded.
The Magical Space itself also grew, now encompassing 770 square meters of private plot space, allowing Mu Bai to plant even more.
He allocated 70 square meters for propagating seedlings and 700 square meters for planting medicinal herbs.
“Alright, that’ll do,” he said, satisfied.
After reorganizing the saffron and seedlings, he spent an hour arranging the new space. Even after evenly distributing everything, there was still plenty of room left, prompting him to consider sourcing rare medicinal herbs the next day.
With that thought, Mu Bai exited the Magical Space and returned to the living room. Checking his phone, he realized it was already past ten.
Still wide awake, Mu Bai logged into QQ and checked his messages for the day. There were updates from Mi Xuan and Hai Qing. Mi Xuan had reported some work matters and expressed concern for him, so Mu Bai replied:
“Thank you for your concern. I’m doing well. Once you have a draft of the contract, make sure to show it to me. And take care of yourself in this cold weather; don’t catch a cold.”
Since Mi Xuan was someone he trusted deeply and had been diligent in her responsibilities, he made sure to express his appreciation.
Next, he read Hai Qing’s message.
Hai Qing: “Mu Hao, do you know Qian God and the Fish Ball League? They visited Xiao Yue and A Wen’s stream yesterday and said they wanted to meet with you.”
Mu Bai frowned slightly as he read the message.
He hadn’t been on Douyu for long, and the name “Qian God” was not familiar to him. However, from past discussions with Hai Qing about Douyu’s guilds and teams, he did recall hearing about Qian God and the Fish Ball League.
Qian God was known as one of the most prominent patrons on Douyu, and the Fish Ball League was a first-rate team, just shy of the top four guilds. It was even rumored that Douyu’s top streamer, Xiao Leng, had connections with them.
Mu Bai wondered why such a powerful team would be interested in meeting him. Still, he wasn’t as anxious as Hai Qing. As a virtual tycoon, it was hard to feel intimidated in the online world.
Moreover, he knew that as his team grew and more side missions were triggered, he would inevitably encounter these major guilds.
This was merely an early encounter. After contemplating briefly, he typed a reply to Hai Qing.
Around 10:30 PM, Hai Qing, who was a night owl, had just started gaming on his computer at his apartment in Longyun City. He was either hunting a boss in Ancient Killing Star or taking others through the Seven Stars quest—all profitable ventures for a savvy game merchant like himself.
Just as he finished slaying a level 163 Heavenly Star and before he could check the loot, a QQ notification chimed. Seeing that it was from Mu Hao, Hai Qing quickly ignored his teammates’ chatter to read the message.
Mu Hao: “Did they mention why they wanted to meet?”
Hai Qing immediately replied: “Mu Hao, I don’t know their exact intentions, but I’m worried it’s not good. Qian God and the Fish Ball League are very powerful in Douyu. You’re on your own, and our Worldly Glamour team is still quite weak, so…”
He trailed off, unsure how much more he should say. He didn’t want to come across as cowardly, but he also didn’t know what Mu Hao was thinking.
A moment later, Mu Hao replied: “What’s this? Are you scared?”
“No way! Mu Hao, ever since you agreed to take in our worthless little team, I, Hai Qing, have entrusted my fate in the streaming world to you. As long as you’re around, I’ll always be your loyal follower!” Hai Qing quickly declared, feeling genuine gratitude mixed with exaggeration.
While there was some embellishment, he sincerely respected Mu Hao for accepting their team. His words were half truth and half flattery.
A couple of minutes later, Mu Hao replied: “Don’t worry, everything will be fine.”
Though simple, Mu Hao’s message calmed Hai Qing’s previously anxious heart. After all, when had Mu Hao ever let anyone down?
He remembered the Godly Showdown from New Year’s, a moment still vivid in his mind. Back then, Mu Hao had faced the powerful Ding Ding Family alone and emerged victorious.
Thinking of this, Hai Qing felt reassured and earnestly replied, “Yes, Mu Hao, I believe in you.”
