OFR – Chapter 75 Confused.

Online Farmer 6 min read 75 of 370 13

The young man, named Hai Qing, was a professional player in an online game called *Wen Dao*. In simple terms, he made a living by playing the game. Whether it was power leveling, farming materials, flipping items, gear, or pets, he was used to running ten accounts simultaneously every day, earning about 10,000 yuan per month.

He also had a regular three-person team, and perhaps thanks to his good luck, the other two members were both women. They played well together in the game, and when they met in real life, Hai Qing found that while his two female teammates weren’t particularly beautiful, they were around a 7.5 out of 10 with makeup on.

Since he frequently hung around live-streaming platforms like YY and Huya, Hai Qing suggested that the three of them could start a streaming team together. The two women would take turns as streamers while he would help promote them and draw in viewers. They’d split any earnings from the streams three ways.

The teammates agreed enthusiastically. After all, earning money while playing games sounded like a great idea. Thus, the three of them worked together as a team for half a year.

They initially started streaming on YY but soon moved to Douyu, naming their group the “Wen Feng Team.” Since *Wen Dao* didn’t have many streamers on Douyu, there was less competition, but it also meant a smaller audience. Even though they had been on Douyu for over two months, their streams wouldn’t have averaged 5,000 viewers if not for Hai Qing throwing in some small gifts to boost numbers.

Because the two women alternated shifts and streamed for long hours, they were able to bring in a decent monthly income—about 20,000 yuan total, which they split evenly. Each of them earned six to seven thousand yuan a month.

However, over the months, Hai Qing became keenly aware of the dark side of the streaming industry, which had become known for requiring heavy spending. It was rare for casual viewers to drop thousands or tens of thousands of yuan on gifts for a streamer. Most fans who spent over 2,000 yuan either had plenty of money and genuinely liked the streamer or were part of a guild with an agenda.

For example, a while back, a king-level viewer privately messaged Hai Qing, saying he could send five rockets, but in exchange, he wanted to meet Hai Qing’s two female teammates in person to have drinks and sing karaoke. His intentions were clear, which infuriated Hai Qing’s teammates, and they flatly refused.

The result? The king-level viewer angrily responded with some unpleasant words and sent five “dark rockets,” which dropped their stream’s popularity by 25,000 points, deducting 2,500 yuan in gifts. This was almost the total income from eight or nine days of streaming.

This experience taught them that the streaming world was a paradise for the wealthy and the powerful. As a streamer, if you wanted to stay in the game, you had to cater to these rich viewers. Small teams like theirs, with barely any reputation, couldn’t even afford to offend a single king-level viewer.

Yet, giving up streaming would mean losing 20,000 yuan in monthly income, which they weren’t willing to do. Hai Qing considered expanding the team by recruiting one or two wealthy individuals, hoping they could increase their monthly earnings.

His two teammates, though experienced in the game and adept at making suggestive jokes, were still conservative. They were only willing to chat with wealthy viewers or take some slightly sexy photos but refused to go further. Hai Qing had no choice but to accept this, especially since they had worked together for over half a year, and even he hadn’t crossed any boundaries with them.

At that moment, Hai Qing glanced at the QQ friend request and accepted it. He typed, “Hi, are you looking to join the streamer fan club or our team?”

After sending the message, he started getting dressed. Soon, the new friend, named Xiao Mu, responded, “I want to join your team.”

“To join our team, you’d need to gift the streamers some presents every month. Of course, we have three streamers, so you can gift your favorite one. If you have any requests after gifting, you can negotiate with the streamers.”

Seeing that it was someone interested in joining the team, Hai Qing became excited. After all, the team was desperate for someone who could gift presents regularly.

After a few seconds, Xiao Mu directly asked, “How much per month?”

“Hmm… 5,000 yuan.”

As soon as he sent that message, Hai Qing regretted it. His teammates only agreed to chat with viewers, and for 5,000 yuan a month, anyone could find someone willing to do much more than chat, maybe even flirt in private.

“I should’ve asked for 3,000 yuan… no, 1,000 yuan,” he thought, regretting his decision. But before he could retract the message, Xiao Mu had already seen it.

However, his awkwardness disappeared when he saw Xiao Mu’s next message: “Okay, give me the room number. I’ll check it out.”

Hai Qing was stunned for a moment, but then his excitement grew.

“Wow! Looks like we’ve got a real high-roller this time! I hope my teammates don’t scare this one away again,” he thought.

He quickly sent the room number to Xiao Mu and messaged his team chat, “There’s a big spender coming to the stream soon, don’t scare them off!”

After sending the messages, Hai Qing logged into his Douyu account and entered the stream to see what kind of high-roller this person was.

Meanwhile, in a nearby apartment in the same city of Jianghai, two young women in their early twenties, both with good figures, sat in front of a computer equipped for streaming. These two were Hai Qing’s teammates: one named Awen, who had a curvaceous figure and was wearing a red outfit, and the other named Xiaoyue, a tall but flat-chested girl dressed in pink. Both were currently streaming a treasure-hunting activity in *Wen Dao*.

In the game, each treasure map cost about one yuan, and while it was rare to strike it rich, treasure-hunting didn’t usually result in big losses either. Most of the money for these treasure maps came from gifts that viewers sent during the stream.

“Haha, we’ve already dug up over 300 treasure maps. Shouldn’t a rare beast spirit pop up soon?”

“Yeah, and if any cute guys want to send us some gifts, we’ll keep on digging. We’ll even throw in a little extra cuteness for you. Meow, meow, meow!”

Awen and Xiaoyue were both joking and acting cute for the camera.

They had seen Hai Qing’s message about the incoming high-roller but didn’t think much of it. After all, Hai Qing had a habit of exaggerating.

Last time, someone gifted over 60 yuan, and Hai Qing spammed the chat with comments like “666! Amazing! This guy’s loaded! Such a big spender, unbelievable!”

While the two women found Hai Qing’s antics amusing, they had grown desensitized to his claims of big spenders.

“I bet Hai’s got another ‘big spender’ coming to throw us 60 bucks again,” one viewer joked in the chat.

“Haha, he’s probably calling in the cavalry with someone who’ll throw a whopping 70 bucks this time,” another teased.

Just as Awen was about to respond with a cute comeback, a bold red notification appeared in the chat: **“Congratulations! Level 73 super VIP user ‘A Bit Cold’ has entered the room!”**

The chat exploded.

“OMG! It’s Cold God!”

“A legend just entered the room!”

“Hai Qing, you’ve done it this time! This guy’s on another level!”
