Mu Bai found the situation both amusing and thoughtful. The system seemed to genuinely have his best interests in mind, even more so than he did himself.

There were many matters Mu Bai wouldn’t have cared about, but the system had already assigned tasks for them. Of course, a large part of this effort was about preserving the dignity of being a “wealthy magnate.”

As he thought about this, he started searching for high-end watch shops in Nanjing City on his phone. It didn’t take long for him to locate a luxury watch store nearby. Without hesitation, he hailed a taxi and headed to the store.

A few minutes later, he arrived at the destination marked on the map. After paying the fare, Mu Bai stepped out and entered the shop, which specialized in selling Vacheron Constantin and Piaget watches.

The shop had a sophisticated and modern interior. Though it wasn’t large—only about a hundred square meters—it had three attendants, offering one-on-one service.

Sure enough, as soon as Mu Bai walked in, a free saleswoman quickly got up, greeted him with a smile, and asked, “Sir, are you here to buy a watch?”

“Yes, I’d like to buy two—one for a lady and one for a man,” Mu Bai replied. Apart from completing the system’s task, he also wanted to buy a gift for Mu Xiaoxiao.

“Are you looking for matching watches for couples? And what price range are you considering?” the saleswoman asked, trying her best to ignore how young this customer looked. However, she couldn’t help but assume he was a wealthy second-generation heir, given the usual clientele.

“No need for a matching set. The women’s watch should be around one million yuan, but the men’s watch needs to be no less than eight million,” Mu Bai answered matter-of-factly.

The saleswoman was already surprised by his age, but hearing his budget for the men’s watch made her freeze momentarily. However, her professionalism quickly kicked in, and she replied, “I’m sorry, sir. We currently don’t have men’s watches in the eight-million-yuan range in stock. We’ll need to order one from the manufacturer. As for women’s watches in the million-yuan range, we have several options. Would you like to take a look first?”

Seeing that the store didn’t have a men’s watch that met the requirement, Mu Bai nodded and said, “Sure. Also, please show me some pictures of men’s watches in the eight-million-yuan range later. I need to purchase one.”

“Of course,” the saleswoman agreed and led him to another display case.

At the Vacheron Constantin section, Mu Bai quickly selected a watch similar in design to Han Mengyun’s, priced similarly. For the men’s watch, he chose a Piaget valued at over 8.6 million yuan.

“Sir, we’ve noted your contact information. Once the Piaget watch arrives, we’ll arrange for someone to deliver it to you personally. As for the deposit for the Piaget and the price of the Vacheron Constantin, the total comes to 2.1 million yuan. Will you be paying by card?” the saleswoman asked.

“Card,” Mu Bai replied casually. Other than paying by card, there didn’t seem to be any other option.

When Mu Bai handed over his card, the saleswoman—despite her effort to remain composed—couldn’t hide a trace of surprise. It was rare to see a customer make such a substantial purchase so casually.

Still, her professionalism kept her reaction brief. She quickly processed the payment and handed him the receipt. Looking at this young, handsome, and evidently wealthy customer, she couldn’t resist smiling and asking, “Sir, would you mind if I add you on WeChat? I can notify you in advance once the Piaget arrives.”

Mu Bai glanced at the sweet-faced saleswoman and, while putting away his card, replied calmly, “No need. My phone number is on the contract. Just call me when the watch arrives.”

Sensing his meaning, a hint of disappointment flashed across her face, but she maintained a professional smile. “Thank you, sir. Have a great day.”

Mu Bai nodded and left the store. He understood the subtext of her request but, having just interacted with someone of Han Mengyun’s caliber, found himself uninterested in the saleswoman, who was merely above average.

After leaving the store, he wasted no time and took a taxi back to his apartment at Shui Mo Lin Ju. Once home, he casually placed the million-yuan Vacheron Constantin watch on the coffee table.

It was already past four in the afternoon, and with the overcast weather, the sky outside was starting to darken. Mu Bai turned on the TV and went to pour himself a cup of hot water.

Just as he sipped the water to soothe his throat, a QQ notification chimed. Checking his phone, he frowned slightly when he saw the sender of the message.

It was Wen Jing, the same person who had left in fear of the “Fish Ball League” the day before.

(Stranger) Wen Jing: Cold Hao, are you there? I’m sorry. I really messed up yesterday. Could you please give me a chance to explain?

In a modest apartment in Guangzhou’s Moyun City, a girl sat nervously in front of her computer, waiting anxiously for a reply to her QQ message.
