Han Mengyun.
She was the first trading partner Mu Bai ever had, and to this day, the most beautiful woman he had encountered—without exception.
Her figure was captivating, the kind that would make any man fantasize, and her face was stunning enough to incite jealousy in any woman. She was undeniably deserving of the title “goddess.”
Every time Mu Bai thought of Han Mengyun, he couldn’t help the stray, inappropriate thoughts that crept into his mind. However, he quickly shook his head, dispelling such thoughts, and turned his attention to the message she had sent him.
“Lonely Keeper of an Empty City” (Han Mengyun):
“Xiao Mu, are you there? We haven’t been in touch for a while. Let’s have a meal together; my treat. I still owe you a proper thank you for selling me those nearly priceless flowers last time.”
Mu Bai pondered for a moment and then agreed.
After all, he had no pressing matters today, and catching up with Han Mengyun seemed like a good way to spend the day.
Upon confirming, Han Mengyun replied with a cheerful voice message:
“I knew my Xiao Mu couldn’t bear to say no to me. Muah! There’s something important I’ll tell you over lunch.”
“Important? What important thing?” Mu Bai asked with a smile, intrigued by her melodious voice.
“Something that absolutely requires you. Let’s save the details for lunch. By the way, do you miss your big sister after all this time?”
“If I say I do, is there any reward for me?”
“Hmm… what kind of reward are you hoping for? Should I wear less when we meet later?”
“…”
“Hmph! Do you think I’m that kind of woman? Fine, I’ll stop being a cheeky driver and return to my quiet, demure persona.”
“Stay cheeky—it suits you better. By the way, where’s the restaurant?”
“Yingbin Lou, top floor, private room No. 3. The room’s already booked.”
“Alright, I’m on my way.”
After wrapping up their brief chat, Mu Bai tidied himself up and headed to the designated meeting spot.
It was the time when kindergartens and primary schools were letting out, so the roads were filled with cars picking up kids, causing a bit of traffic.
A drive that should have taken seven or eight minutes stretched to over ten, but by 11:30 a.m., he arrived at the agreed location: Wangyun Lou.
This was one of Nanjing’s premier hotels, a four- to five-star establishment offering a wide array of amenities: accommodations, disco halls, karaoke, game rooms, gyms, indoor pools, bowling alleys, tennis courts, and saunas.
Its comprehensive facilities and impeccable service made it a favorite among Nanjing’s elite.
Most notably, Wangyun Lou was under the ownership of the Nalan family, a prestigious name that lent the hotel unparalleled cachet.
“Ah, the Nalan Black Card I got last time at the gambling stone event… It’s supposed to grant exclusive privileges at Nalan-owned establishments,” Mu Bai thought, briefly fingering the rarely-used card in his pocket.
However, he decided against flaunting it, figuring there was no need to show off just for a meal.
“Welcome, sir,” a chorus of sweet voices greeted him at the entrance, interrupting his thoughts.
A line of young women dressed in cheongsams bowed politely, their figures graceful and their smiles warm.
Mu Bai glanced at them briefly, nodded slightly in acknowledgment, and walked inside.
At the reception desk, he inquired about the way to the top-floor private room. Upon learning his destination, the receptionist enthusiastically arranged for an attendant to escort him.
Minutes later, Mu Bai stepped into private room No. 3.
Inside, Han Mengyun looked as stunning as ever, seated opposite a middle-aged man whose demeanor suggested he wasn’t a corporate bigwig.
The man’s expression briefly betrayed surprise upon seeing Mu Bai—a young man barely 19 or 20 years old. However, he quickly composed himself, standing alongside Han Mengyun to warmly welcome Mu Bai.
“Xiao Mu, take a seat. We were waiting for you before starting the meal,” Han Mengyun said with a radiant smile.
The middle-aged man retrieved a business card from his pocket and handed it to Mu Bai, his tone respectful:
“Mr. Mu, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve heard so much about you from Ms. Han. Seeing you today, I finally understand the phrase, ‘reputation precedes the person.’”
“You’re too kind,” Mu Bai replied modestly, accepting the card.
Glancing at it, he noted the man’s name was Ren Chenhua, a seasoned professional in the agricultural and aquaculture industries, currently serving as vice president of Baiyun Farms.
After a brief handshake and a polite exchange, Han Mengyun interjected with a smile:
“Alright, Xiao Mu, no need to stand around. Have a seat and see what you’d like to eat.”
As Mu Bai was already hungry, he didn’t hold back, ordering a few of his favorite dishes and asking the server to expedite the preparation.
After Ren Chenhua and Han Mengyun added their orders, the server promptly left, leaving the trio alone in the room.
They made small talk while waiting, but Mu Bai mostly listened, sipping tea.
About ten minutes later, as the dishes began arriving, Han Mengyun finally broached a topic that piqued Mu Bai’s interest.
“Xiao Mu, I really appreciate your help last time. After attending the exhibition and auction, I’ve been considering investing in a farm. Would you be interested in joining as a partner? Of course, it would be a technical partnership—you wouldn’t need to invest any capital. I can secure funding through bank loans.”
Mu Bai set down his chopsticks, raised his gaze to meet hers, and considered the proposal, his interest clearly sparked.
