“Miss Yan, I advise you not to do this. This isn’t a threat—it’s a warning,” Leng Feng said.

But Yan Ling had already made up her mind; she wouldn’t back down halfway.

“Leng Feng, it’s your luck that I’ve taken a liking to you. How am I not worthy of you? In terms of wealth or looks, am I really inferior to your Ding Ying?”

“Yes. You’ll never compare. In my heart, Ding Ying is as beautiful as a goddess. You simply don’t even enter my eyes.”

“As beautiful as a goddess?” Yan Ling froze. Could it be that her guess was right? Could the girl Cui’er mentioned really be Ding Ying?

It seemed Ding Ying had come all the way to Tuoshui County to find Leng Feng.

So the wedding with Leng Feng had to happen immediately. Once the rice is cooked, it can’t be undone—let’s see how he reacts.

Yan Ling loudly ordered the two servants, “Remember, tonight I will marry Master Leng. Prepare everything accordingly—I don’t need to be told again, right?”

“Yes, yes, we understand.”

Without looking back, Yan Ling left.

Meanwhile, Leng Feng was once again carried by the two servants. They struggled as well, dragging him toward the room, saying, “Master Leng, stop resisting. Our Miss likes you, so comply! Become our young master-in-law, enjoy the good life, and you’ll never have to worry about the rest of your life.”

Leng Feng’s stubborn gaze resisted all attempts. “Yan Ling, even if you kill me, I still won’t go.”

Now, he was truly trapped. Normally playful and teasing, Yan Ling would never have imagined she would have someone dragged off like this. He had no chance to resist.

Inside the room, the servants and a few maidens hurriedly brought out the prepared groom’s attire.

“Young Master, quickly put this on,” a young maid said, presenting the clothes.

Leng Feng waved his hand violently, tossing the clothes to the floor. “Go away! Take it all away!”

If it weren’t for his severe injuries, how could he tolerate this?

“Master, please! Put the clothes on, or we won’t be able to explain to Miss.”

“Yes, Master, put them on! Miss will surely be upset otherwise.”

The servants pleaded earnestly. If he refused, all the maids and servants would be punished. But if he put them on, it would be seen as compliance.

He turned away, determined not to wear them.

On the other side, Yan Ling had finished bathing.

Cui’er brought the wedding dress. A red gown adorned with pearls, translucent in red, rich and elegant—like a wedding attire fit for a bride across miles.

In the bronze mirror, she looked delicate and graceful.

The dress transformed her, making her appear like a completely different person—truly beautiful.

Cui’er couldn’t help but praise her. “Miss, you’re stunning! Especially in this red wedding dress—it looks amazing.”

“You flatter me.”

“I don’t lie. Miss, you’re really beautiful. Tonight is the perfect night for a wedding.”

Yan Ling felt delighted. Looking at herself in the mirror, she was like a refined young lady, dressed in red—beautiful, bright, and regal.

As she checked her reflection, she asked, “By the way, how’s Leng Feng?”

Cui’er shook her head. “I don’t know. I’ll go check.”

“Go. No matter what it takes, make sure he wears the clothes.”

“Yes, I’ll go right now.”

Cui’er hurried to Leng Feng’s room. Inside, a group of maids and servants surrounded the bed, speaking encouragingly, yet Leng Feng lay on the bed, unwilling to get up.

Cui’er parted the crowd and saw him still refusing.

One maid exclaimed, “Sister Cui’er, the young master just won’t change. What should we do?”

“What should I do? You ask me? If you can’t handle this properly, Miss will punish all of you.”

“But Master…” the young maid hesitated, looking at Leng Feng.

Cui’er knew the future groom’s nature—stubborn and difficult. If he refused, all the maids and servants would be punished.

She stepped up gently. “Master, please get up. The clothes are ready, and Miss is ready too.”

“None of your business,” Leng Feng coldly said, turning away.

“Master, Miss worked hard to save you, risking much time and energy. Without her, you wouldn’t be lying here safely. The least you can do to repay her is wear the clothes,” Cui’er appealed to his feelings.

Still, Leng Feng ignored her.

Cui’er, though a maid, was firm. With a huff, she stepped back. “Master, I’ve said enough. If you still refuse, we’ll have to carry you there ourselves.”

Leng Feng remained silent.

Cui’er turned to the servant, “Zhang Fu, today is Miss’s wedding. If the groom doesn’t show, you know the consequences, right?”

The servant, pale with fear, quickly said, “Don’t worry, Sister Cui’er. I’ll carry the young master there.”

“That’s good. Then hurry up.”

Cui’er reported back. Yan Ling asked as she re-entered, “Did he agree?”

“Don’t worry, Miss. The young master is dressed now.”

“Really?”

“Of course! He’s marrying you—how could he refuse?” Cui’er knew Zhang Fu would ensure Leng Feng was taken to the bridal chamber.

Yan Ling was in high spirits. Normally, a bride would have her parents, but her parents had passed. She was alone, and despite her wealth, she felt a little pitiful. She sighed.

“What’s wrong, Miss?” Cui’er asked.

“If only my father and mother were here,” Yan Ling said bitterly.

“Miss, I know you’re sad. But today is a day of great joy—you mustn’t be sad!”

Yan Ling realized and quickly wiped her tears, smiling again. “Yes, today is my wedding day. I can’t be sad—it would be unlucky.”

She reapplied her makeup, ready for the bridal chamber ceremony tonight.

The Yan household arranged everything discreetly. No celebratory banners were hung outside, partly because Yan Ling didn’t want to attract attention.

If the girl Cui’er mentioned was Ding Ying, news of the wedding would spread through the city and alert her. Better to be discreet—once the rice is cooked, there’s no turning back.

Cautious yet clever.

Little did she know, Chu Jingcheng and Yin Qingyue had already arrived outside the Yan household late at night.

Yin Qingyue looked at the tall walls and said, “Forget it. Should we just wait for Leng Yi?”

Chu Jingcheng knew her concern. “Don’t worry. Nothing will happen.”

“You’re injured. If we go in and get discovered, we won’t be able to escape.”

“I’m here. Who dares to harm you?” He pulled her close, leapt over the wall, and landed inside the Yan household.

Yin Qingyue nearly lost her balance, but Chu Jingcheng’s hand on her waist steadied her.

“Are you okay?”

They were so close she could see his eyelashes clearly—reminiscent of a quiet morning together they had once shared. Despite different times and places, the feeling was the same.

Realizing it, Yin Qingyue pushed him away. “I’m fine. Let’s focus on the task.”

“Mm.”

Chu Jingcheng’s playful smile vanished, replaced by a serious demeanor. He planned to act swiftly.

Though no wedding banners were displayed, the Yan household was bustling tonight. Many maids and servants hurried about, their tasks unknown.

Hiding behind a fake rock, they waited for the maids to pass.

“If anyone knew King Jing was hiding behind a rock just to avoid some maids, it would make a funny story,” Yin Qingyue whispered, covering her mouth.

Chu Jingcheng chuckled. “If you tell them, I could declare to the world that I was hiding just to…”

“Stop! King Jing’s mouth really never lets anything pass,” Yin Qingyue cut him off.

The maids eventually passed. King Jing held Yin Qingyue’s hand, stepping out from behind the rock. Finding Leng Feng in the vast Yan household was tricky.

“Let’s ask someone,” Chu Jingcheng said.

Just then, a young servant appeared. He grabbed him by the neck, hands firmly locked.

The servant turned red, unable to speak.

Yin Qingyue quickly pulled on his hand. “If you kill him, how will we get information?”

“I know my limits,” Chu Jingcheng said. “If I let you go, don’t shout, or I’ll kill you.”

The servant nodded desperately, and Chu Jingcheng released him.

“Spare me, sir!” the servant knelt.

“I’ll ask you. Has anyone unfamiliar entered the Yan household recently?”

“Unfamiliar? You mean our young master?”

“Young master?” Chu Jingcheng and Yin Qingyue exchanged glances.

Yin Qingyue asked, “What’s your young master’s name?”

Terrified, the servant replied, “Leng Feng… he was saved from the river by Miss. Tonight is Miss and young master’s wedding day.”

A wedding? Yin Qingyue was shocked. Had Leng Feng gone mad? Had he forgotten Ding Ying?

Chu Jingcheng immediately grabbed the servant. “Where is he now?”

The servant pointed. “Over… in the west wing room.”

Afterwards, Chu Jingcheng struck him unconscious to prevent him from alerting anyone.

“Is it really Leng Feng? How could he be marrying Miss Yan? And if this is true… what about Ding Ying?” Yin Qingyue worried, imagining the scene of Leng Feng marrying Yan Ling.
