Zhang Qiao met that dark, stern face and those deep, black eyes head-on.
When Lin Tianyue got serious, he was genuinely intimidating.
In a rough voice, he said, “Zhang Qiao, I’m a straightforward person. I’m not good at guessing what others are thinking. If you think I’ve done something wrong, just say it outright. Only if you say it can we fix it.”
Zhang Qiao paused for a moment, thinking that maybe it was better to talk it through.
She lifted her small face. “Lin Tianyue, then let me ask you—do you like sons or daughters?”
Lin Tianyue answered almost without thinking, “Of course I like sons!”
Zhang Qiao’s heart sank straight down.
Her anger flared even more. Her bright, pretty face flushed red in an instant. “Then what did you say at the hospital that day? Didn’t you say that even if I gave birth to a monkey, you’d still like it?”
Lin Tianyue stared at her in disbelief. “You got mad over this? At the hospital, wasn’t I just seeing you argue with that old woman? If I didn’t side with you, was I supposed to side with someone else? Besides, what’s wrong with having a son? Don’t you like sons?”
“Who can guarantee it’ll definitely be a son? What if it’s a daughter—what, are you going to strangle her to death?”
Lin Tianyue clicked his tongue and let go of Zhang Qiao. “Listen to yourself—no matter what, that’s a human life. How could anyone strangle her? Fine, whatever you give birth to is fine. Getting this angry over such a small thing—is it really worth it?”
He wrapped one arm around Zhang Qiao and walked toward home, completely unable to understand her so-called unreasonable tantrum.
Wasn’t wanting a son perfectly normal?
Everyone liked sons. It was like asking whether you liked money—nonsense, who doesn’t like cash?
“I know you’re pregnant and more prone to getting upset, so I won’t argue with you. But Zhang Qiao, sometimes you need to be more broad-minded. What’s there to be angry about? Whatever you give birth to, I’ll have to raise it anyway. Of course, a boy is best. If it’s a girl… damn—”
He was still trying to lecture her when the inside of his arm suddenly got twisted hard by Zhang Qiao. He hissed in pain, and before he could react, the woman beside him lifted her foot and kicked his calf twice.
“You chauvinistic bastard! Asshole! Stop making excuses—you’re just an old-fashioned, son-preferring fossil! A crude brute! You don’t like daughters, huh? Well, I like daughters! In a year, we’ll live separately—just wait to be a lonely bachelor!”
Lin Tianyue was beaten and kicked out of nowhere. He was a man and couldn’t hit back.
Seeing that she was about to keep hitting him, he panicked and suddenly scooped her up in one swift motion, holding her tightly as he carried her inside. “You’re really getting carried away, aren’t you!”
“Put me down! Mm—”
He had both arms full and no free hands, but she kept shouting. With no other choice, Lin Tianyue bent down and pressed his lips against hers, shutting her mouth so she couldn’t make a sound.
Zhang Qiao never expected that even now, he’d still dare to take advantage of her.
Furious, she opened her pearly teeth and bit down on the tip of his tongue.
Instead of backing off, he went even further, pushing in and sealing her lips and tongue even more tightly.
Now Zhang Qiao had no room to resist at all. She could only make muffled sounds of anger in her throat, even more worried that the three kids might see them once they entered the courtyard.
Her worry was completely unnecessary. The three kids were all in their own rooms and hadn’t noticed anything outside.
Not until Lin Tianyue kicked open the bedroom door and put her down on the double bed with the pink mosquito net.
He finally released her lips, but afraid she’d struggle again, his strong arms still pinned down her arms as he pressed over her from above.
“Lin Tianyue…”
“If you’re not afraid of the kids hearing you, then go ahead—yell as loud as you want!”
His presence was overwhelming, his dark eyes locking her down as if he was about to swallow her whole the next second.
He tasted blood on his lips and tilted his head, wiping it wickedly against his arm. His breath was scorching, his chest rising and falling.
Pain shot from his tongue. He frowned and pressed his lips together, making the pain even sharper.
Damn it—she really was ruthless.
Still, he had to admit: when a small woman went all-out like this, it was oddly thrilling. It stirred something different in the leopard-like man before her.
Perfectly to his taste.
At this moment, he was only loosely straddling her. If it weren’t for the fact that she was pregnant, he really would’ve—
“Bastard, let go!”
Zhang Qiao felt like she was nailed firmly to the bed. She turned her head to bite his wrist but missed.
Just as she tried to struggle again, the man above her let out a low growl. “Stop moving! If you move again… I’ll deal with you.”
Zhang Qiao didn’t know what exactly he meant by “deal with,” but those flame-like eyes made the danger unmistakably clear.
Ugh. Being physically overpowered was just hateful. She only regretted not having three heads and six arms so she could give him a solid slap.
“Go on, then—do it! Who’s afraid of who?” Unable to break free, Zhang Qiao could only fight back with words.
Her provocative gaze—three parts fierce, seven parts seductive—only made Lin Tianyue even more fired up.
He stared at her and ground his teeth. “Are you even a woman?”
“Don’t you know whether I am or not? Or are you just talking big with no real ability at all?”
That one sentence made Lin Tianyue swallow hard again. As they struggled, two buttons on her blouse came undone. Beneath her graceful swan-like neck, a patch of snowy skin was faintly visible, making the veins on his forehead throb violently.
He really wanted to throw caution to the wind and punish her properly—otherwise, wouldn’t her words come true?
In the end, reason still won out.
Lin Tianyue suddenly rolled off her, shoved her inward, and lay down right beside her.
“Zhang Qiao, I’m just good-tempered—not temperless. Don’t push it!”
He propped his hand under his head and warned her in a low, muffled voice.
He closed his eyes, trying not to think about all those messy images. But his chest was still rising rapidly, and for once, he didn’t want to go sleep on that simple little bed like usual.
This was his home. She was his wife. Why should he sleep on the small bed?
He wasn’t moving.
Zhang Qiao was squeezed tight against the wall. She jabbed her elbow into him hard, but he didn’t budge at all. Her eyes turned red with anger.
What? He still had the nerve to call himself good-tempered?
This man clearly had a terrible temper—chauvinistic, domineering, and now add one more: blatant son preference.
Ahhh! She was about to explode!
“It’s too crowded—you’re squeezing the baby!” Zhang Qiao shouted angrily after holding it in for a long time.
Finally, the damned man shifted a bit, giving her half a person’s worth of space.
Zhang Qiao quickly claimed it, glaring at him as he pretended to sleep. “Still crowded!”
