Zhang Qiao really didn’t dare move anymore, because he had left her no room to squirm.

He was holding her up, effectively circling her in his arms. If she so much as shifted a little, her head would bump straight into his chest.

Zhang Qiao’s thoughts were like wild weeds—messy and tangled.

Thankfully, Lin Tianyue didn’t go too far.

He simply held her with one arm while the other hand moved in gentle circles, softly rubbing her lower abdomen.

“How does the pressure feel?” he asked, his voice hot against her ear.

His palm was scorching, his breathing a little heavy. At that moment, Zhang Qiao felt like he was a dangerous leopard.

And yet… he hadn’t actually done anything.

“Barely okay,” she muttered.

He was about to increase the pressure when Zhang Qiao nervously grabbed his wrist. “Lighter. Don’t hurt the baby.”

Sure enough, he immediately eased up.

“Does it still hurt?” He looked at her, dark eyes glowing like molten lava beneath the surface.

“Much better.”

Hearing that, Lin Tianyue withdrew his hand—but his gaze stayed locked on her, intense enough to make her heart flutter uneasily.

“Zhang Qiao, no matter how capable anyone else is, it doesn’t matter. I’m your man.”

The words were downright domineering.

Zhang Qiao’s heart tightened. She was just about to snap back at him when suddenly his slightly full lips came down, pressing hard against hers in a crushing kiss.

“Mmm—”

Fireworks exploded in Zhang Qiao’s head.

Damn it—this was her first kiss!

Ahhhhh! How did this big, rough brute suddenly kiss her?!

What did he even mean by that?!

But… she had to admit—his lips, just a little plush, were really good to kiss.

So soft.

Carrying a faint taste of alcohol, they brushed against her lips first, then forcefully pried open her teeth…

At such close range, his tall, solid body loomed over her like a mountain, completely enveloping her.

Zhang Qiao had no room to resist at all. Her breath was filled with his scent and his unmistakable, unyielding dominance.

Mindful of her condition, he kissed her for less than a minute before letting go.

Lowering his head, he looked down at her flushed, captivating little face, then lightly tapped her glistening lips with his index finger.

“Dry your hair and go to bed early.”

As he stood up, his large hand slid down along her smooth thigh and calf, even giving her soft, boneless foot a squeeze.

By the time he lowered the mosquito net and tucked it in properly, Zhang Qiao’s mind was still bursting with fireworks—brilliant yet foggy, completely dazed.

He picked up her change of clothes and went out, closing the door for her on the way.

When the door clicked shut, Zhang Qiao finally snapped back to her senses.

Holy crap!

Her first kiss was just… gone like that?!

They’d clearly been talking about another man—how did things suddenly turn out like this?

The atmosphere had gotten ambiguous ever since she pretended to have a stomachache.

Could it be that he thought she was seducing him?

That sly man… looks like when it comes to this stuff, all men climb the pole the moment you give them a chance—cunning as hell!

In the blink of an eye, five or six days passed, and the jars of pickled cabbage Zhang Qiao had made were almost fully fermented.

That afternoon, Lin Tianyue happened to be free, so she had him go to the village they’d arranged with earlier to pick up the fish.

It was their first attempt, so Zhang Qiao didn’t want to be greedy—just one pot as a trial run.

Once the fish were back, she sat to the side cracking sunflower seeds, fanning herself with a palm fan, casually admiring Lin Tianyue working shirtless—killing the fish and slicing it.

A man focused on his work was the most attractive kind, and on top of that, his body was seriously easy on the eyes.

There wasn’t any TV in this era anyway, so all Zhang Qiao could do was admire a handsome man to cultivate her mood.

Ever since that kiss, Lin Tianyue had behaved himself for the next few days—probably mindful of her pregnancy and not daring to mess around.

Good thing he didn’t. Otherwise, with his solid, burly build, ten of her wouldn’t be enough to fight him off.

The fish slices were cut thin and even, filling an entire basin.

The next day, Lin Tianyue got up early and, together with Zhang Qiao, cooked the pot of pickled cabbage fish.

This time, she tweaked the method a little—added more pickled cabbage, some glass noodles, and more broth.

She’d discussed it with Yingzi. If they made it like last time—lots of fish, little cabbage—the cost would be high and so would the price. But Yingzi mainly ran a breakfast business, and customers came for something affordable.

So the two of them decided on pickled cabbage fish noodles.

A bowl full of broth with greens and fish slices poured over noodles—sour, spicy, and super appetizing. This way they could lower the cost and sell each bowl for twenty cents, a price most people could accept.

Just as the fish was done, Chen Gang arrived on his three-wheeler.

Zhang Qiao happened to be boiling noodles, so she served him a bowl too and had him eat breakfast there.

The topping was the pickled cabbage fish they’d just made that morning.

The whole family gathered around the table, sweating as they ate. It was a bit spicy, but the three little ones still polished off every last bite, looking like they wished they could chew up the bowls too.

“Chen Gang, what do you think?” Zhang Qiao asked expectantly.

Chen Gang set down his bowl, burped several times in a row, completely speechless, and only gave her a big thumbs-up.

Zhang Qiao felt even more confident. She watched Lin Tianyue and Chen Gang lift the bucket of pickled cabbage fish onto the tricycle and secure it carefully.

It was still early—getting to the market now would be perfect timing.

Chen Gang excitedly started doing the math. “This bucket’s got at least a hundred bowls. Twenty cents a bowl—that’s twenty yuan. If we sell two hundred bowls, that’s forty yuan…”

Seeing how hopeless he looked, Lin Tianyue couldn’t help but knock him down a peg. “Why don’t you sell eight hundred bowls while you’re at it—trying to work me to death? Instead of running a factory properly with me, you insist on making these scraps. Since when did your vision get as short as a woman’s?”

Chen Gang snorted. “Yingzi insists on doing it—she’s got a strong personality. What can I do? I’m not like you, already got your wife locked down. Besides, sister-in-law’s great now. Way better than back then when she cried, made scenes, and threatened suicide just to get money from you. Brother Yue, you should be content.”

Lin Tianyue gave a low laugh. “What do you know? You think business is that easy? I’m worried you won’t sell it all, then get worked up over these few cents!”

They thought it was a private discussion—but Zhang Qiao overheard them from behind.

Heh… see that? The big brute really looks down on these few cents.

Zhang Qiao cleared her throat lightly. Lin Tianyue jumped, and as he turned around, he even shot Chen Gang a glare, like he was blaming him for not warning him.

“Lin Tianyue, who pours cold water on themselves before even opening for business? And don’t forget—you started out with a street stall too. Now you’re looking down on us?”

Zhang Qiao puffed out her cheeks, clearly unhappy with his discouraging words.

Unfortunately, Lin Tianyue was as blunt as they came and didn’t know how to sweet-talk her at all. “What cold water? I’m just kindly reminding you not to think small business is too simple. Otherwise, everyone would be setting up stalls and becoming ten-thousand-yuan households!”

Chen Gang immediately sensed trouble and secretly tugged at Lin Tianyue’s clothes.
