“Aiyo, damn it!”

Zhang Song suddenly felt attacked from all sides, a vicious kick hitting him from behind.

The kick was so strong that it sent him flying several meters.

He tumbled, shovel in hand, crashing against the wall by the main gate, then bounced back. He fell to the ground, groaning, unable to get up for quite a while.

Lin Tianyue’s imposing figure loomed like a mountain in front of him, casting a dark, threatening shadow that made his blood run cold.

One foot stomped hard onto Zhang Song’s stomach. Lin Tianyue’s dark eyes were cold as a knife, terrifying Zhang Song to the point that his scalp tingled.

“Li… Lin Tianyue… no, sis… brother-in-law… spare me!”

“Who the hell is your brother-in-law! I’m not some loser little brother-in-law like you!”

Clenching his fists, Lin Tianyue kicked him again.

Zhang Song screamed like a pig being slaughtered, feeling as if his ribs were about to break.

But it wasn’t over. Lin Tianyue grabbed him by the collar, yanked him up, and delivered a heavy punch. Blood spilled from Zhang Song’s mouth, his throat made a gurgling sound, and he couldn’t even scream in pain anymore.

Zhang Qiao peered through the door and saw everything. She confirmed once and for all—Lin Tianyue was really back.

Clutching a stick, her nose tingling and eyes stinging, she was nearly crying tears of joy.

She slammed the door open and swung the stick at Zhang Song.

“You bastard! I’ve let you get away with nonsense! I’ve let you act tough, I’ve let you demand money from me! How much have you sucked from me since you were a kid? I was raising you! And you’re ungrateful, and still dare to boss me around? Did Liang Jingru give you the courage? If you dare provoke me again, I’ll break your legs!”

Zhang Qiao swung harder and harder, relishing it, wanting to release all the frustration she had suffered from the original body all at once.

She yelled while hitting, causing quite a commotion in the yard. Soon, the three little ones playing outside heard the noise and ran back in a rush.

They saw Lin Tianyue’s fierce expression, assumed their father was being bullied, and pounced, kicking the man who was covering his face and head on the ground.

Shouting, “Don’t bully my dad!”

“Beat you to death! Beat you, you bad man!”

Lin Tianyue was stunned by the scene. He had rescued his sons and cared for them; he could understand wanting to protect him. But Zhang Qiao had always cherished her brother—how could she really hit someone?

And yet now, the whole family was united against an outsider.

Somehow… he felt a little touched.

Seeing that continuing this fight would surely lead to trouble, Lin Tianyue finally pulled Zhang Qiao away.

“Enough, that’s enough!”

Continuing would get them in legal trouble!

Zhang Qiao, still flushed and fuming, threw down her stick, pointing at the bruised and battered Zhang Song on the ground. She shouted, “Get out of here!”

Her loud voice made the three little ones shiver.

Zhang Song’s soul seemed to have flown out of him. He barely managed to get up after multiple attempts, lacking even the courage to glance back.

What he had just experienced was the scariest moment of his life.

Being savagely beaten by Lin Tianyue was one thing, but his sister had attacked him too, and even the three little ones…

He used to be a tyrant at school—how could he ever survive now?

A breeze blew, carrying the aroma of cooking from the kitchen.

It seemed as if everything returned to calm, except for Zhang Qiao, hand on her lower abdomen, still shaken by what had just happened.

“You okay?”

Lin Tianyue saw her pale face and her hand on her stomach, worry gripping his heart.

Zhang Qiao shook her head, thinking how lucky it was that he had returned in time.

She hadn’t missed a single exciting moment through the door. The way this man disciplined someone was… just so manly.

She almost swooned.

Seeing her dazed, Lin Tianyue couldn’t help but laugh.

Startled, Zhang Qiao snapped out of it. “Why are you laughing?”

He recalled her earlier scolding: “I don’t know who said it today, but if you can argue, don’t resort to fighting. So, you didn’t win the argument, and now you hit him?”

Zhang Qiao didn’t expect him to be here waiting.

She was momentarily speechless, raising her almond-shaped eyes to glare at him. “I was disciplining a scoundrel—how is that the same as you?”

Just as she was about to enter the kitchen, a rough hand grabbed her arm.

“Not feeling well? Then go rest inside.”

Another waft of delicious aroma mixed with dough reached them. Lin Tianyue sniffed sharply.

“What did you make that smells so good?”

Already drooling, Lin Jin exclaimed loudly, “Dad! Big meat buns! Fox… Aunt said, pork ribs with green beans filling!”

Pork ribs with green beans?

Lin Tianyue thought: what kind of combination is that? Never heard of it.

Seeing his curiosity, Zhang Qiao explained, “The buns are already steaming. Ten more minutes, they’ll be ready.”

Lin Tianyue nodded. “I’ll handle it. You go rest. All the fuss, don’t stir up the baby.”

He glared at the three little ones. “And you three, fighting—stop causing trouble. Make yourselves look better!”

Eldest Lin Xun: “We just didn’t want you to get hurt.”

Second Lin Ran: “Dad, you told us to protect Auntie and the baby when you weren’t home. So when we heard the noise, we ran back as fast as we could. Luckily, nothing serious happened.”

Youngest Lin Jin pouted at his second brother: “I was the first to rush home…”

Second brother elbowed him and gestured wildly.

Third brother didn’t understand and sulked, “I was first, big brother was second, you were third… hey, why are you pinching me?”

Zhang Qiao laughed, patting the youngest’s messy hair. “Alright, everyone behaved well today. You get plenty of meat buns tonight, and each of you gets five candies as a reward!”

Before Lin Tianyue could say anything, she turned to her room, reminding, “Once the buns are ready, make some soup too, so you don’t choke.”

Once everyone left, the second and third cheered for their candies. Eldest Lin Xun stayed beside Lin Tianyue, thinking, then asked, “Dad, who is Liang Jingru? Why is she so brave?”

Lin Tianyue blinked: “How would I know?”

Lin Xun scratched his head, deep in thought again.

Soon, the meat buns were ready.

The family gathered around the table. Perhaps because they had just fought off the “bad guy” together, the dinner atmosphere was unusually harmonious.

Not fully chatting yet, but at least no one was scowling.

They all tried pork ribs with green beans filling for the first time. The meat juice from the previous stew had soaked into the dough, the chunks of rib meat were tender and flavorful, perfectly marbled, with a lingering savory taste, even the beans rich with meaty aroma.

Second and third ate enthusiastically, praising the taste. Eldest and Lin Tianyue said nothing, but Zhang Qiao could tell—they were extremely satisfied.

She had steamed twenty-five buns in total. She had planned to save some for breakfast, but she ate two, leaving the rest for the four men.

Half-grown kids could really eat a father out of house and home. Three boys in the family—she felt Lin Tianyue must be under immense pressure.

If they didn’t have money, how would this setup even work?
