LOT – Chapter 65 Lin Mo Races Home in the Dead of Night Just to Catch Some Drama

Lin Mo now really wished she could just run straight home to catch the drama unfolding.

As expected, the juiciest gossip was always in the capital. She wanted to see for herself what kind of guy that eunuch Li’s son was—he must be pretty good-looking if a noble lady was willing to elope with him! He couldn’t possibly be average-looking, right?

Lin Mo sighed and said to the system: [Hey, what do you think about sneaking back home tonight? There shouldn’t be any real danger, right?]

System: [Relax, relax! Even if there is danger, you’ve got me. What could you possibly be afraid of with me around?]

And just like that, girl and system seriously started planning how to sneak back home that very night.

Minister Lin was so exasperated his temples were throbbing. Why was his hand suddenly itching again? That girl really needed a spanking!

Even Emperor Xuande and the others were tempted to return. What was so fun about hunting, anyway? Nothing could compare to a hot piece of gossip.

(Formerly: “Hunting is the best! Staying in the palace all day is boring. The capital gets dull after a while, too.”)

Duke Zheng was feeling… a whole mess of emotions, none of which he could put into words.

His youngest daughter wanted to elope with someone! She wasn’t even marrying him as a proper wife—just running off to be a concubine! Throwing her noble status away like that—was everything they taught her since childhood all for nothing?

If that man truly cared for her, he wouldn’t let her elope with him!

It wasn’t like Duke Zheng looked down on commoners. Even if the guy came from an ordinary background, that was fine—as long as his character was clean, he had real skills, and could afford to provide for his daughter!

His second daughter had ended up with the son of a restaurant owner.

Though he hadn’t been thrilled about it at first, she was determined. After investigating, he found the man’s morals and conduct were solid. So, he didn’t try to break them up.

He just told her to think it through. If she chose that path, she’d have to live with the consequences—even if life got hard, she had to stick it out. It was her decision.

Now the two of them lived happily together. The restaurant owner’s son wasn’t particularly educated, but he treated his daughter well—and his two grandkids too.

But as for this youngest daughter… what the hell had that Li Minggen fed her to make her so set on eloping with him?!

Eunuch Li kept sneaking glances at Duke Zheng, wanting to speak but unsure how to even start.

Whatever the case, the two of them would have to return to the capital eventually. But no matter what, they couldn’t leave until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, that night—at midnight—Lin Mo sat in her wheelchair, hitched up to two pigs, and set off.

[Hahahaha! Back to the capital! I must catch this juicy gossip—how could I miss out on something this good?!]

[System! Set the GPS—by dawn, we must reach the capital!]

The system whooped: [Navigation ready! Let’s gooo—time to catch the drama!]

The people secretly watching them from the shadows: “…”

They seriously didn’t expect that girl and her system to actually set off tonight. They really were the kind to act on impulse the second a thought popped into their heads!

Minister Lin’s brain was throbbing now. Would it have killed her to just wait until morning?! One more night—what difference would it have made?!

Emperor Xuande glanced at that troublesome girl’s retreating figure, then at the grim-faced Minister Lin. He sighed and offered comfort, “Don’t worry, don’t worry. With that system of hers, your girl won’t run into any real danger. We’ll leave together in the morning.”

Lin Mo, oblivious to their feelings, was having the time of her life riding behind her two pigs.

After two days of practice, she could drive them like a pro—even handle obstacles.

And credit where it’s due, Prince Xin’s wheelchair really was top-notch—light, convenient, durable… no wonder he didn’t want to give it to her.

(Prince Xin: “…I didn’t want to give it to you because then I wouldn’t have one! Can you please try to understand the actual point?!”)

Under the system’s guidance, Lin Mo and her two pigs reached the capital just as the sun rose.

The moment she entered the city, she became the brightest sight in town.

“Whose daughter is that? Why is she driving two pigs?”

“Is this some new rich-girl trend—pig carts?”

“Aren’t those pigs different breeds? One looks like a domestic pig, the other’s a wild one. How’d she get them to work together?”

Listening to the townsfolk whispering, Lin Mo grinned, showing a row of pearly whites.

As expected—back in the capital, she was once again the star of the show! She was the coolest gal in the city!

Lin Ran and Lin Qi had gone out to buy ink and paper—Lin Qi’s exam was coming up soon—when they spotted a familiar figure.

Lin Ran rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating, then quickly nudged her older brother. “Look! Isn’t that Mo’er? I thought she went hunting with Father? Why’s she back?!”

Lin Qi stared at Lin Mo—sitting in a wheelchair, driving two pigs—and his face froze for a moment.

What kind of ridiculous scene is this?! She left riding one pig—how did she come back with an extra pig and a wheelchair?!

“What nonsense is that girl up to now?! Don’t tell me she came back overnight!”

Lin Mo spotted their carriage and quickly raced her pigs over.

“Big Brother! Big Sister! I’m back!”

Seeing their disaster-prone little sister, Lin Qi and Lin Ran simultaneously shut their eyes. They couldn’t even look at her.

“You were supposed to be at the hunting grounds! Why are you back so early? Don’t tell me you actually traveled through the night?!”

Lin Mo giggled proudly. “Yep! Brave of me, huh?”

Lin Ran smacked her across the head. “Brave my ass! You came back alone in the middle of the night—what if something happened to you?! Does Father know about this?!”

Lin Mo rubbed the back of her head. Didn’t hurt—it was like getting tickled.

“Relax, I left Dad a note. He’ll see it and know I came back. You guys are heading out, right? I won’t keep you. I’m gonna go home and catch up on sleep.”

She gave her rake-wielding pig a pat on the butt and wheeled herself toward home, leaving Lin Qi and Lin Ran behind: “…”

The next morning, when Minister Lin came to help pack up Lin Mo’s things, he found the note she’d left.

[Dad! I went home first! Don’t worry about me!]

Reading the one-liner, Minister Lin sighed helplessly.

So exasperating! Good thing he knew she had that system—otherwise, this note would’ve scared and infuriated him to death.

As soon as Lin Mo got home, she flopped into bed and started snoring like a chainsaw. Lady Lin originally planned to wake her up for breakfast, but after hearing her power-drill-level snores, she quietly shut her mouth.

Tch! How can a young lady snore that loud?!

After Lady Lin left, Lin Mo—face dark—dragged the two pigs out.

“You two find your own place to sleep! How can your snoring be even louder than mine?!”

Actually, Lin Mo wasn’t the one snoring at all.

It was the pigs.

But really, who could blame them—like master, like pig.
