LOT -Chapter 254 Studying? Impossible!

Let All the Officials Hear My Thoughts; I’m Just Going to Slack off and Watch the Drama5 min read254 of 343

Hearing the commotion growing louder, the couple finally stood up.

The moment they opened the door, a pillow came flying toward them. Minister Lin caught it smoothly and walked inside.

The bed was an absolute disaster. The two people on it were tangled together, each grabbing the other, faces twisted ferociously.

Bai Xiao was no longer shorter than Minister Lin—he was now a young man—and he was fighting evenly with the little shorty Lin Mo. No one knew how the fight even started.

When Lin Mo saw her father, it was like seeing a savior. “Dad! Hurry and come fix him!”

Bai Xiao also looked pitiful and said, “Uncle, it’s Mo Mo bullying me!”

Both insisted the other was at fault, but when asked what they were fighting about, neither would say a word.

Minister Lin simply sat down and watched silently. Only when the two fought until they were tired did they finally settle down.

“Now can you tell me why you were fighting? You’re both so grown, yet still fighting like children.”

Lin Mo angrily said, “He said he’s more educated than me! Dad, tell me—is that even possible?!”

“I might not have read many proper books, but I’ve read plenty of the other kinds! And I’ve experienced more things than him, so I definitely have more knowledge and culture!”

Bai Xiao retorted, “Who says that?! I’m more cultured! I know astronomy, geography, and I can tell fortunes!”

The two were about to start arguing again when Minister Lin covered one mouth with each hand—manually muting them.

He placed two sheets of paper on the table. “Enough. Words mean nothing—show me. Each of you will write an essay or compose a poem. I’ll judge who is more cultured.”

The moment he said that, both fell instantly silent.

Lin Mo gave an awkward smile and immediately tried bargaining. “Dad… how about we don’t write poems or essays? I can write a story! My stories are great!”

Bai Xiao chimed in, “Yes yes yes, I can write stories too! Whether it’s romance or horror, I can do it!”

Minister Lin: …Good grief. Two halfwits arguing about who’s more cultured.

“With the two of you like this, you dare call yourselves cultured? Go to sleep! If you want to gain culture, I’ll invite a teacher to teach you tomorrow.”

At those words, both their faces changed dramatically.

Absolutely not!

They had finally escaped daily lessons—how could they bring a teacher back into their lives?! That would be pure torture!

Lin Mo immediately dove into bed and pulled up the blanket. “I’m sleeping! I’m sleeping! Dad, there’s no need to bring a teacher. Wouldn’t that waste their time? We can self-study!”

Bai Xiao quickly thumped his chest in agreement. “Yes yes, Uncle, we’ll self-study! No need to trouble a teacher!”

Seeing their panicked expressions, Minister Lin sneered inwardly and walked out.

Heh. These two actually think they can outsmart him? Go to sleep!

Bai Xiao pretended to return to his room with him, but not long after, he climbed through the window again.

Minister Lin pretended not to notice. Bai Xiao secretly rejoiced: My window-climbing skills have really improved.

Minister Lin: …

Sometimes he really wanted to expose them—or just marry them off already. It would at least stop all this daily chaos.

After so much trouble, he felt equal parts exasperated and amused.

Maybe because they were afraid he would really hire a teacher, the two of them secretly slipped out early the next morning before dawn.

“Is it really okay for us to sneak out like this? What if my dad wakes up and doesn’t find me?” Lin Mo asked nervously.

Bai Xiao flicked her forehead. “Do you want a teacher standing over you while you study?”

The two exchanged a look and sighed. Life was too hard. Why were people always trying to force them to study?

There are geniuses and slackers in this world. They were happy being ordinary people. Their level of education was enough.

(All others: You two are NOT ordinary people! You’re prodigies!)

When Minister Lin opened the door to the next room and saw the empty bed, he remained calm. He had already expected they would run away.

To them, studying was like a death sentence. If they didn’t run, that would be strange.

He thought they’d at least come back for lunch, but noon came and went with no sign of them.

Meanwhile, on a mountain not far from the summer villa, Lin Mo and Bai Xiao were hanging from a tree, trapped in a net, wailing nonstop.

“Hellooo? Anyone here? Someone come save us!”

They’d just wanted to pick some fruit on the mountain. Who knew which bastard had laid a net trap on the ground? The two were too excited and didn’t notice. They ran right into it and got hoisted up.

“Why didn’t you check!? Aren’t you the one who knows astronomy and geography? If you’d warned me, we wouldn’t be dangling here!” Lin Mo slapped Bai Xiao’s arm.

Bai Xiao pitifully replied, “I didn’t think about it! And you were the one dragging me! Even if I noticed, you didn’t give me time to react!”

They had indeed been running hand-in-hand the whole way. Even if he sensed danger, he wouldn’t have had time to stop her. Yet somehow the blame fell on him again.

After hanging for a while, they even started getting sleepy. Honestly…it was a bit comfortable. And they could swing like a hammock.

As Lin Mo swung, she suddenly had an idea. “Hey! What if we swing hard enough to break the branch? With our combined weight, it’s pretty heavy. If the branch breaks, we’ll be free!”

They looked at each other, then started shaking wildly.

“One, two, one, two! Keep the rhythm!”

Bai Xiao: “Move over, you’re crushing me! Your hand is almost poking my face!”

Lin Mo: “There’s no space! We’re both stuck in the middle! And you’re so big! Why can’t you shrink a little?!”

Suddenly, they both froze.

Bai Xiao: “Oh! I can shrink and slip through the gap. Why didn’t I think of that earlier?”

Lin Mo: …And you didn’t say that sooner?!

“Hurry up and get smaller!”

Why was this man getting dumber? He wasn’t learning any of her cleverness at all!
