LOT – Chapter 134 Does Our Great Yong Still Have a Single Normal Person?

Let All the Officials Hear My Thoughts; I’m Just Going to Slack off and Watch the Drama 6 min read 134 of 343 124

After returning, the Crown Prince was so angry that he couldn’t even eat dinner. Seeing his sulky look, the Crown Princess couldn’t help but find it rather amusing.

“Still upset? Lord Lin and Young Master Bai didn’t mean to expose that. As the Crown Prince, you should be a bit more magnanimous.”

Honestly, it wasn’t their fault they could hear people’s thoughts. It wasn’t like others knew their thoughts could be heard.

The Crown Prince couldn’t stay mad when he looked at his wife, but the frustration inside him refused to go away.

“Did I ever offend them? Why are they always picking on me? Second Brother and Third Brother were standing right next to me, yet they had to mention me?”

He was the dignified Crown Prince! Now people knew such an embarrassing secret about him — where was his dignity supposed to go?

Seeing his expression, the Crown Princess finally couldn’t hold back her laughter.

“Just look at you! Who told you to ignore your stomach problems? I’ve told you to take care of it, but you never listened. Now Lord Lin has exposed it to everyone. But I must say, you’ve got quite the charm— that ebony lady hasn’t even met you yet, and she’s already hopelessly in love!”

The last part of her sentence carried a faint trace of jealousy. She and the Crown Prince had married out of mutual affection, and over the years their relationship had only grown stronger.

She had never thought he would ever have other women. Perhaps she was being too petty — after all, how could a future emperor have only one woman? Still, she just couldn’t get over that mental hurdle.

Seeing the slight anger on her face, the Crown Prince’s temper immediately vanished, and he instinctively started coaxing her.

“Ah Jian, don’t listen to Lord Lin’s nonsense. That woman only likes the title of Crown Prince. If Second or Third Brother were in my place, she’d like them instead. Don’t worry, I’d never let you down.”

This was his hard-won wife! Third Brother had a hard time finding a wife, but his own path hadn’t been easy either.

The Crown Princess’s family doted on her immensely and had never planned to marry her into the royal family — too many rules, too much restraint.

Yet fate had its way, and after many twists and turns, the two of them ended up together anyway.

“Ah Jian, I told you when I married you — I’ll never let you down. Father Emperor is also open-minded; he’d never stuff women into my chambers.”

As for why the Crown Prince and Crown Princess still didn’t have children after so many years, it was simply because he wasn’t ready to be a father yet.

He still hadn’t spent enough time with his beloved wife. If a child came along and stole her attention, what would he do?

Besides, when they married, the Crown Princess was still young, and childbirth at a young age was risky. He’d rather wait.

Among the three brothers, only the Second Prince had children — one son and one daughter, both born from the Second Princess Consort.

As for why his two concubines hadn’t borne children, well, that was because they had firsthand experience of how exhausting childcare really was.

“Little ancestor, can’t you go play with your mother? Second Aunt really doesn’t have time to play with you right now!”

Concubine Chen looked at the little prince about to cry. The child ran to her courtyard every day — she couldn’t understand what attraction she possibly held for kids.

Watching these two children running around, she had long lost the urge to have any of her own.

Concubine Li, holding the little princess, had a look of complete despair. “Why are we even here in the Second Prince’s rear courtyard? Since these two brats were born, they’ve been ours to raise. Can’t the Second Princess Consort show us a little mercy?”

At her words, Concubine Chen gave a dry laugh and replied speechlessly, “Then why don’t you go serve the Second Prince? Between the two, I’d rather mind the children. At least they’re cute when they’re not making trouble.”

Yes, even now, both women still disliked the Second Prince. Although he had made great progress, he was still bafflingly full of self-confidence.

Recently, he’d even developed a habit of fishing for compliments. The two concubines couldn’t come up with enough adjectives to praise him, so they left the job to the Second Princess Consort — she was the official wife, after all.

At this moment, Lin Mo was listening as the system relayed what was happening on the Second Prince’s side.

【Hahahaha, why are all our princes so ridiculous? Is the Second Prince still so disliked? Then why did those two concubines marry him in the first place?】

That was a genuine question — of the three princes, only the Second had concubines, and only he had children.

If they wanted to compete for favor, this setup didn’t make any sense.

Bai Xiao munched viciously on a strip of beef jerky as he replied:【You don’t understand — those two concubines didn’t have it easy in their families. Back before the Second Princess Consort got married, she was very close with them. Later she suggested they become the Second Prince’s concubines together.】

【Who would’ve thought she’d send three at once! Still, they really do live well — the Second Princess Consort treats them kindly, and the Second Prince is a decent man too. It’s just… living there takes a lot of acting skill.】

Lin Mo’s mouth twitched — she honestly didn’t know what to say. The Second Prince was a character, but his wife and concubines were equally impressive.

She had never seen a woman bring her two best friends to marry into the same household. The bond between those three women was truly something else. It almost made the Second Prince seem like the extra in his own marriage.

【Tsk, this is the most harmonious inner courtyard I’ve ever heard of. In novels, these three would’ve been tearing each other apart by now.】

Bai Xiao: 【Tear what? They’re not even fighting for favor. They’ve divided the work perfectly — the Second Princess Consort handles the prince, and the concubines each take care of one child. They’ve practically raised those two kids to perfection.】

Lin Mo silently gave a thumbs-up. The entire household was full of talent!

Meanwhile, Lin Family’s Western Branch, overhearing all this, could only stare blankly.

Why did the royal family sound so abnormal? Was there even a single normal person left in Great Yong?

As it turned out — no. Not a single one. Especially not in the royal family.

Because at that very moment, trouble had erupted again — this time, involving the Third Prince.

“Father Emperor! You must uphold justice for your son! That woman dared to bump into me — she almost sent me flying!”

The Third Prince had been summoned by Emperor Xuande to the palace for an academic inspection. But after only a few steps, a palace maid suddenly ran straight into him.

The maid was just about to start her little “accidental encounter” performance — when the Third Prince, instead of catching her, dramatically flopped to the ground and started howling in pain.

His cries were so pitiful that all the nearby maids and eunuchs rushed over in alarm, and someone had already gone to call the imperial physician.

The would-be social-climbing maid was completely dumbfounded.

She hadn’t even hit him that hard! She only wanted to “accidentally” fall into his arms — how did it turn into this?!

Wow, so it was like that from the start, this explains a lot about the second prince. The whole place is managed by his wife from beginning to end and that explains why he doesn't really seem to care either.
