Bai Xiao knew who the young lady was that had written the storybook, but he didn’t say anything.

Mainly because Lin Mo hadn’t asked yet. Right now, her entire heart and mind were only focused on hurrying home to find that book and read it.

【With my elegant demeanor and outstanding charm, the character based on me should be extremely attractive, right? It’s just unfortunate that I was born a girl—if I were a man, I definitely wouldn’t be any worse than my brother or my father!】

Lin Mo touched her own face and smiled beautifully. If she were a man, her height certainly wouldn’t be this short—by normal genetics she should have been as tall as her brother.

Bai Xiao recalled this person’s daily life of eating, drinking, and playing, then thought of what she just said, and his expression became a little complicated.

【Do you really think that if you were a man you wouldn’t be worse than your brother or your father? Their talents are comparable to the top scholar of the imperial exams. If it weren’t for the fact that they were too handsome and were handpicked to be “Flower Seekers,” they would both have been Zhuangyuan (first place). Do you think you could become Zhuangyuan?】

Lin Ran also felt speechless inside. This person’s self-confidence was a bit too much, wasn’t it?

From childhood to now, she had never once seen her do anything proper—every day it was just eating, drinking, and having fun. And her handwriting was like a chicken scratching at paper.

Their family counted as a scholarly household. Even if not everyone had deep knowledge, at the very least they all had beautiful calligraphy. But this girl’s handwriting was the worst in the whole family—even worse than that of a ten-year-old child.

Lin Mo understood the meaning behind Bai Xiao’s words and hurriedly retorted: 【Why couldn’t I become Zhuangyuan? I just haven’t studied seriously before! If I really studied seriously, I’d absolutely be no worse than them!】

Bai Xiao chuckled: 【You? You can’t even hold a book for ten seconds before your eyes start to close, and you always call it “just resting a bit.” And once you start resting, it never ends.】

【Since the day I was bound to you, I don’t think you’ve finished a single proper book—other than storybooks.】

Lin Mo wanted to argue, but she really had no way to refute this point.

It wasn’t her fault—those serious books were just too serious, so boring they could kill!

If only someone would rewrite those books as stories—she would definitely be able to learn them!

【Aiya, why do you look down on me so much? I’m still Lord Xiao Lin, okay! The only female official of this dynasty!】

Bai Xiao: 【Correction—one of two. Don’t forget Princess Hua Yao. She may not attend court, but she really does command military power. She’s a genuine female general.】

Their bickering was so entertaining that everyone around them lowered their own voices just to listen.

This spring outing turned out quite nice overall—not only did they enjoy fresh melons, but they also watched a wonderful “quarrel play.”

Ever since the system turned into a human, its ability to argue had improved a lot. To see Lord Xiao Lin suffer a setback was truly rare!

On the way home, following Bai Xiao’s instructions, Lin Mo bought the storybook and, unable to hold back, immediately started reading it in the carriage.

And she had to admit—it was written really well! Lin Mo almost wished she could dive straight into the book and become that talented, beauty-surrounded “Number One Young Master of the Capital.”

Yes—inside, she was a man, and the character setting was: the Capital’s Number One Young Master and its Most Handsome Man!

But wait—that wasn’t that her father’s old title? Now it had been taken over by her brother!

【Hahahaha, this book is absolutely perfect for me! I never thought that in someone else’s heart I’d be this talented and outstanding! Who is this author? She’s going to be my friend for sure!】

Lin Mo laughed until her eyes curved into slits. Lin Ran, watching her sister’s unseemly glee, could only shut her eyes helplessly.

Fine, whatever—Father’s and Brother’s fame had been pinned on her. Fortunately, it was all kept within the family.

Bai Xiao was also absorbed in the story. 【The author of this story is Su Jin Xiu, daughter of Hanlin Scholar Su. She’s been well-read since childhood. Right now, about two-thirds of all popular storybooks in the capital are written by her. The “Legend of the War God Prince” you’ve been reading lately is also hers.】

Lin Mo froze, then her eyes widened suddenly: 【The “Legend of the War God Prince”? Don’t tell me that one also has a real-life prototype! Could it be His Highness Prince Xin?!】

【Hehe, you guessed it. It really is Prince Xin. And that book “The Beauty and the Flower-Seeker” is based on your father and mother’s love story!】

Even Lin Ran was shocked. Their parents had been written into a storybook?!

She had even read that one before—and at the time, she’d thought it felt oddly familiar, but couldn’t place why. Now she knew—it was her own parents’ story!

Lin Ran truly wanted to applaud Miss Su. Outwardly she seemed so gentle and proper, but who would’ve thought she was secretly doing such big things!

Lin Mo’s opinion of this young lady skyrocketed. 【Xiao Bai! This young lady is amazing! Then… that “First Young Master’s Biography” must be based on my brother and father, right?!】

Bai Xiao: 【Exactly. She combined your brother’s and father’s stories to create the “First Young Master’s Biography.” For decades, the First Young Master of the Capital was your father. Now it’s your brother. The title of “Most Handsome Man in the Capital” has been monopolized by your family for decades!】

He really couldn’t understand what kind of luck his host had. Other transmigrators either suffered bitter lives, or got thrown into palace schemes and courtyard battles.

But her? She transmigrated just to enjoy life—loving parents, a harmonious family, siblings who doted on her, and even when she made trouble, there were always people cleaning up after her.

Lin Mo didn’t know what Bai Xiao was thinking. Right now she was very excited—no, extremely excited.

But suddenly she realized something was off: 【Wait, if everyone in my family has been written about, then why doesn’t my sister have her own book? That author isolated my sister!】

Lin Ran: … Totally unnecessary. I don’t want to be in a storybook.

Bai Xiao: 【She does have one. It’s still being written. The title is “The Talented Lady and My Little Stories.” Oh, by the way, Miss Su Jin Xiu really admires your sister—she practically treats her as an idol.】

Lin Mo narrowed her eyes suspiciously: 【Are you sure it’s idolization, and not actual liking? Although I may not be the best judge of my sister’s relationships, her partner must be someone she herself likes. I don’t care if it’s a man or a woman, but they must be good-looking!】

Lin Ran clenched her fists, suddenly wanting to punch someone. Sometimes this girl’s mouth was really too much!

Bai Xiao patted Lin Ran’s hand and said helplessly: 【What are you thinking? She has a fiancé. Isn’t she allowed to have an idol? Your sister is the model lady among the noble daughters of the capital. Unlike you—others call her a fairy from the Moon Palace. As for you…】

Bai Xiao paused, not finishing.

【What about me? Why do I feel like you’re very dissatisfied with me? I’m still the dashing and charming Number One Young Master! The storybook is right here to prove it!】 Lin Mo was perfectly pleased with herself—aside from her short height, she was satisfied with everything else.

Bai Xiao smirked, trying hard not to laugh: 【Others call your sister a fairy from the Moon Palace. You? You’re the Moon Palace’s rabbit. A hopping little rabbit, hahahaha.】

Lin Mo: … Is that supposed to be polite?!

Lin Ran hid half her face with her sleeve, pretending to sip tea, as she struggled to stifle her laughter.

The description was actually pretty accurate—her sister really was like a lively rabbit.

Slight typo I think, BaiXiao should be holding Lin Mo's hand, not Lin Ran's. Pretty funny though about how much she's involved in the family.
