As soon as Lin Qi stepped out of the study, he saw someone on the roof darting around like a monkey.

He didn’t even need to think to know who it was.

Master Lin noticed his son looking toward the rooftop and followed his gaze, though his eyesight wasn’t as good and he couldn’t clearly make out what was up there. Judging from the movements, though, it did look like a monkey.

“When did we get a monkey in our house? Why is there one dancing on the roof?”

He even rubbed his eyes, thinking he must be seeing things.

Lin Qi fell silent for a moment before replying, “That’s not a monkey. That’s your daughter.”

Master Lin’s first reaction was to think of Lin Ran, assuming she was up there admiring the moon and composing poetry.

“Ran’er? Is she writing poetry under the moonlight?”

Lin Ran had liked doing that in the past—but her movements were always much more graceful. After all, she was a true literary young lady.

Lin Qi gave his father a look full of helplessness. “Look at those moves and posture. Do you really think Ran’er would behave like that? That’s Mo’er. She’s gone wild on the rooftop!”

Master Lin: !!!

“What is she up to now?!”

You couldn’t really blame him for reacting this way. After all, Lin Mo had never done anything that could be considered normal.

“I need to go see what she’s doing up there. What if she falls and hurts herself?!”

Lin Mo, blissfully unaware of her father’s concern, was currently holding a cup of wine, drinking happily, and even got a sudden wave of inspiration to compose a poem.

“Ah! Moon! You’re so beautiful! Beautiful like a giant pancake! Looks delicious!”

System: …

Everyone below: …

Lin Mo even turned to the system excitedly: [How was it? Pretty good, right? I’m a hands-on, down-to-earth kind of poet.]

System paused for a moment: [As long as you’re happy…]

Just as Master Lin and Lin Qi arrived, they overheard her poetic masterpiece. Master Lin let out a pained sigh. If you have no talent, then don’t show off!

Lin Qi just stood there speechless. If that counts as poetry, then what have I been writing all these years?

Thank goodness this girl didn’t have to take the imperial exam. With that kind of “talent,” the examiners would laugh themselves to death.

The system noticed Lin Mo was getting more and more out of hand and quickly reminded her: [Your father and big brother are here. Hurry and come down from there.]

Lin Mo: [No! I want them to witness my literary brilliance! Besides, there’s no court tomorrow! I get three whole days off!]

She was so cheerful today precisely because tomorrow was a rest day—which meant she could sleep in and go back to her old, lazy lifestyle, at least temporarily.

“Dad! Big Bro! Let me compose a poem inspired by you both!”

Father and son suddenly had a bad feeling.

“No! Keep your ‘literary brilliance’ to yourself!”

But it was already too late.

Lin Mo beamed and declared, “Your heads are so round! Just like big rubber balls!”

Father and son: …

“Pfft!” The maid below almost couldn’t hold back her laughter.

The hidden guards in the distance were nearly dying of laughter. They had originally thought this mission was a waste of their abilities, but now… it was pure entertainment.

“Quick, write that down! Let His Majesty have a laugh too!”

By now, Lin Mo was completely drunk. She stood on the rooftop swaying side to side, and everyone below felt their hearts lurch with every wobble.

Madam Lin and Lin Ran arrived too. Seeing Lin Mo up on the roof, they both sighed in unison.

“Quick, think of a way to get her down. If she falls, she’s definitely breaking something.”

Master Lin sighed, “You think I don’t want to get her down? But look at her. Do you think she’s in any state to listen?”

Lin Mo suddenly shouted, “I am listening! Talk to me!”

Everyone below: … Yep, definitely drunk.

“Come, come, let me dance for you all!” Lin Mo suddenly remembered scenes from TV dramas where heroines danced under the moonlight. She figured—why not?

“No!” As everyone shouted in alarm, Lin Mo promptly slipped and fell off the roof—only for her waistband to get caught on a beam, leaving her hanging there mid-air.

And she still laughed.

“Hehehe, it’s like I’m on a swing!”

Madam Lin clutched her chest, nearly fainting. This girl is going to be the death of me!

Even the system was startled. [Oh my god, oh my god! If you want to die, please don’t drag me with you! I’m just a baby system! I haven’t even lived my full life yet!]

Lin Mo patted her belt and sighed. “This thing is restraining me. Otherwise, I would’ve shown you all a real flying dance!”

Everyone on the ground: …

“Flying dance, huh?! Let’s see if I don’t help you fly right now!”

Lin Qi had had enough. He leapt up, grabbed her, and brought her down. He hadn’t dared to before for fear of startling her and causing a real accident. Now, all caution was gone.

Moments later, a chorus of shrieks and yelps filled the courtyard.

This time, it was a full-family beatdown—father, mother, brother, and sister all joining in.

Hidden guards: “Tragic! Absolutely tragic!”

When the emperor heard about it in the middle of the night, he nearly rolled off his bed from laughter.

“Oh my! The Lin family is truly lively with Lin Mo around!”

“I never knew poems could be written like that—or that dancing meant jumping off rooftops. And she even said she was going to perform ‘flying to the heavens’! I can’t stop laughing!”

The emperor even dropped his usual formal tone—he was truly cracking up.

“Come, come, share this story with everyone. We’re not holding court for the next three days. People will be bored at home—this will be the perfect entertainment.”

Let it be said: this emperor was truly a rascal.

That night, roars of laughter echoed from the homes of various ministers. Their understanding of Lin Mo reached an entirely new level.

The next morning, Lin Mo woke up still dazed. The system looked at her sluggish face and sighed.

[Do you remember what happened last night? You almost got yourself killed!]

[I wanted to enjoy some juicy gossip with you, not have you become the gossip!]

Lin Mo let out a dramatic wail and buried her head under the blanket.

“Why didn’t you warn me?! This is so embarrassing!

”System: [Didn’t I already remind you?! I started warning you the moment you began drinking. Then when your parents showed up, I reminded you again, but you just got even more hyped up.]
