After thinking about all sorts of random things for quite a while, Song Yiran realized it was almost noon.

He patted his butt, stood up slowly from the ground, and took Song Buli to the kitchen to prepare lunch.

Lunch consisted of two dishes and one soup.

The first dish was stir-fried bamboo shoots with pork—crisp, refreshing bamboo shoots paired with tender slices of meat, bringing out the bamboo shoots’ natural sweetness to the fullest and making it utterly irresistible.

The second dish was simply stir-fried romaine lettuce. The emerald-green lettuce had nothing added besides seasonings, restoring its most original flavor. One bite felt as though you were standing in the middle of a romaine lettuce field.

The final dish was seaweed and egg drop soup. The light seaweed combined with silky egg ribbons made it nutritious and warming to the stomach—perfect for Song Buli, who was still growing.

After eating and drinking their fill, Song Yiran washed the dishes and then took Song Buli to the yard for a walk to help with digestion.

Song Yiran walked in front, with Song Buli following slowly behind him.

From time to time, Song Yiran would turn around to look at Song Buli. Seeing the scene before him, he suddenly thought of the image of a chief eunuch walking ahead of the emperor to clear the way.

Right now, he looked exactly like that eunuch paving the road, while Song Buli was like the emperor walking behind.

Song Yiran was amused by his own imagination and laughed.

And so, while enjoying the gentle breeze and bright sunshine, Song Yiran leisurely led Song Buli on a walk around the yard.

Life like this was really relaxing—no pressure at all. He almost wanted to become a salted fish.

As they walked, Song Yiran and Song Buli arrived at the small facilities in the yard.

At first, Song Yiran hadn’t known what these were. It wasn’t until yesterday afternoon, after pulling out all the weeds in the yard, that he finally saw them clearly.

They were children’s play facilities: a seesaw, a slide, and a small swing.

Yesterday, he had deliberately wiped all these facilities clean with a cloth so that Song Buli could play whenever he wanted.

Speaking of which, Song Buli hadn’t played on them yet. Song Yiran picked him up and sat together with him on the slide. “Lili, big brother will take you to play on the slide. This is really fun.”

Song Buli had never played on a slide before and was full of curiosity about this new thing.
“Okay!”

Seeing Song Buli’s innocent little eyes, Song Yiran silently despised himself.

He was already a grown adult, yet he was using the excuse of teaching Song Buli how to play on the slide to play on it himself. He really was an “evil” adult.

But this wasn’t his fault—slides were just too tempting.

He had loved playing on slides when he was little. After growing up, because of pride, he’d never gone to play again. Now that he finally had the chance, of course he couldn’t let it go.

Feeling a bit guilty, Song Yiran looked away and held Song Buli securely in his arms. “Lili, are you ready?”

Song Buli responded excitedly, “Mm!”

Song Yiran took Song Buli and went “whoosh,” sliding down from the top of the slide.

Still wanting more, he rubbed Song Buli’s head. “Lili, was it fun?”

After coming back to his senses from the thrill, Song Buli immediately said excitedly, “Big brother, big brother, this is so much fun! Lili wants to play again!”

Plan successful! Song Yiran silently made a V sign in his heart.

He knew it—no child could resist the charm of a slide!

Once Song Buli had played it once, he’d be unable to forget it.

That way, he could secretly satisfy his own selfish desires under the excuse of playing together with Song Buli.

He really was an “evil” big brother.

And so, Song Yiran spent a full hour playing on the slide with Song Buli in the yard.

Song Yiran felt like he’d become more than ten years younger—but no matter how young he felt, it was still time for a midday nap.

He had originally been coaxing Song Buli to sleep, but after Song Buli fell asleep, he himself also became drowsy.

Outside the window, unknown insects kept chirping “zhi zhi,” sounding exactly like a lullaby.

In the end, Song Yiran couldn’t resist the wave of sleepiness. Amid the hypnotic insect calls, he closed his eyes—making sure to tuck a small blanket over Song Buli before drifting off.

Whatever. He was just a 200-plus-month-old baby who needed a nap, after all.

After waking up, Song Yiran felt full of energy—he felt like he could go out and run a marathon right now.

“Xiao Zhong’er, do you have money here?”

“Yes, young man. Wait a moment, I’ll give you a light-brain.”

A short while later, a light-brain appeared on Song Yiran’s wrist.

“Young man, this light-brain has already been bound to you. The account inside has more money than you could ever spend in this life or the next. Remember to set a payment password.
You can also play around on the StarNet.”

Hearing the words “StarNet,” Song Yiran’s eyes immediately lit up.

Back when he used to read interstellar novels, he’d always longed for StarNet—that was a virtual online world! Playing games there had to be insanely fun!

Strangely enough, even though he had never seen a light-brain before, the moment he saw it, he knew how to use it, as if it were instinctive.

But whatever—Song Yiran tossed that small doubt aside and logged into StarNet.

In front of the StarNet he’d been yearning for, that little doubt wasn’t worth mentioning.

A pleasant mechanical voice sounded in his mind:【Welcome to StarNet. Your mental power has been bound to the light-brain. Please set your initial appearance.】

Song Yiran couldn’t be bothered to adjust anything and directly used his own appearance without changing a thing.

【Please set your nickname.】

He thought carefully for a moment, then finally entered: 【Guardian of History】.

This name suited his identity very well.

According to Xiao Zhong’er, wasn’t he precisely a guardian of history?

【Dear Guardian of History, we wish you a pleasant experience!】

As soon as he entered StarNet, Song Yiran was dazzled by the colorful world before his eyes.

There were all kinds of strange buildings he had never seen before, and the streets were filled with people of every sort.

Song Yiran was full of curiosity about everything around him.

But he didn’t forget the purpose of this trip.

He had originally just planned to withdraw some money to buy a couple of outfits for himself and Song Buli, but he hadn’t expected to go straight onto the StarNet instead.

That said, he actually liked online shopping quite a bit.

Song Yiran found a clothing store and first headed to the men’s section to pick out clothes for himself.

But faced with the dazzling array of options, his decision paralysis flared up again.

That black one had a good cut and was dirt-resistant, but the white one was also great—very trendy.

The yellow one looked youthful and energetic; he’d definitely look handsome in it. But the design of the blue one really hit his tastes.

Buying clothes on the StarNet was actually perfect for someone with decision paralysis like him—you could try things on as much as you wanted without worrying about getting the clothes dirty.

Song Yiran changed outfits many times in the virtual fitting room. In the end, he bought all of them.

Only kids make choices. Adults want everything.

Anyway, there was plenty of money in his account.

He suddenly grew a bit curious—just how much money was in there, exactly? Enough that he wouldn’t be able to spend it all even in his next lifetime?

It was fine when he didn’t look. Once he did, he was shocked.

“Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten-thousands, hundred-thousands, millions…”

Oh my god, there were eleven zeros after that!

Holy crap—he was a billionaire!

Staring at the eleven zeros in his account balance, Song Yiran was beside himself with excitement. He had finally become a billionaire!

He used to fantasize all the time about winning the lottery, becoming a billionaire, and lying flat like a salted fish for the rest of his life.

Today, that dream had finally come true!

Once he snapped back to his senses, he immediately set a payment password, as if the money would disappear if he were even a second slower.

After paying, he had to fill in the delivery address. It was only then—thanks to the location function—that Song Yiran finally learned the exact address of his own orphanage.

Interstellar Orphanage, 2C Street, C District, C City, Planet C.

Just looking at that address made his head hurt. So many C’s.

Next, he searched online for the best children’s clothing store on the entire StarNet and teleported in via the link.

Now that he was rich, he naturally had to buy Song Buli some good clothes. Money wasn’t an issue—kids deserved the best.

However, once inside the store, Song Yiran discovered an even more serious problem.

All the clothes sold here were children’s clothes for humanoid kids. There was nothing suitable for a child like Song Buli.

Since he was already here, he couldn’t just leave empty-handed. Song Yiran browsed around, trying to find something that Song Buli could wear.

He refused to believe that such a huge children’s clothing store wouldn’t have even one piece of clothing that Song Buli could wear.

Thirty minutes later, Song Yiran walked out of the store.

When he couldn’t find anything suitable, he asked a male sales assistant. After hearing his question, the assistant looked utterly incredulous.

“Sir, did you… misspeak? Are you sure you’re looking for children’s clothing for ‘inferi—’ … non-humanoid children? Sir, I can guarantee that right now, across the entire galaxy, there simply are no children’s clothes for these… non-humanoid kids. Would you like to take another look at the normal children’s clothes in our store? We’ve had many new arrivals recently…”

“No need. I don’t need those. Since your store doesn’t have what I’m looking for, I’ll try another one,” Song Yiran interrupted, then left the shop.

After stepping outside, he stood dazed in the street, a sudden sense of powerlessness rising in his heart.

He knew what the sales assistant had instinctively wanted to say—“inferior breed.”

The fact that, even in such a situation, the assistant could promptly switch to a more moderate term showed how professionally trained he was. Which meant that what the assistant said—that there were no such children’s clothes anywhere in the galaxy—was probably true.

Not even children’s clothes?

If even a well-trained sales assistant would subconsciously want to say the words “inferior breed,” then what about others? Ordinary people?

Song Buli—his little brother—over the past four years, had he often been called that?

Had he suffered even worse beatings and abuse? Gone hungry, gone cold?

How had his little brother lived before this?

Song Yiran wanted to go back and hug Song Buli.

A few minutes later, he pulled himself together and searched online for the best baby products store on the entire StarNet.

Since there were no children’s clothes in the whole galaxy that Song Buli could wear, he might as well change his way of thinking.

He could buy Song Buli some bibs, and some toys.

After entering the baby products store, Song Yiran felt like he’d discovered a whole new world.

There were so many adorable little bibs, tiny bow ties, small neckties, little hats, and more.

In one go, Song Yiran bought several bibs, bows, ties, and hats—pink, red, blue, yellow, all of them.

He also bought a whole set of yellow rubber ducks for bath time—fifty of them. They squeaked when squeezed and were especially fun.

There were also baby nail clippers that wouldn’t hurt little hands.

After paying and filling in the address, Song Yiran immediately logged out of the StarNet.

When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a sleepy-eyed Song Buli.

He gently pulled Song Buli into his arms. “Lili, big brother will always protect you. Big brother will let you grow up without worries.”

Song Buli, whose consciousness was still hazy, had already woken up when Song Yiran hugged him.

Hearing those words, Song Buli quietly stayed in Song Yiran’s embrace.

Having a big brother is so nice!

When he grows up, he’ll protect big brother too.
