After breakfast, the cubs went off to play; it was the weekend, so no school today.
Only Song Xianyue and Song An stayed in the kitchen. Song Xianyue was intrigued by the jelly shaped like pudding and was eager to try some.
Song An didn’t voice it, but he also wanted some pudding.
Song Xianyue wagged his tail excitedly and asked Song Yiran, “Brother, can you make pudding?”
Song An looked at Song Yiran with the same longing. Song Yiran felt a little guilty under their gaze and scratched the back of his head: “Ah, well… I actually can’t make pudding. Even though I always follow the recipe, it never works out…”
He didn’t want to see their disappointed faces, so he quickly suggested: “How about I buy pudding for you instead?”
Song Xianyue tilted his head thoughtfully and shook it: “No need, brother. Can I try making pudding myself?”
Song An immediately raised his paw: “Me too! I want to try making pudding!”
Seeing their enthusiasm, Song Yiran agreed, with one condition: “Of course! But you’re still too young, and using kitchen tools can be risky, so you have to work under my supervision.”
The two cubs chimed together: “Okay!”
Song Yiran was already mentally prepared to eat whatever chaotic creations the cubs made and praise them generously.
After all, most first-time cooking attempts are disastrous, especially for two little cubs who were only four years old and had barely experienced the kitchen.
To his surprise, each step the cubs took was precise and careful.
After a while, Song Yiran looked at the neatly arranged, fragrant, authentic caramel puddings on the table, lost in thought.
Song Yiran: These two cubs… seem to have real culinary talent!
For their first time cooking, they had produced nearly perfect caramel pudding! It was incredible—like a miracle.
Not only that, they worked without any fumbling and didn’t need him to intervene; everything was done by their own paws.
The rich aroma of the caramel pudding captivated Song Yiran, and he inhaled deeply, intoxicated by the scent, then praised the cubs lavishly:
“Oh my, darlings, you’re amazing! You’re practically gods of the kitchen! Your first time cooking and you’ve made such perfect caramel pudding—it’s incredible, you’re so talented!”
Song Yiran smiled as he patted the cubs’ heads: “You two are truly my pride!”
Song Xianyue’s features lit up like blooming flowers, tail wagging like a spinning propeller, leaving only a yellow blur behind.
Song An blushed under the praise, though the thick fur on his face hid it.
Song Yiran scooped a piece of pudding and tasted it, instantly amazed by its flavor.
The silky, bouncy pudding slid smoothly in his mouth, melting instantly, releasing rich milk and egg aroma with a hint of caramel. Simply divine.
He immediately praised them again: “So delicious! You’re truly gods of the kitchen! I’ve never tasted caramel pudding this good before! You’re incredibly talented!”
Song Xianyue floated on the praise, suggesting: “Brother, I want to make more pudding! I’ll let everyone at home try it!”
“Me too! I want to join,” Song An added.
“Alright, I’ll assist you!” Song Yiran rolled up his sleeves.
The sweet aroma gradually filled the entire kitchen, immersing everyone in the fragrance of caramel pudding.
Meanwhile, in the yard…
Song Yuetao was bored, scrolling through the Star Network. Some time ago, Song Yiran had given Song Yuan and Song Yuetao light-brains and credited their accounts with pocket money.
At first, Song Yuetao was excited and spent all his time playing games, browsing posts, and watching videos.
Eventually, he grew bored as most games were too easy—just a few moves and he could clear them. So he quit.
“Sigh…” Song Yuetao lay on the soft grass, sounding frustrated. “All these games are so boring. Are there any really fun games?”
Xiao Zhong’er happened to pass by, and upon hearing this, immediately squatted down and enthusiastically recommended a game from his light-brain library: “Fun games? I’ve got one!”
It was the same game Xiao Zhong’er had struggled to beat before—the trial level that even asking Song Yiran for help couldn’t pass, and he had to hire a game proxy to complete it.
Xiao Zhong’er eagerly pitched it: “This game is amazing! It’s a huge open world with exploration, farming, puzzles, character development, and adventures! The story is engaging, the puzzles are fun! Some levels are tough, but if you can’t pass, I can find someone to play for you.”
Song Yuetao hadn’t been that interested until he heard some levels were really difficult. His eyes immediately lit up: “Some levels are really hard? How hard could they be?”
Xiao Zhong’er shrugged: “Super hard. For example, the trial level I couldn’t pass before—you have to release a smooth combo at just the right moment. Miss by a few seconds and you fail.”
“Interesting! I want to see how hard it really is!” Song Yuetao’s competitive spirit was triggered. He quickly downloaded the game and started playing.
Xiao Zhong’er sat beside him to watch.
Originally, he planned to enjoy seeing Song Yuetao struggle, imagining the cub would be completely overwhelmed, maybe even cry in frustration, then he’d comfort him afterward.
It seemed like a perfect plan—until he overlooked a small possibility: Song Yuetao was a gaming prodigy.
Song Yuetao quickly reached the trial level that had stumped Xiao Zhong’er, and with a few quick swipes of his tiny hooves, he cleared it smoothly.
The entire process of clearing the level took less than thirty seconds. It was so smooth it was like using an ice cream machine to make a perfectly shaped scoop of ice cream.
Xiao Zhong’er watched from the side, completely dumbfounded.
Are we even playing the same game? That level was insanely hard to clear. How did it take less than half a minute under Song Yuetao’s little hooves?
He couldn’t help but start questioning his entire existence as a system.
Could it be that his gaming talent was worse than that of a cub who hadn’t even been out of the egg for a year yet?
That would be way too tragic…
“Is this game really that hard? It’s just average,” Song Yuetao said, pouting in boredom. “It’s not fun at all. There’s zero challenge.”
Xiao Zhong’er felt like an arrow had pierced his knee.
No challenge?!
He had died dozens of times on this level!
Song Yuetao continued complaining, “I feel like none of the games on StarNet are fun. I’ve played so many of them, and they’re all super easy. No challenge at all—no gameplay value!”
A mischievous thought arose in Xiao Zhong’er’s mind.
He quickly pulled up StarNet’s Top 5 Hardest Games Ranking and picked the number one game.
“How about you try this one?”
“Sure, I’ll give it a go,” Song Yuetao nodded casually.
An hour later, Song Yuetao had finished all five of the hardest-ranked games—and cleared every single one.
There were adventure games, puzzle games, combat games, and strategy/攻略 games (this one had nothing to do with romance).
No matter the type, Song Yuetao mastered them easily and cleared them smoothly.
Xiao Zhong’er was completely numb.
“Just now, in that puzzle game… it hadn’t even been ten minutes since the start. How did you already identify the real culprit?”
Song Yuetao: “Wasn’t it obvious? It was that guy.”
“And the adventure game! You found the key item in ten minutes!”
“That was easy. Not finding it would be weird.”
“And the combat game! Your controls were insanely smooth! Combo after combo—it was dazzling! How do you even do that?”
“It’s simple. Just move your hands.”
“And that super text-heavy strategy game! There were ten characters to romance—”
“Each of them was ridiculously hard!
“Give gifts and you lose favor. Don’t give gifts and you lose favor. Say one wrong sentence and you lose favor. Without a guide, it’s basically impossible!
“You didn’t even read the guide, skipped tons of key dialogue, but every choice increased affection. How?!”
Song Yuetao replied calmly, “Easy. Just follow your intuition.”
Xiao Zhong’er was utterly stunned.
“I get it now… You’re a born gaming genius, right?”
He immediately put on a flattering smile.
“Hehe! Yuetao, you’re amazing at games! A true little gaming prodigy! If I get stuck in the future, can I ask you for help?”
“Of course! Leave it to me!” Song Yuetao lifted his chin proudly.
“Fifth Brother, whenever you can’t clear a level, just come to me. I’ll beat it for you!”
“Yay!” Xiao Zhong’er cheered.
