After leaving the palace, Jin Luoluo spent the entire night thinking. By the time she woke up the next morning, she had already come up with the perfect plan.
She instructed the master chef of Jin Luoluo Grand Hotel—a chef worthy of being called a national treasure—to prepare a lavish feast featuring cuisines from around the world. Then, brimming with confidence, she headed for the palace once again.
She charged straight into the Emperor’s Ziji Palace.
“Your Majesty, this is terrible! Miss Jin Luoluo has come to see you again!”
The elderly chief eunuch hurried into the Emperor’s side chamber.
Having served the Emperor for many years, the eunuchs around him knew that nothing gave His Majesty a bigger headache than his future daughter-in-law.
Whenever Jin Luoluo showed up, it almost always meant trouble.
“What? She’s here again?” The Emperor sighed. “Being Emperor is such a nuisance. That girl never comes to pay her respects when everything’s fine. The moment she runs into trouble, she comes looking for me. Am I some kind of sack made for collecting other people’s problems?”
Sure enough, the Emperor had been leisurely enjoying the company of a beautiful maid giving him a shoulder massage. The instant he heard the news, his relaxed expression collapsed into a miserable grimace.
Jin Luoluo was a walking disaster.
Who knew what impossible mess she’d gotten herself into this time?
She had undoubtedly come to dump it on him.
Not this time.
“Well… Your Majesty,” the old eunuch suggested, “shall this servant tell her you’re not here?”
“It’s useless. She’ll definitely find some way to track me down. Quick, help me onto the bed. I’ll pretend to be sick. She can’t possibly expect a poor, ailing old man to worry about her problems.”
The Emperor immediately jumped to his feet, allowing the eunuchs to help him back onto the bed.
The moment he heard Jin Luoluo’s footsteps approaching the doorway, he began groaning pitifully and putting on an elaborate performance of being gravely ill.
Jin Luoluo leaned over the bedside and asked with exaggerated concern,
“Your Majesty, what’s wrong? Were you so excited to see me that you actually made yourself sick? If I’d known that, I’d have come to chat with you every single day.”
The Emperor’s eye twitched.
This girl really has no shame when it comes to praising herself.
Seeing her did make him feel ill—but not from excitement. It was from sheer exasperation.
In any case, whenever she came looking for him, nothing good ever followed.
He genuinely didn’t want to deal with her problems.
“Ah, Luoluo.” The Emperor sighed weakly. “I’ve been overworking myself lately, so my spirits are low and my health has suffered. The imperial physicians have ordered me to get plenty of rest. Whatever trouble you’ve gotten yourself into, go ask my sons to help you. I simply can’t help you this time.”
Jin Luoluo narrowed her eyes.
That old man looked positively radiant. His face was as plump and rosy as the God of Longevity’s, yet he had the nerve to claim he was exhausted from overwork.
