Thinking that good things should be shared, Jin Luoluo picked up the wine pot and headed outside.
When she arrived at the garden of the Eastern Palace, she found Xiao Yu and Xiao Luo—the uncle and nephew—chatting beneath the moonlight.
“What are you two talking about? I brought some fine wine to treat you,” Jin Luoluo said, raising the wine pot in her hand.
Xiao Luo smiled.
“Nothing much. We were just discussing the hottest topic lately. The annual exchange between the two diplomatic missions is almost here again. This year, we’ve heard that the Jialan Kingdom has sent an exceptionally strong delegation, determined to outshine our nation.”
He continued,
“Luoluo, this year you are our dynasty’s team leader. Once we return, you should begin preparing to face them and start selecting the right competitors.”
Xiao Yu was fairly confident in Jin Luoluo’s abilities. His only concern was her lack of experience, so he offered her some advice.
“Whether it’s the literary contests or the martial competitions, you must first choose the right people and make sure they work well together. That way, when the competition begins, everything will proceed calmly instead of in a panic.”
Jin Luoluo grinned slyly.
“Neither of you is getting away. I think you’re both first-rate talents—brilliant in both strategy and martial arts. You’re more than qualified to join Jin Luoluo’s Elite Team.”
Xiao Luo laughed.
“Luoluo, we’ll definitely help you. But more than anything, this depends on your own judgment and wisdom. Being the team leader isn’t an easy task. When I have time, I’ll tell you about my experience serving as team leader last year. It might give you some useful ideas.”
“Even though I’ve never done this before,” Jin Luoluo declared confidently, “I believe that whenever I, Jin Luoluo, take action, failure simply isn’t an option. Don’t worry—I will do my best and won’t disgrace our country. Otherwise, that old Emperor won’t let me off.”
She lifted her chin proudly.
Although leading the delegation wouldn’t be easy, succeeding would only add more prestige to the name Jin Luoluo.
For the sake of her future fortune, she was determined to win this competition no matter what.
“Excellent. Then let’s celebrate your victory in advance,” Xiao Yu said as he poured the wine and handed each of them a cup.
“Celebrate what victory in advance?”
Yang Ruoyao stepped into the pavilion. Her gaze settled on Jin Luoluo, as dark and heavy as the night itself.
Jin Luoluo had no idea why Yang Ruoyao had appeared there, but she didn’t care. She was in an excellent mood today and saw no reason to argue with the woman.
“We’re celebrating my future victory in leading our team to defeat the Jialan delegation.”
Yang Ruoyao stiffened.
“You mean you’re this year’s team leader? His Majesty actually appointed a woman to lead the Chuyun Kingdom’s delegation against the foreign envoys?”
