“Jin Luoluo, what’s wrong?” Xiao Che asked, only half convinced. Even so, he gently placed his hand on her forehead and softly massaged her temples, trying to ease her headache.
Jin Luoluo froze.
What had gotten into that jinx? He was actually treating her so gently. Had he suddenly realized that sick people should be treated with warmth and kindness?
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
She hurriedly stopped him.
The whole situation reminded her of a wolf gently giving a rabbit a massage. It was enough to make the rabbit panic, unable to understand why the wolf had suddenly decided to become a vegetarian.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore? Good. Then let’s have a nice little chat.”
Seeing her so eager to avoid his touch made Xiao Che extremely displeased. He let out a cold snort, sat down on the edge of the bed, and fixed his eyes on her.
“Do we really have anything to talk about?”
Jin Luoluo shrank farther under the blanket.
That jinx’s face was so dark. Was he planning to interrogate her like a criminal?
“How could we not? We can talk about why, after returning to your room last night, you suddenly ran out into the rain again.”
Xiao Che had no intention of letting her off so easily.
Today, he was determined to make her understand that he was her fiancé. He would not allow her to keep acting as though he didn’t exist.
“Well…”
“I forgot something in the main hall, so I went back to get it.”
Jin Luoluo made up a story on the spot. Anyway, he couldn’t exactly verify it.
Xiao Che naturally knew she was lying through her teeth. He gave a derisive snort.
“Oh? Then I didn’t know you ran into Seventeenth Uncle in the main hall. When I found you, you were near the Central Palace—quite a distance from the Eastern Hall. So how do you explain suddenly ending up at the Central Palace, together with Seventeenth Uncle?”
A cold sweat broke out on Jin Luoluo’s back.
She had fainted, so she had no idea what had happened afterward.
She only vaguely remembered that Xiao Che had arrived before she lost consciousness. As for where exactly they had met, she couldn’t remember at all.
If she kept making things up, the holes in her story would only multiply until it completely fell apart.
With no better option, Jin Luoluo sighed.
“Fine, fine. I’ll confess. Why are you being so fierce?”
As long as she acted even fiercer than the jinx, he wouldn’t be able to maintain the upper hand.
Arguments weren’t about who was right.
They were about who could shout the loudest, who could be the most shameless, and who had the strongest presence.
If she could outdo him in all three, then the jinx who had come to settle accounts with her would end up helpless against her instead.
