“Uh, Your Majesty, I’ve actually been preparing for this for quite some time. I’m only short of a few performers. As soon as everything is ready, I’ll notify you immediately.”
“Mm, mm, mm, then hurry up. If you do a good job and make me happy, I’ll bestow upon you the title of Princess of a Commandery.”
The Emperor had already considered that Jin Luoluo would sooner or later become his daughter-in-law. A merchant’s daughter marrying a prince did not look particularly respectable.
He might as well grant her the rank of a commandery princess. Still, he couldn’t spoil the girl too much—otherwise she would only push for more. So he decided to use this as an incentive, making her work hard to please him before finally granting her the title.
“A commandery princess? Is the status high? Is it higher than that of a prime minister’s daughter?”
The Emperor chuckled. The girl was still a girl at heart, with a child’s mentality.
“Of course it’s high. It’s a First Rank title. Tell me, isn’t that prestigious enough? The daughters of officials don’t even have official ranks.”
Ha! Won’t Yang Ruoyao be furious then? Once I become a commandery princess, I’ll make her kneel until her legs go numb!
“Oh? Then are there fiefs, servants, gold, silver, and things like that as rewards too?” Jin Luoluo asked even more excitedly.
“Naturally. You’ll receive all the privileges and rewards that come with the rank of a commandery princess. None of your entitlements will be lacking.”
Jin Luoluo struggled internally for a moment, then raised her head with the expression of someone marching bravely to her death.
“Fine then. I’ll reluctantly accept becoming a commandery princess.”
Black lines appeared on the Emperor’s forehead. She was getting a huge bargain and still acting as if she were being forced into it.
Although Jin Luoluo had claimed in the great hall that her preparations were nearly complete, the problem of finding male and female models remained entirely unresolved.
It was truly a headache of the highest order.
Pushing Xiao Luo’s wheelchair, Jin Luoluo strolled slowly along the palace pathway.
“Luoluo, are you trying to push me into the lake?” Xiao Luo’s helpless voice drifted into the ears of the absent-minded Jin Luoluo.
She snapped back to reality and realized that she had actually wheeled him right to the edge of the water and was still moving forward. Startled, she quickly turned the wheelchair and guided it back onto the path.
“Sorry, sorry! I was thinking about something.”
“What has you so absorbed? Have you run into some trouble? Perhaps I can help.”
Xiao Luo’s voice was as elegant and smooth as silk, like gentle morning dew slowly nourishing one’s heart.
