Jin Luoluo burst into laughter. Pointing at Xiao Luo’s soot-covered face, she clutched her stomach and laughed wildly.
“Haha! You look like you just crawled out of an ash pile. You should change your title to Prince Ashy!”
Xiao Luo reached over and smeared some soot onto her face. Then he held up his blackened palm in front of her, his eyes and brows filled with cheerful amusement.
“You’re not much better. Cinderella.”
Jin Luoluo hurried over to the washbasin.
Reflected in the water was the face of a black-faced gremlin.
Sure enough, she really did look like Cinderella.
The only question was who her Prince Charming was supposed to be.
That night, the mountain wind was bleak and chilly.
As it swept through the forest, the trees rustled like eerie beasts howling in the darkness.
Yet Jin Luoluo found it all strangely wonderful.
She had never experienced such a quiet and simple rural life before.
A sense of peace and tranquility rose within her.
It actually felt rather nice.
“Xiao Luo, are you asleep?”
She called out to him in the darkness.
Originally, she had wanted to give the bed to the disabled man. However, Xiao Luo had displayed more gentlemanly manners and insisted that she sleep on the bed while he slept on the floor.
“You’re not used to it, so you can’t sleep, right?”
Xiao Luo sounded perfectly at ease.
Compared to military campaigns, these conditions were nothing.
“I don’t know why, but this kind of secluded paradise feels almost dreamlike. If I hadn’t ended up here by accident, I never would have discovered such an amazing way of life.”
Being completely removed from the hustle and bustle of the world filled her with curiosity.
“You’re only interested because it’s something you’ve never experienced before. In the end, the place that suits you is still the capital—the world of business.”
“True. It’s like going on a trip. But a trip can never become everyday life. I, Jin Luoluo, still love the bustling capital most of all, and the fierce battles of the business world. Of course, what I love most, most of all is lots and lots of money.”
Xiao Luo laughed.
“I’ve never met a woman who loves money as much as you do. You’ve practically made earning money your life’s ambition.”
“But I’ll remember the people and experiences here. They’ll become beautiful memories.”
“What else?”
“That’s all.”
“You seem to have forgotten me. After all, we’ve gone through hardships together and shared life-and-death experiences.”
Jin Luoluo giggled.
“As for you… you’re just a speck of dust in those memories.”
“A girl who says one thing and means another.”
Xiao Luo smiled softly in the darkness.
